DAY 2 PRACTICE THREAD

I mean.....

Several Hurricanes made highlight-worthy plays on Wednesday, including freshman Trayone Gray. In his first practice as a Hurricane, the Carol City High alum turned heads when he caught a screen pass from senior Jake Heaps and exploded past defenders to score a touchdown on his first touch of the 11-on-11 period.

“He’s big but he’s also fast. He’s athletic,” fellow running back Gus Edwards said of Gray. “Once he gets the playbook right, I think he’s going to be able to help us a lot this year.”

While several Miami players raved about Gray’s talent, Golden and the coaching staff were impressed with the freshman running back’s size and ability.

“He took that first screen for quite a long way,” Golden said. “I think we have him listed at 208 [pounds], but he weighed in at 222, so he’s a big back. We’ll see where he grows – will he grow into a wide receiver? Will he stay at running back? I don’t know. He’s young – he just got here. We just saw a couple of plays today, and we told him what to do so we could see him. We’ll look at it and see where he goes, but he’s certainly a big kid. We’re happy he’s here.”

I wonder if Golden has the guts to start Kaaya and tell Heaps to kick rocks. I doubt it.

Let's see. Golden had the guts to stay here, when after he unpacked the only question he was asked was, "Do you think Miami will be playing football in a year?"

He kept His D coordinator, when 99% of the fans, who are ignorant 90% of the time! screamed for both their heads.

Took a lot of guts to stay here. You guys forget, when he got here he was pretty much the hottest young coach in College.

Not saying he will do it, but if Kaaya proves himself the best, I'm positive Golden will reward the performance.
Oh shut the **** up about golden already. He ain't **** until he wins something meaningful, until then **** him.

Tough message board talk....I like it.

:machinegun: most of us got kicked off other boards so what do you expect. I have notice about five people who got booted off stocktons little fairy through the smoke board

Good point on Gus. He needs to lower his pad level and play much closer to his actual size. Still hope that somehow Walter Tucker is switched back to running back because he actually plays bigger than his size.

I don't think the thought amongst most fans is that Gray is going to come in and give us 200 carries this year. I think the thought is this kid is a stud athlete that we unexpectedly can add to our roster that needs to continue to accumulate stud athletes.

Gray has niche ability while he's learning nuances, and he will absolutely help us on special teams, where big, fast athletes rein supreme.

Finally, if you don't see a natural RB in his highlight film like Yearby is, I will agree with that, but when you want explosiveness in a highlight film with a little give no effs attitude worked in, you want Trayone Gray.

Be happy about this one. This is great news for our program and this kid's family. He will help us this year without a doubt.

Who air mailed the second throw ?

ok, the analysis of those two passes is going a little overboard. Was a simple corner throw by Kaaya from about the 10 yard line with no rush and no D in place. While Heaps throw might not have "looked" as pretty in that video it was probably a better pass than Kaaya's. BK's could far more easily have been batted down or picked off, and Heaps' ball was in a spot that only the TE could catch it. But even with that said, I wouldn't predict anything based off that video.

Who was the jack a$$ who asked Kirby the what if question about losing Perryman? Why would you what if that? Why not what if Perryman leads the nation in tackles how far can this team go? Our sports reporters collectively have to be the worst in the country.

stop acting like golden's an idiot for practicing in the afternoon. every coach before him did the same thing.
