Finally Admit Lanning > Mario

I agree with you 100%.

If you go by Mario's program-build timeline this was the win close year, and I believe we did that for the most part. Cam made us feel further along than we were and Mario went for it in the portal, but we are still in need of talent.

We won't have Cam, but we'll have a better team next year.
I think this will hinge on heavy portal usage, improved evals and improved development.

Are you a politician? It's a simple question. No one wins 10 games by accident. Who is responsible for that?
As a person who’s been a fan and also critical of Mario your statement is something nobody can argue.
Blame cam all you want. But the run game the oline and the receivers had to be there for him to get 10 wins.
Cam had good numbers at wasu but never won 10 games and everyone says it wasn’t his fault.
Now he wins 10 games and it’s all because of him.
Wtf?

We’ve always said that golden and cmr and manny did less with more.
But the nfl draft didn’t seem to think so. And this years draft will definitely show us if defensively we did less with more.
Defense looked better last year with 3 nfl db’s.
3 nfl db’s that everyone criticized all season.

We are all ****ed because we thought halfway through the season that we had some sort of top 5 team and defense. We didn’t.

Now we’re all upset thinking came was responsible for 5 wins and next year we’re lucky if we win 7 or 8.
Plenty of gurus on here had Florida winning 4.

Nobody knows who tf anyone is gonna be next year. We could win 7 games or be undefeated.

All I know is we are in a better position to get better than we’ve ever been.
But so are a lot of teams.

So far this season has been a nightmare for the frontrunners after a few teams got a little better at key positions.

The stranglehold on talent from the frontrunners hasn’t gone away completely and now they’re susceptible to poaching.

Yes it’s ok to be critical.
But dudes are acting like next year we’re going back to the Stone Age.

I'll try it again: Who is responsible for getting us from 5 to 10 wins in two years?
Why did we have to go from 5 wins? The year before he took over Manny won 7. It’s like lowering the bar initially to make yourself look better in the future. It took him 2 years just to get back to Manny’s final record.

Many on here say Mario left Lanning a great situation, but the #s say otherwise as far as # of transfers Lanning has made in his tenure to improve his roster. This was year 3 of Mario and Lanning is running circles around him again. Oregon got the better of the deal with Mario coming here
So Mario isn’t the “elite recruiter” CIS likes to think he is?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lanning has proven to be better. Who cares though. Lanning or any coach with great options isn’t coming here. **** Mario would have been better off staying at Oregon. This program stuck in this mediocre conference will forever be middling.

Lanning was a very good defensive coordinator. Why wouldn’t he be better than Mario? He has all the backing of Oregon and Nike too. Mario has never been a coordinator that called plays. Oregon will be relevant every year for as long as Lanning is there. NFL will come for him after he wins a chip.
Lanning >>>>>>>>>>>>Mario so please stop with all this

While a change is probably needed, what next? If Mario can't lead us back, who can (and is willing to take this job)? We can't throw unlimited money like the Texas schools, Bama, Georgia, OSU can
I’ve heard that said before, ominously. If Mario cannot, then the thought is that no one can in today’s football. And what that likely means is the strong NIL support evaporates. Meaning the strong classes evaporate. So even if you get the next super coach to come in, he’s doing so with two and three star talent. And if that talent were to have a good year, they then immediately depart for another team that will pay them more.

Y’all crack me up. Mario IS our last chance. No big time coach is coming here. We have NEVER attracted big names outside of “Miami” guys. Love him or hate him, no one will care more than Cristobal. We will be forever stuck in this cycle. Sorry but this is what we are.

Did you watch that team at all? Brother we had a walk on playing running back.

Unfortunately we are stuck with Mario for just a little while longer but his time will be up very soon. Hang in there.

The clock is ticking and the bomb will go off. It's just after this massive bomb is what I am worried about.
I always thought MC was going to be a transitional hc. I think the next coach puts us over.

Easily. Lanning has established a real culture. Mario is a recruiting Grunt. Nothing more.
I don't think Mario is as good of recruiter that most people say he is. He throws **** at the wall and hope it sticks. His evals are bad and would rather him evaluate high school recruits better.

Manny’s team was trending down in some rooms and had deficiencies in certain groups. Those would have organically grown worse no matter who was the coach in 2022.

We lost to MTSU in 2022. That same MTSU team finished 4-4 in their conference. No excuses for that.

That's why Nick Saban hired him to coach the OL and be in charge of...... Recruiting ......at Alabama

There is a certain faction within UM’s admin/BOT that have wanted to hire Mario ever since he took the FIU job. Thankfully he’s about the last “UM guy” in the coaching sphere, so once they’ve gotten this out of their system, maybe we will do an actual search for once. Let’s just pray Greg Schiano retires by then.

Mario's calling card is supposed to be recruiting...Oregon vs Miami

2023 Miami #7 Oregon #9
2024 Oregon #4 Miami #4
2025 Oregon #4 Miami #15

Lanning, a first-time head coach, is eating Mario's lunch! We just had our 2nd 10-win season in 20 years and the best Mario could do is 15th in recruiting and losing 3 guys in the last 2 days?
