Finally Admit Lanning > Mario

Oregon beat OSU during the regular season because they passed for more yards and rushed for more yards and had more total offense than they did ...I was at that game and the idea that somehow Oregon lucked out and won is bull****. Even if Howard hadn't of tried to run on the last play the field goal attempt their kicker would have been left with was 40-45+ yards and not exactly a gimme for a kickr who has never made one over 46 yards in his life and missed 2 under 39 yds with 33% kicking efficiency against Michigan several weeks prior. If you think Oregon just got lucky winning that game then you need to take the time to watch it. OSU got lucky playing mistake free football during the first half against Oregon because thy most assuredly lost the second half.

Not disagreeing w/ u, but OSU was in the position to win the game until a goofy mistake. I’ve always believed the two best teams all yr were Oregon & OSU.

However, OSU from a player to player standpoint has more 5* than UO at this point. I’m of the opinion that Lanning is building an UO program that will not only be perennial CFP contenders, but Nat’l title contenders. The recruiting has become on line w/ Bama under Saban, UGA, & OSU.

I’m also of the opinion that UO had no business playing OSU again in Rd 2. Ya’ll got the absolute raw end of the deal as a #1 seed, while PSU got the easiest path to the Final 4.

lol i love how the maribros come out every time not one week after he couldnt coach situational football again.

lanning is a better coach than mario and has wins at a neutral site against PSU who is in the semis (but yall forget that one) and beat OSU earlier this year along with being the only unbeaten team in the b10 and country.

they had a great year but OSU ALWAYS had a better roster and talent coming in. they were a top 2 team preseason for a reason. theyre finally playing to their potential since the michigan loss. either way, give me oregons season any day of the week compared to what we just did with a MUCH better QB.

That beat down he gave Utah in 2019 to win the Pac 12 championship was arguably his best win. Utah was #5 poised to make 4 team playoff, and Mario and Oregon beat them down. He then beat #8 Wisconsin to win Rose Bowl.

You cant just play one side of the narrative.

Also yes he got the Covid chance at Pac 12 title, but he rolled into Los Angeles and beat #13 Southern Cal quasi home game to win the title.

He also left Lanning with one of the best OL rooms in America. And numerous pieces in the defensive front 7. Basically he left Lanning a strong LOS team.
Justin Herbert beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl in spite of Wario

I agree with you 150%

Since 2021 (post covid weirdness)

OSU avg recruit ranking

95.05
94.17
93.31
92.79
92.25

Oregon

92.48
90.78
90.90
92.19
93.85

It’s interesting to look at how the dominant numbers pre 2023 (when NIL really seemed to take hold) have become a bit more spread out away from just UGA/Bama/OSU and after Lanning got his footing Oregon has been on a big upward trajectory the last two years

Miamis best year was 2023 at 91.78 for comparison

93.85 for Oregon is basically like having their average player be Girard Pringle for example. Yeah that’s not too bad

I don't disagree one bit...

however...if the only litmus is Natty of total failure as I believe he said/implied...Lanning and Oregon are still a looooong ways off....

If standard is being solidly built top to bottom and fully vested with resources...Oregon 》Miami is easy to see and our Canes are far behind any of these Quarterfinal teams.

Didn’t see this reply, so my apologies in advance for the late response.

The litmus test is having ur program in contention every single yr. The litmus test is being in position to compete for Nat’l Titles.

Bama’s standards under Saban was winning a title every yr? Y? B/c they were winning at an absurd rate. Not winning a title was considered a failed season even if they played for one or won a NY6 bowl. From the outside, most would consider that a very successful season, but when u’re winning at a God-like level, yeah I get it.

The reason y some fans, myself included, consider this season a failure b/c

1. No one knew how easy this schedule would be; again, as I pointed out this is the 3rd easiest schedule we’ve had since joining the ACC

2. No one knew Ward would be a Heisman contending QB

3. This is going to staff change #3 in 4 yrs under Mario, when Mario allegedly thoroughly vetted these hires.

We had the yellow brick road laid out for us to make it to the ACCCG & fumbled the rock at the 1 yrd line. U couple that w/ a glimpse into the future of life w/o Cam in 2025 courtesy of the Pop Tart Bowl, a disastrous end to our 2025 recruiting class, & hoping & begging to land QBs that r presently not available either by staying put or declaring for the draft (Cam declaration was a video in a locker room of the bootleg variety, while these others were more official), & brethren u have the uproar that u’re seeing.

I disagree with #1. A lot of people knew this was as easy as it gets which is why 10 wins was the floor most people set. Now if you would have told me losing 3 of our last 4 would be how we reached the floor that is a different story.

They beat every single upper echelon team they played including OSU ...they only lost the second time around Oregon was flat and OSU was on fire ...it happens and in fact happened to OSU when they played a sub .500 Michigan team a few weeks prior.

Oregon isn't going anywhere...their schedule next season almost assures they will be undefeated or have one loss and be in the CFP again next year and the year after that especially the way Lanning and Co can recruit and the size of PK's wallet
They weren’t flat they got out talented and probably should have lost the first game. They got a great team though. And yea they possibly will make the playoffs but they will run into a team they are outmanned by. Doesn’t mean they can’t win though
