Xavier Restrepo leaning towards not playing in bowl game..

Why aren’t the bowl games and/or their TV partners paying players to play?
Easiest way to resolve this issue IMO. Bowls should have an NIL budget per team and spread that money to the starters.

They give them the swag bags and call it square. Talking heads on sirius were saying throw away the swag and just cut the players a check the other day

These guys lost the chance to prove anything at Syracuse. The game is meaningless and why risk anything. This bull**** about momentum for next season is now hyping attendance and sales. The so called momentum is coming from the portal. Players who are disgruntled looking for a bigger pay day bringing their all about me attitudes. Besides I’ve seen enough of this years team.

If X plays great, if not then so what. Dude he accomplished so much during his time here. He could sit out in a meaningless bowl game, not risk injury and get ready for the draft. You all have seen what has happened in the last few bowl games Miami played in. King and Fletcher….that’s probably in the back of his mind.

I guarantee one thing. The same posters saying these guys (like X) shouldn't play and we should see the young kids play, are going to be the same posters complaining when we lose to Iowa State.
Maybe some but the majority? No. @RVACane won’t and some others. They may ***** about calls or coaching decisions as will I.

Would love to win but it’s meaningless. Play some kids who want to play.

As for one of the greats? Effort wise and statistically no doubt.

I do hope Cam plays because it’s good for the backups to get quality their way also. See what they have. Don’t need to see Emory.

What are we doing man? I know he is represented by Rosenhaus Sports Agency/Shawn O'Dare former Miami player, but he is a 3rd/4th round pick, and his last time on field he fumbled the season away. Like there is no way X doesnt want to play in this bowl game.

These agents, Miami alums, are real friends of the program.

This is same sleezey group that pulled TVD to Bama stunt after spring practice, and shook down Miami for more money. Also pulled Colbie Young stunt that tried shaking down Miami for more money.

Restrepo isnt going to lose money playing in a bowl game unless a limb literally falls off. Its scare tactics by agents.

D and Ariz also saying on podcast Brown isnt playing and obviously not Horton.

We arent winning a bowl game without 3 of our top 4 WRs. Iowa State isnt going to have that sorta opt out impact.
the game doesnt matter. who the **** cares. its a meaningless pop ******* tart bowl. the only bowls that matter are the playoffs. the rest are just money grabs

NIL is ruining the sport. Transfer portal started it

Put the two together you get mass exodus. Players without the stars buried with no hope because they just bring in more mercenary players and the low star players can’t risk leaving they have no film.

Let’s pay them more incentive.

For the love of the game.

You’re blaming agents for doing their jobs. This is how the system operates as set up now. Ultimately, the players make the decision to play or not, to ask for more money or not and to accept offers or not.
fwiw, if im his agent, im telling X dont play. getting hurt in this game right before the senior bowl which hes opting in and playing in and the combine isnt worth what the bowl game means = nothing.

he has nothing to prove by playing and all to risk.

How can anyone with an IQ over 75 be surprised by this?
How can anyone say that these meaningless bowl games aren't meaningless and keep a straight face?
Don't the opt outs prove that they're meaningless to the last few people out there who think they aren't?

Get mad at agents all you want; it's been this way for decades.
Get mad at NIL all ya want, but most on here are/were in favor of players getting paid; without limits I might add.
Get mad at poor culture/poor teammate all ya want, but remember that the portal that has added fuel to this fire is the same portal we are using to try to bring in St. John Mateer and fix our defense.

This is the new CFB and quite frankly, it sucks.

mccaffrey didnt play in the bowl game before the draft

this isnt NIL.

He said he was discussing with his agency whether to play or not, so this isnt injury related.

This is pure scare tactic by them.

He isnt going to cost himself all this money, another big Story created by agents.

2 of the worst bowl game injuries ever were to Jaylan Smith and Willis McGahee.

Smith made 33 million in NFL
McGahee made 32 million in the NFL
Oh okay. I should've did more reading.
