OK, if the trio of Chud, Butch and Schiano are the top 3...

Any list that doesn't contain Olives is a fraud.

Olives
Butch
Monkey Boy

Any of those 3 would be a monster upgrade.

Chise, you think Chud is more of the same ol', same ol'?

That would be my biggest fear with him...

I've got no interest in Chud. Way too many question marks with him (i.e., recruiting, track record as a HC, personality issues, etc.). Guys should ask themselves if he didn't play at UM would they even be mentioning him. If not, then why consider him.

Is everyone convinced we are going with someone with ties to the program this time? If so, Curtis Johnson might be a good choice. I think he needs a couple more years, but he fits just about everything on the checklist outside of years as a HC.

In what world is Curtis Johnson even remotely qualified? Was he a championship NFL coordinator? Butch and Schnelly were. Was he a elite college coordinator who cut his teeth at a major conference program? JJ was.

Being a position coach in the college/NFL and going 9-16 at a lower division school doesn't qualify you to be a coach at Miami.

Mark Stoops anyone? Defensive minded, coached DB's at Miami before, with 2 year head coaching experience at Kentucky. No idea if there is any interest in Leaving Kentucky for Miami but what do you guys think of him?

We just hired the coach from Temple three years ago, now we're too good for the coach from Tulane who spent 10 years coaching here and coached under Sean Payton for 5 years...come on. Didn't say he's perfect, but if we're looking for guys with ties he might get a look.

1. Butch: Because it's butch.

2. Chud: young, aggressive, knows what it takes here, good x's and o's and potential for putting together a **** of a staff

3. Schiano: because someone had to be last.

All are a HUGE upgrade.

He's only been there one year, and it wasn't very good. Although it does look like he can recruit.

Yeah those are are valid concerns. And for all his NFL experiences, he's been a head coach for all of one season.

And who's to say he wouldnt be looking to get back to the NFL at the very opportunity?

UM needs some real stability, they are going on what, three coaches since 2006?

Steve, there are too many good proven options available to go with Chud. Petrino is as can't miss as you can get. His philosophy and ruthless personality is tailor-made for S. FL football. He'd be unstoppable down here.

And the thing is that you don't have to try to lure him from a $3M/year gig or get in a bidding war for him. He's making $875k/year right now. This is one of those very rare opportunities where you have a perfect fit for your program, he'd kill to be here, and you'd be retarded to pass it up.

And Al Golden showed you that hiring a guy like him gets you 9-4 in year 3 with shameful bowl losses. That's the whole point. In hindsight, AG was not only under qualified for the job, but his resume was a joke compared to JJ/Schnelly/Butch.....And CJ makes AG look like a grizzled vet coach.

I'd poke my own eyes and ear drums out with k9's chopsticks if that happened. What the **** has he accomplished? FSU's defense looked a lot better this year without him and after losing a ton of talent to the NFL. And all he did at Kuntucky was get schmoe'd by everyone. Fck that roly poly little ****.

And the thing is, my understanding is that Olive Garden( OG, for short) is absolutely salivating at the thought of being the head coach at UM. He's been at other solid programs but never one with this tradition, history and possibilities( with a fertile recruiting ground to build from). I think it's time to be bold, this is a wild card. UM owes themselves at least an interview the guy, see what he's about. The fact that some view him as toxic, IMO, works to Miami's advantage-- he might have no choice but to stick around for awhile

Make sure he doesnt bang anyone in the athletic dept, put in a morals clause in the contract, make sure he retains certain key staff members( for recruiting purposes). Do everything that will appease the PC police. But good grief, lets not settle anymore....

Yes, now I realized he took the Kentucky HC job in 2012. For some reason I thought he has been there for 2 years.

I think Petrino would be great...guy just wins, but I can't see Donna signing off on him after the way he left Arkansas.

Just for the record, you can use my fork, too...

Butch or Petrino should be the only two options

Both guys would have Miami relevant and playing elite ball pretty quickly. Anyone else (among those likely interested) would be a major risk and honestly we just can't afford messing up another hire.

I'd go with Butch easily if given the choice.

Petrino will end up back at UL. The fact that he's still at WKU and not at a major program, tells you just how toxic he still is in the higher level coaching ranks. Couple that with Donna Shalala and her obsession with making this a squeaky clean program and improving the perception and publicity of UM, especially being on probation and after the NCAA debacle of the last 3 years, and I just dont see it. Its a **** shame, but I just cant see them doing it. Butch or Petrino would be absolutely great hires for this team, but I dont see any way in **** the administration is going to allow it.

Real candidate list in order of probability......

1. Rob Chudzinski
2. Curtis Johnson
3. Dirk Koetter
4. James Coley

And why is this the realistic possibility? Bc Paul Dee made two lazy hires and then our budget was stretched bc of two buyouts. We have more now than when we hired Golden. Or is that your retarded wish list?

Guys, I know someone who played for Dirk Koetter( Rudy Carpenter), lets just say his personality wouldn't mesh well with the kind of players UM has...
