Wonder what type [more Gattis hate]

well then that's the first strike on mario, 2 bad hires if it turns out to be true.
Lol people could’ve said the same thing about Kirby Smart when he was at Bama that Saban is a defensive guru specifically DBs.

Let’s give the coaches a little more time before we start saying they’ve failed

Also, Mario got a late start since he joined us later than other new coaches did. He hired guys who come from successful programs and with that, bring legitimacy.

Hard pill to swallow for us canes fans, but our program was a joke outside of Miami and people didn’t take us seriously. He’s doing it first class and has managed to bring it the best staff we’ve had from top to bottom in 20 years.

If they weren’t the best hires he can fix it later, but when people say “strikes” they mean three mistakes and then he’s gotta go. This isn’t the kind of thing where you even start to think about firing him over.

He’s literally the most qualified coach we could’ve gotten and he only came here because he played here and won Natty’s here. He’s turning our program around and making us legit.

“strike one is on Mario for hiring the runner up of the recruiter of the year award who comes from defending champs Georgia and Broyle’s award winner Gattis from Michigan after their best season in decades”

I can’t with some of the entitled and dumb **** y’all say

Progress is incremental

Lashlee‘s offense was a lot easier for everyone. Tvd is now having to process more and go through more professions. It was obvious he was unsure at times and wasn’t trusting his eyes. I said weeks ago this was a dramatic change from last year for the offense.

We have to use more Rpo and space and I believe we will. Theres no way the last two weeks is close to what this offense is. At least it better not be lol.
looking at the non advanced numbers, Miamis lashee offenses ranked higher than gattis Michigan offenses. neither offense are perfect imo. if we could implement some of lashlees pass concepts with gattis run concepts, wed be better off esp w the roster we have.

if this is the offense, were not wining anything w the current roster and coaching staff. I hope youre right and you have to be right. this can't be what they want to run solely w the QB room they have

look I like what youre saying but coaches do fail in terms of their hiring. Harbaugh did take away the reigns from gattis after 2 bad offensive seasons as OC. they then produced their best offensive season and best season. its not a knock on Mario by any means if gattis doenst work out (tbh, I dont see gattis staying here more than a season anyways whether by choice or by him getting an HC role somewhere). we've seen coaches go through coaches before they find the right one. well see what the O staff has in store for tom night. it has to be their A game though. his comment about 3 yards at a time will not win us this game. playing app states game will not win us this game either.

It's no secret we lack in the WR group. I'm not denying that. We also don't have to dig deep into every single thing that happens on the field. I saw So Miss's safeties(and entire defense really) constantly cheating forward on every play. The flea flicker looked like a great call to counter their safeties taking 3 steps forward every single snap.

Maybe there is more to it, maybe there isn't. This board has a tendency to make things way bigger than they need be and I feel that's no different with the analyzing of the flea flicker. We got people in here acting like calling a flea flicker is really opening up the bag of tricks when it's an extremely basic play. I've watched Lincoln Riley for years now call more complex trick plays against terrible teams when the games were already out of hand.
the diff is tho Lincoln Rileys offenses have produced everywhere hes been though. if we didnt have issues getting the ball downfield, then a flea flcker or trick play here or there wouldn't matter. we've been struggling offensively through the air specifically against really weak teams. well see if its just a temporary thing

also for some reason people think we've been calling for the full air raid. dont think anyone has even said that. lashlee didnt even run an air raid. he used air raid concepts but he was more of a gus guy. we can run a better passing offense while still running the ball. no one is saying flip it completely. you have a heisman worthy QB, you use him. if it means throwing it 30-40 times a game so be it. egos can be swallowed if it leads to wins.

regarding addae, didnt Kirby not really put up a fight to let him go? they were looking for a new DB coach while he was still employed at UGA. maybe something to watch for? fwiw, I just think we have a ****** DB room so im not calling for his head or anything.

TBH, I remember seeing Michigan fans saying Gattis hadn't done a great job first couple years and they thought since he had more help and less responsibility the offense improved, which might be true and he might not be a great coach for us.

