Is everyone off of Morris' jock yet?

Morris is quite clearly a D1 qb. He made that first rounder CB from nc state his bjtch

It is entirely possible for a QB to be dogsh!t one year, and good the next. Go look at Berlin's stats in 2003 compared to 2004. Look at Shaun King from 1996 to 1997 or 1998.

Correct.

Is Morris Perfect, ****KKKK NO.

Does he make mistakes, YES.

Are there several mistakes with reads and touch passes, YES.

Are there 1000 drops this year that effect the offense on the team, YES.

Not giving up on this kid especially with 4 games left.

except he's always been dog sh*t. yes, he had a great game against nc state. he had a great drive to tie it up against georgia tech. but that's it. what game has he played that convinces you that he's the real deal? at this stage in his career (to clarify:first 14 starts), jacory was better across the board.

The thing with Morris is that he is not a finished product. In fact he's quite a bit away from that. His issue is he has not married his physical attributes, which are inarguable, with the mental side of the position. I absolutely agree that his "feel" for the game is lacking, but that can be developed if he has the dedication necessary. The pitcher analogy is spot on; right now Morris is nothing more than a thrower who needs to learn how to actually pitch. If he does that, then he can be special, but that's a really big if. Let's remember, "special" quarterbacks are rare. My hope is for SM to be special, but my expectation is for him to, at least, be consistently competent.

you forget how bad Berlin was in '03 then. He was benched for Crudup for f-ck's sake.

oh i remember quite well how bad berlin was (i grew up a vt fan before going to school at um). but morris is nothing special aside from the howitzer that we call his right arm. he's an average (being generous) quarterback mentally that has been gifted with amazing physical tools.

And Berlin was nothing special either despite the hype, and he had a very good senior year. Fisch has been an NFL QB coach. I'm not saying Morris will win the Heisman next year, but I think Fisch (with a full healthy offseason) can get more out of him next year.

i hope he does. i really do. if stephen morris works another offseason and his 4 year development finally turns him into a decently competent quarterback and we win the acc, then i will be happy. but i'm willing to bet that he will be the primary reason for failure if we don't.

LOLWTF?! At this stage of his career, Jacory was tearing thru INT records lik a hot knife thru butter.

Thru 8 games of their junior season:
Name-comp-att-%-yds-TDs-INTs
Harris 132-245-53.8-1646-14-11
Morris 179-311-57.6-2214-10-7

i'm talking about career. cumulative work. if you go first 14 starts, jacory blows him out of the water. and his total number of career ints is high, but so are his touchdowns. apparently no one remembers when he got hit about every other play because our line back then makes our line now look like alabama's.

I am officially off the morris bandwagon...at least he can lead us to enough wins to self impose. Way too many eratic throws, and like someone else said, he is the reason the game was close. With a good qb, we blow vt out last night.

that's not completely correct.. at this stage in his career, jacory had "about" 2 years of starting under his belt..

I'll save a seat, don't worry bruh.

He's too inconsistent bruh... Nothing is more frustrating than an inconsistent QB. Let us count down the days until Olsen arrives.

i meant in terms of starts. my fault not clarifying that. harris had 2 starts as a freshman and started 12 in his sophomore year.

in their first 14 starts:

Harris: 59.8% completions, 3736 yards, 27 TDs, 18 INTs, TD-INT = 1.5 (Starts: 2008 Charleston Southern and Cal, 2009 Regular Season)
Morris: 56.1% completions, 3375 yards, 15 TDs, 15 INTs, TD-INT = 1 (Starts: 2010 Maryland, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, South Florida, 2011 Maryland, 2012 Regular Season)

someone is inevitably going to point out that harris played in every game his freshman year. this is true, but he only threw more than 8 passes in 4 of the games that he didn't start. the fact is, harris was better in his first 14 starts and he was a year younger than morris.
