Xavier Restrepo leaning towards not playing in bowl game..

Playoffs are meaningless also if you are using NFL draft as the measuring stick.

Why should Emeka Ebuka play for Ohio State? He could tear 3 ligaments on that cold turf in the playoffs.

Why should Abdul Carter risk and injury in round 1 vs. SMU?
Competing for a title against the best opponents on the main stage vs. competing to have mayo dumped on your coach against others teams backups

The timing is bad but it's life
Some day it will affect the wrong program. It will **** off some wealthy SEC donors. At that time all of a sudden let’s see how permanent the portal is.

Let’s say when portal opens in the Spring and a football team gets together and enters it to protest something…heck climate change! Let’s say it’s Alabama.

Something has to be done. People don’t understand the impact it’s having starting two deep in the rosters. Benefits the few.

2017 is when opt outs became trendy which is around same time as the portal. I believe it was Fournette and then McCafferey

The two aren’t related.

NIL needs to be shelved and the portal needs to revert back to the old rules. You sit a year.

You want to pay players? They all get the same. OT and QB…same. Kicker? Same.

You make the playoffs there could be an additional 5k for the extra games. Everyone gets it. That coupled with a free education.

Not good enough? Go JUCO get a degree and try out for the NFL.
I agree with the theme of what you're saying, although I disagree with "the two aren't related" comment. Isaiah Horton is going to opt out because he's in the portal. Many others will as well. Just to keep it fair, I will acknowledge that the vast majority of opt outs have been for NFL draft reasons. I would have to do a deep dive to see what percentage falls on portal vs NFL and tbh, I'm too lazy to do the work. I'm too busy stealthily sloughing off at work to do real work like that.

I don't understand the difference between playing a ranked team in a bowl game vs playing in an opening round playoff game.
So they wouldn't play if we were in the playoffs? Why would the risk of injury there be any different? It's still a predecessor game before the Senior bowl. Would Horton hit the portal before a first round playoff game?

Ferman has been saying since the bowl was announced that Restrepo and Jalen Rivers weren't playing. When Cam announced he was playing, I thought for sure X would be right behind him. I saw him give an interview the other day and he said he wasn't sure if he was playing and was surprised. Especially since Cam has reiterated multiple times he is playing.

I guess I disagree that this bowl game is meaningless. It gets you 11 wins and it's against a ranked team. Why lose it before you play it?

It sure looked like Restrepo was practicing the other day. Maybe things have changed. Just seems out of character for him.

Its Miami's only ranked matchup of the season.

If Brashard Smith rips his ACL to shreds in Happy Valley, what was the point of him playing?

To be clear I Pray no player gets hurt, just saying.

I wonder how many canes collection members that are paying part of X NIL think the game doesnt matter?

You know who else doesnt think the game is meaningless? Iowa State, they are going to try to whip our ...

Good for X , very wise move , it’s only business now and needs to protect his product he’s more valuable then ever before.

He IS doing what’s BEST for his family 🙌
Man, going out there with a QB with a chip on his shoulder wanting to light up a D wouldn't hurt his future. This game could help him. Imagine Ward throwing for 500, and you're on the receiving end of 200 of them. Go make one last, big impression.

What are we doing man? I know he is represented by Rosenhaus Sports Agency/Shawn O'Dare former Miami player, but he is a 3rd/4th round pick, and his last time on field he fumbled the season away. Like there is no way X doesnt want to play in this bowl game.

These agents, Miami alums, are real friends of the program.

This is same sleezey group that pulled TVD to Bama stunt after spring practice, and shook down Miami for more money. Also pulled Colbie Young stunt that tried shaking down Miami for more money.

Restrepo isnt going to lose money playing in a bowl game unless a limb literally falls off. Its scare tactics by agents.

D and Ariz also saying on podcast Brown isnt playing and obviously not Horton.

We arent winning a bowl game without 3 of our top 4 WRs. Iowa State isnt going to have that sorta opt out impact.
In all honesty the bowl game is pointless. 90% of this board said the same thing when Fletcher got hurt. If you aren't playing in the playoffs it should just be treated like a spring game tbh. If a guy like Lagway got hurt playing in whatever garbage bowl game they are playing in and it was significant Billy would be done before the season started. I only mentioned Lagway because I refuse to jinx one of our players.

Who Miami fans think Ny Carr, Chance Robinson and Jo Jo Trader are

Great, he should sit. Whether the team wins or lose it has no affect on next season and this will give an opportunity for th young guys to play.

I completely support X's decision- whatever it is. The kid has earned the right. Its his career and future and he should make the right decision for him. He has to live with it either way.

The kid is Cane royalty in my book.

This man done put his body on the line for this U, broke records....

Man, nvm, you got it, shame on X considering opting out, that Pop Tart trophy is sooooooo cool and he shouldn't pass that **** up.
