OK, if the trio of Chud, Butch and Schiano are the top 3...

Petrino or Kingsbury.

So you want a 34 year old guy who has a total of 5 years as a coach to run the U? Do you actually follow this team???? Jesus christ

Yep, he's a great coach. I'm sure you would've said the same thing about Gus Malzhan too. Do you actually follow football??? Jesus christ

What exactly makes him a great coach? MIAMI IS NOT IN A POSITION TO HIRE A COLLEGE COORDINATOR OR 35 YEAR OLD JAG WITH FIVE YEARS OF TOTAL COACHING.

If you don't understand why such a hire would be beyond idiotic you should read more and post less.

Art Briles, Kirby Smart, Charlie Strong, or Jim McElwain

Lulz at the love for Butch Davis. There a lot of people in high stress / demanding professions that are better at age 62 then they were in their prime / late 40s? Especially when they've been off and on retired for about half of the previous 15 years. I'm thinking he just might not be as good a talent evaluator or recruiter as he was in his prime. Lot different recruiting environment in Miami today than in 2000. But hey, he'll just step right in with a staff that he doesn't have (because, cough, cough, he hasn't coached in 3 years) and not miss a beat.

Charlie strong is not taking a pay cut to come to Miami

Who said he is taking a paycheck? The business case justifies paying a guy of his stature. If Golden is making between $2.1 and $2.6 million then with his buyout Miami can pay Charlie $4 million. Or Miami can keep the coaching musical chairs going.

I get the impression Strong's camp is trying to leverage the job opening at UM for salary at Texas.

Jimbo Fisher was a OC before he became a head coach turned out good Florida State

I didn't realize Jimbo was at Miami.

If Jimbo had failed, they were one coach removed from greatness, and have the money to simultaneously pay a buyout while affording a solid replacement.

Miami has shown repeatedly that a) this job is too demanding for a rookie or green HC 2) will not spend good money when dealing with paying the remainder of fired coaches contract.

This is Miami. This isn't Auburn with unlimited pockets and buying whatever recruits. You simply cannot take the risk on a 35 year old who coached 2 years as OC and then 1 year as a HC TOTAL.

Can I dream

Kliff Kingsbury.. only make 2.1 million... Over him 3mill and ask him to show James Coley the way..
Josh Heupel...making 500k but Coley might feel disrespected a younger coach got the job over him and resign.

No retreads except Butch... his ability to stockpile talent could change our landscape once again.

James Franklin is impossible. Is making 3M+ in Vanderbilt and the admin wont pay that plus compensation.
Schiano and his military style would scare Miami recruits imo.

Chud or Butch

They can pay the comp with the comp they get for Golden leaving..,

No on Schianno. He had too much negativity this season for him to be a possibility. I would consider Butch is he showed that he wanted it, I don't want to bring in a guy who doesn't know if he even wants to coach any more. I like Rob in this case. Kirby Smart though would still be the guy I would try to make a call to.

Interesting how you launch into personal insults if anyone disagrees with you...

You should watch Texas Tech play if you have to ask what makes him a great coach. Based on the content of your posts, I doubt you watch much football anyway. And ruling out any candidate merely because they are a college coordinator is silly. Why limit any options?

Typing in all caps doesn't make what you say any more correct or factual. Oh, and perhaps you should take your own advice and read more and post less.

Butch

Chud

Schiano

Schiano's act is dumb, but he won with lots of South Florida kids at Rutgers. He could "connect" with them and he brings a good rolodex. I just don't see him as a guy who would maximize our talent that well. He had some pretty talented teams by the end of his tenure at Rutgers and only went over 10 wins once. I think people are underselling Schiano. There's a lot of good qualities about him

But Butch is basically Schiano on steroids and already knows how to win big here. With Chud we would be a really well coached team and he could hire an excellent staff. My only question is whether he'd want to pound the ever living **** out of other teams or take it easy on them. The latter does not work @ UM.

You're crazy. Dude had North Carolina chock full of 1st Round talent. North Carloina. He hasn't lost anything as far as evals go. He will always have that.

He has won at Vanderbilt an historically bad program. Plus, he has done it in the SEC during a time that the SEC has won 7 straight national championships and playing for its 8. Plus, he is a leader of men and recruits at a high level and against BAMA, LSU, UGA, USC and etc.
