Settle down Peter, we have 4 years to man crush on Trinidad Brad. Control yo self!!!

I wonder if Golden has the guts to start Kaaya and tell Heaps to kick rocks. I doubt it.

Let's see. Golden had the guts to stay here, when after he unpacked the only question he was asked was, "Do you think Miami will be playing football in a year?"

He kept His D coordinator, when 99% of the fans, who are ignorant 90% of the time! screamed for both their heads.

Took a lot of guts to stay here. You guys forget, when he got here he was pretty much the hottest young coach in College.

Not saying he will do it, but if Kaaya proves himself the best, I'm positive Golden will reward the performance.

ROFL. You're the guy who argued before that Golden doesn't start the best players. Unreal.

You have me mistaken with the other posters.

I've never argued that point.
I'm pretty sure we've started some bad players because of injury and lack of depth, but only an idiot would think we are keeping are studs in the corral.

I will go on record as saying I do not see what everyone else sees in Gray. He's a 4th string freshman at this point and I honestly do not see him taking a spot from the three in front of him....not sure why everyone is so up in arms other than the simple fact that he defied the odds to even get in to school. He still has to prove he has the goods to be that same elite player against the best of the best. And playing a position he has never played before...

All true, but went last seen on field when it counted, he was a 6'2" >200lb dude outrunning some of Dade's finest and fastest players. Ego, the excitement.

Not to mention the wiggle.
Aldarius Johnson was a 5 star recruit, and this kid Gray is much better.
Plus, he hasn't even touched his potential.
Wait until he actually learns how to play wide receiver. You know, the importance of route running, the tricks to get separation, how to use his big body as a huge advantage over corners who are 5'10" 185lbs.

Kid is going to be a monster for us.

I have watched his highlights, as a WR they do not TOUCH that of Coley. And he is not even starting out there, he is playing a position he's never played before. But lets look at it like this...

If we are basing his film as a rb, I see good/great straight line speed. I do not see elite vision. I do not see great pad level, and I see very careless with the ball. Running a ball up the gut and finding a hole is a **** of a lot different from keeping it on a read option and out running guys to the edge.

If we are basing him as an ATH, then I agree that I see a great athlete, he has a good arm, he had some good catches in his video, obviously has some speed. I worry about a guy that has never played one position and now he is the talk of camp. I just do not see this kid helping this team this year. Pretty sure he came to camp 15 lbs heavier than expected, which could lead one to believe he is a bit out of shape......

Sorry but I personally want to hear about Duke coming off his injury, I wanna see Coley tearing it up. I want to hear that Dorsett just smoked EVERYONE deep. I am proud of the kid for doing what he had to to get in, though that is a great thing. Really showed a level of dedication that you do not see in most kids his age.

Its not like I do not want to see the kid do well, I do. Heck I want them all to do well. But I do not see a highlight film that screams sure fire STUD. Matter of fact, by looking objectively and knowing he has played multiple positions, its almost like he is a project. Because no matter where we use him we are going to have to coach him up on the finer aspects of that position. I think this is totally a Geathers 2.0 situation

Feel free to neg away if you disagree, but please show me something that should change my opinion, show me him against a top tier team and shredding them. Show me him 1v1 vs a top CB and smoking him... Thats all I need to buy the hype... Show me him running away from someone I know is also a D1 player...

The first six pages are basically people complaining bout Grays number and why we aren't wearing real uniforms in practice. Get your **** together guys cot ****.

Not a concern. Best looking feet of a high school QB I've seen in a long time. Great base, nice knee bend, and really good body rotation which allows him to throw the ball with velocity in spite of not being an adonis. More importantly he appears to be accurate - just need to work on timing and hope that he has that all important five letter word - Heart.

Does anybody else think Kaaya's foot work looks bad? Good throws but he kind of double steps right before his release. Still has the rest of training camp however. If he can get good feet in the pocket and no look down a receiver he has a good shot.

Al Golden on Brad Kaaya - "He's just really really mature, and smart....his length really stands out" @TheStateOfTheU

Anymore of this positive buzz about Kaaya and Chocolate and MY length will really start to stand out.

Interesting comment considering that length is one of Heaps' biggest weaknesses.

I mean.....

Several Hurricanes made highlight-worthy plays on Wednesday, including freshman Trayone Gray. In his first practice as a Hurricane, the Carol City High alum turned heads when he caught a screen pass from senior Jake Heaps and exploded past defenders to score a touchdown on his first touch of the 11-on-11 period.

“He’s big but he’s also fast. He’s athletic,” fellow running back Gus Edwards said of Gray. “Once he gets the playbook right, I think he’s going to be able to help us a lot this year.”

While several Miami players raved about Gray’s talent, Golden and the coaching staff were impressed with the freshman running back’s size and ability.

“He took that first screen for quite a long way,” Golden said. “I think we have him listed at 208 [pounds], but he weighed in at 222, so he’s a big back. We’ll see where he grows – will he grow into a wide receiver? Will he stay at running back? I don’t know. He’s young – he just got here. We just saw a couple of plays today, and we told him what to do so we could see him. We’ll look at it and see where he goes, but he’s certainly a big kid. We’re happy he’s here.”