This might have been a bad hire by Mario, but you don't start talking about throwing Mario out when his"bad hires" come late in the season when options are limited, at a new school that everyone has lost respect for, and the guys you poached just got the ****king award for best coordinator in the country (even if it was a fluke he freaking won it) and the #2 recruiter in the nation coming from the defending champs.

It isn't like he poached these dudes for upgraded roles lol. They're doing the same things they were at Michigan and Georgia where they were successful. Tell me those places have more talent and more infrastructure or whatever--well guess what people, that is what he's trying to build, and if you can't see the progress he's made or the changes to the program already idk what to tell you.

You don't become Georgia overnight. He hired guys with good resumes from premier programs on short notice. Even if they turn out to be duds I won't hold it against him. No one bats 1000%

Enos did recruit TVD if I am not mistaken. But his qb room was pretty trash and so was the oline. Enos at Maryland looks a lot better than he did at Miami for what it's worth.
Agree. And every offensive system works, it just depends if you have the cattle or not. It feels like the margins in the enos and Gattis systems are smaller, and if they don’t adjust to personnel (see Jarren Williams under centre 7 step drops with a bad Oline) then it gets ugly quick.

I am happy to be wrong, and we aren’t going to truely know for a few years . I guess I’m just going on record saying I’m not a Gattis believer and we aren’t going to see a top 20 offence under him (and Mario) at the end of any year. Even with a TVD at QB.

All the coaches that win the Broyle's award have talent advantages. If simplifying schemes works for your players then it works. You don't get more points for having more complex playbooks. Kind of whack to belittle his achievements so much and act like he didn't help at all.

The guy bled for Miami as a player, coached linebackers in the NFL after playing in the NFL, and was able to relate to and coach up a team that will be remembered as the greatest of all time and have similar defensive performance with less talented teams for the better part of a decade too.
That’s fine.

Then maybe we need to stop saying, “This guy won the Broyles Award!” like it’s something special if it’s just about having more talented players than the other team.

Lincoln Riley won the Broyles award with a talented Oklahoma team his first year there. I think he's a brilliant offensive mind, but he obviously was helped by the talent of his team.

Maybe you need to realize too that a lot of college football is about having the more talented team lol. These coaches were brought here in part because they're successful recruiters and Mario trusted they would be able to develop guys and get people to buy into the vision he has.

If Addae isn't as strong a recruiter as people thought he was that is also a miss. But Mario is fcking swinging for the fences and I love it

People miss but he's taking big swings and soon we'll be knocking mofos out

Shannon Won the Broyles with an All Pro Defense....very similar situation.

I truly hope not. Tomorrow will be a tell all.

I’m gonna disagree with you here my friend. This is the third game, and the first P5 game. I personally think there’s a lot of cobwebs to be cleared and things to be straightened out. You really don’t know what you have in terms of talent until it goes against a legitimate P5 opponent, that’s what we find out tomorrow. How is our talent going to respond .

Sometimes it takes a few games to tinker with what you’re doing and make it work for the personnel you have. That personnel has not really been tested, and it will be tomorrow though.

Mannnn...We have a $12 Million plus payroll...Highest payroll in UM History. That combined with more than enough talent to play for the ACC Championship, and not to sh*t the bed against a team that lost to Appalachian St. at home.

I have a sick feeling about Gattis. As I do with Addae. I feel like their in the same boat. I've heard that Gattis success at Michigan (Broyles) was due to Harbaugh basically being wayyy more hands on with the offense...and with Addae, that it was Kirby who really should get credit for the DB play at Georgia. Spoke to many credible people off CIS about both. I knew just who to call in ref. to Addae...and I trust them.
Ok! Their word and you posting that you trust them Now what?

UGA got heavily criticized bc of their offense. it wasn't until Kirby built an NFL level D where they finally won.

Rileys Offense was great at ECU if I remember correctly.

Riley is a brilliant coach. You don't win the award with having an insanely talented team though. Mario brought the best guys he could to help us get the talent we need.

If he missed on them he missed, but they had excellent resumes and were respected for their recruiting ability
