DAY 2 PRACTICE THREAD

Crawford is a smart ****, he's gonna be big for the defense.

Dallas is going to be a coach one day, no doubt about it. QB in HS, RB, Safety, every ST. Says he jumps routes when he knows a QB has a longer windup. ****. Dallas already knows the game better than most position coaches and some coordinators.

Hhhhmmm sounds familiar.....gotta love fall practice lol....everything is roses and so much better than year lol. Iiite ill temper my emotions til after Louisville
From listening to all the interviews since the Spring, there seems to be a sense of confidence amongst everyone.
These guys seem to be real focused.

Another thing that stands out from the returning defensive players is that they all seem to have the defensive play book down pat.
Everyone says it's a major difference from last year, which leads me to believe that the only one's who had it down last year were the one's who didn't have the athleticism to truly run the defense like AJ and Jimmy Gaines.

There seems to be a seriousness and a cautious optimism brewing from the players and coaches alike.

Said this back in October, but RB Trayone Gray has a chance to be the most exciting recruit in 2014 class. Heard he was amazing today #UM
Gray is truly a secret weapon we have. Louisville is not going to know what hit them.

In his first practice as a Hurricane, the Carol City High alum turned heads when he caught a screen pass from senior Jake Heaps and exploded past defenders to score a touchdown on his first touch of the 11-on-11 period.

I'm not surprised at all I expect him to do this. 3 star my ***. Highlights were one of the best I ever seen.

I will go on record as saying I do not see what everyone else sees in Gray. He's a 4th string freshman at this point and I honestly do not see him taking a spot from the three in front of him....not sure why everyone is so up in arms other than the simple fact that he defied the odds to even get in to school. He still has to prove he has the goods to be that same elite player against the best of the best. And playing a position he has never played before...

Dude. Just watch his highlight tape. Most people here know when they see special. This guy can be special.

I only have a handful of posts so I know I don't have much credibility here, but I watched his highlight tape and have always felt more like frosty. Don't want to make it sound like the kid is terrible, but I just don't see the sure fire superstar that everyone else does. People talk about him the same way they do Dalvin Cook, and i just don't see that. Cook jumps off the screen, and at least to me, Choc doesn't. He's got a great story and I'm really rooting for him.

p.s. seems way more like a WR than a RB to me. I thought on signing day the coaches were saying he was coming in as a WR, but talk seems to be RB now? If so, my guess is it's only because of our lack of depth at RB.

Exactly how I feel. I think he'll be a great player, but I don't necessarily understand the HUGE amount of hype he's received. Also, agree on the WR part as well ... hope thats where he ends up.

you two are but cheap patio furniture floating in the wake of the groundswell that is trayone gray

For anyone doubting Chocolate. **** off, the people down here who actually watch ball religiously know how good he is. Kid is at a freak size already. 6'2 220 no joke. He'll probably shed some before game day. Be about 215 but still. Excited for Gray.

Is He Really 6'2? Looks To Be Under 6 Feet . Not That It Matters..

Legit 6'2. i played bball with him bout 3 weeks back...and I was surprised how tall he was...dude is rocked up, muscular as well. That's when I started calling him Boldin.

@NashSports: It's interesting that Golden says Walter Tucker will essentially be playing FB and LB. A poor man's Myles Jack. Which isn't a bad thing.

And to think, a few posters were giving me **** yesterday for saying that Tucker could play both ways like Myles Jack

Feel like Gray could be a star at RB and WR doesn't need a set position. Could be what Jason Geathers could have been. Good comparison was like Ty Montgomery from Stanford who's a stud. Gray a big physical receiver we don't have. Haven't had someone like that at receiver in ages. And he brings speed and size to RB.

I think Tucker could be a nice two way player, think he's better suited on offense though. Kinda tough to have him out there on offense though when you got Dorsett wearing #4 too.

Means absolutely nothing until we play another team. Every year we go through this offseason bravado.

I see a play maker, period. I see a kid who does whatever he can to get where he is going. He's one of many special players coming in, and wayyyy better days are coming soon. Maybe not soon enough for some fans, but soon.
I don't think the thought amongst most fans is that Gray is going to come in and give us 200 carries this year. I think the thought is this kid is a stud athlete that we unexpectedly can add to our roster that needs to continue to accumulate stud athletes.

Gray has niche ability while he's learning nuances, and he will absolutely help us on special teams, where big, fast athletes rein supreme.

Finally, if you don't see a natural RB in his highlight film like Yearby is, I will agree with that, but when you want explosiveness in a highlight film with a little give no effs attitude worked in, you want Trayone Gray.

Be happy about this one. This is great news for our program and this kid's family. He will help us this year without a doubt.

Chad's facemask doe! ***** raw.

Decision making, speed, and overall ability can make up for a good 20 pounds. I have absolutely no issue with a 210 lb LB if he can tackle and be where he needs to be. Especially where the other team doesn't want him to be. :)
Grace says he's 212 right now. anyone remember what Spence was as a soph?
he was only 224 as a senior and weighs in at 231 ow. fwiw

Sean was Maybe 215 at the most as a sophomore. Junior 220. Senior year about 225. 230 now in nfl and steelers and their fans are very high on him.

If Spence was able to play. I'm sure Grace can, heard big raves on him all offseason. Think that's who I would compare Grace to, and I would take that in a heartbeat. Sean was a stud on some **** teams.

Agreed. I know from watching Grace tape from back when he was at miramar, kid is a heat seeking missile. Reminds me of Sean. Might be faster than Sean too which is scary.

I don't know if he has that same instinct he had though. Sean was amazing at that, always knew where to be and made plays and was just a complete stud.

Hope Grace can live up to hype. That speed something you can't teach.
