For those who want to rush this thing

500 yards of offense is the kind of games that good BCS teams have on MAC type defenses. We are regularly giving up these yards to mediocre BCS teams. Miami = MAC team?

What so so many fail to accept...we are mediocre BCS, too. Our talent is mediocre (but getting better). Our coaches are struggling to get the best out of that mediocre talent. Our fanbase fracking blows chunks. We play in a dump in front of upwards of 4 figurines, guysm.

Everyone ****ing seems to forget this. Why in the seven ***** would any kid get excited or pumped up to go play in front of an empty stadium? That **** kills me man. Seeing those photos and knowing we have recruits at the game makes me wonder how in the **** Golden has the 6th ranked class right now. Living in Tallahassee and going to the Canes games when they play up here makes Canes games down there seem like a ****ing joke there were probably as many Canes at the FSU game as there was at the VTech game. And I've got a months paycheck that 95% of you ******s ****ing about Dorito and our defense haven't attended one game.

So now our defense is historically bad because we didn't sell out the stadium?

Our entire starting D would start for every team in the mac. That is all the mac is full of jags.

Put down the pipe, Mayor Ford.

I went to NIU (the best team in the MAC) and I can without a doubt say each and every one of our players in the 2-deep would start there. From the DL to the secondary.

You clowns will say anything to excuse the terrible performance of our defense.

goddammit this is so frustrating.

yes our talent level is not where it should be and probably (note this key word here. I will refer back to it) will be there in another 1 or 2 recruiting cycles.

now, the problem that I and every fan with a functioning brain have is that it is OBVIOUS that the defensive scheme, coaching, whatever you want to call it is PATHETIC.

WE WILL NEVER HAVE A GREAT OR EVEN GOOD DEFENSE WITH THIS BS SOFT **** THAT THESE IDIOTS ARE RUNNING.

now back to the probably. as more and more people catch on to the caps above, the recruits will start to go away. it will be harder and harder to sell them on this dumpster fire of a defense.

Dorito has to go as soon as the last game is over. clean house on the defensive side of the ball

If you don't think we have the talent to win against teams such as VT

Maybe with Duke, Dorsett & Scott on the field.. but that defense is as good as any team in CFB. We spotted them 21 points. Game over. There is a huge difference in raw talent and developed talent. The only upperclassman on this team (that played Sat night) who isn't a JAG is DP & Linder. If you want to count SM then fine but with his ankle/confidence issues.. JAG. Playing 18 & 19 year olds all over the field isn't what any coach wants.. especially in that type game.

Missing Duke, Dorsett and Scott have nothing to do with VT putting 40+ on us. Even with the 3 turnovers, VT should not have scored more than 30 with how their offense has been this year. I mean ******* Duke held them to 10 and they gave them 4 ints. I still remember joking that VT needs to can Logan Thomas as QB, that they should end the TE as QB experiment. Instead this guy looks like ******* Peyton Manning against our defense. 25-31, 366yds passing, 42 yards rushing, 2 TD, 0 int. Keep leaning on the talent issue if you want, but there is no Miami team in probably near the last 30 years that is that bad against a BAD offense. I honestly dont care that FSU beat us down because I expected it. Their offense is **** good this year, but VT is garbage on offense and we have no excuses for that game.

As far as the offense, we only scored 24, but we played a good defense and we're hurting at rb and missing 2 solid receivers so 24 is fine. The turnovers were the only real issue.

So using your parameters, our last three recruiting classes ranked 36th, 9th, and 20th.

Yet we were in death matches with UNC, whose last three classes were 16th, 42nd, and 44th.

And Wake - 69th, 69th, and 58th.

**** kicked in by Virginia Tech - 33rd, 22nd, 23rd.

We were in slugfests down to the wire with awful UNC and Wake teams.

We got our asses kicked around the field at home against VT.

This is with more talent coming in than they had. So what does this staff need to win? Can we sneak our NFL guys onto the field? Will that be enough of a talent differential for them?

I love how all of the derps just passed by this post.

So now Perryman, Porter and Chickillo are MAC level players?

LULZ at how far these dudes are going to apologize for the worst D in UM history.
Yup. It's frustrating to the nth degree.

It's one thing to realize that our talent isn't championship level, but for these clowns to try to force feed us the fallacy that our front 7 couldn't start on any MAC teams makes them look brainwashed and stupid.

I really dont think it will matter how much "talent" we get on this defense.

the coaches are completely lost. it is just god awful and I LOL at anyone defending it.

IF Dorito is back next year, expect the same or worse out of this defense. and then it will be very difficult to pull recruits and we will be set back another year or more

When Chad and Moten and company we are bringing in are physically ready to play and the defense still looks like this then you know there is a problem.

are you saying we can't determine there is a problem with the defense until the 2016 season?

jesus christ i hope the people that are in the decision making positions don't agree.

Exactly.

Golden's timeline keeps getting pushed further and further.

"We won't know until the 2014 class is physically read to play." Kiss my ****ing ***.

I don't know who is pushing the time. I've been telling my friends since before the season that we're probably still two recruiting classes away from being able to really compete with the top teams. We just don't have the stockpile of talent and depth yet, and the lack of depth hampers player development as well. Some people may have had expectations that we'd be farther along sooner, but that's not necessarily pushing the timeline. That just might be evidence of a need to adjust unrealistic expectations.

None of that means that we should have played the way we did against VT. That was an abomination. But, it does mean that we're still at risk of dropping a game to a team that we should beat and sometimes struggling against teams we should handle. That happens to good (not great) teams every year.

Bottom line is that the staff still has a lot of work to do on the recruiting trail and, in the meantime, has to figure out how to have us stop playing like we did against VT and struggle as much as we have against other lesser opponents. I can see factors that would contribute to some of that VT performance but, at this point, regardless of any of those factors, we should not look that bad and make that cruddy VT offense and QB look that good.

Watching that VT game, I was developing PTSD from the flashbacks of Virginia 2007--and that just got me ****ed because I wasn't back at the OB, which only added insult to injury.

Oh, and not that it changes anything I said, but I do think Morris is hurt more than the staff is letting on. By now, that ankle injury probably has him struggling with his hip too and that would make it even harder for him to plant and throw. I'm thinking that may be why he missed Coley short against FSU and why he has struggled more with his accuracy, especially on long throws, where he normally excels. Just a guess, but he hasn't looked right to me and, while some certainly is on him, I don't think all of it is regression or play calling.

I hate this ******* defense. makes we wanna puke all over my TV

I just laugh now at every 3rd and long that we give up. it is a comedy. a tragic comedy

Right now, our opponent's most effective play against us has been 3rd down. The actual play doesn't matter--just the down. That has to stop. I'd be stunned if the coaches don't feel the same way and recognize that it is on them to put the players in the best position to make it stop.

we have looked pathetic week after week against average to below average competition. Eventually you have to come to the realization that our coaches may not know what the **** they are doing.

Or, you have to come to the realization that we, too, are average to below-average.

I'll say this: I don't think Miami would have won the MAC more than once or twice over the past 6-7 years.

i cringe every time i see 3rd and long and we rush three.... it's like we want them to have the extra time to pick us apart.

You should probably find a new bandwagon to jump on. D'Onofrio is going nowhere...like it or not. There may be changes made below him...I have no clue...but Coach D is not going anywhere unless he gets a HC job (which seems rather unlikely at this point).

I know **** well we have better players on defense than the best team in the MAC.
