Who would you hire for HC?

I’m gonna need a better reason to like Matt Campbell than that, because Manny is literally 3 plays away from being 5-0 this season. So that doesn’t tell me anything.

Okay he is at a traditionally trashy program in a power 5 conference that routinely overachieves given his location, program history, and resources relative to the competition he plays. For instance when Al Golden wins 8 games in his crap conference and people get excited, they lack context because Golden had easily the biggest recruiting budget, resources, etc in his conference yet he couldn't win it.

When Campbell wins 8 games in an actual power 5 conference and is actually several plays from being 5-0 he is doing it while having half the support, recruiting resources, coaching budget, etc that his opponents have.

The difference in what 8 games 'means' between those two coaches is vast (throw Mullen into the Campbell group).

First thing I'd do....call the BOT and our incompetent AD into a room and have every single one of them write down their top 5 choices for the job.

I'd then proceed to eliminate every single ******* name those ******** listed.

Bill Clark--UAB
Jason Candle--Toledo
Mike Leach--Wazzu(This would be my fallback, I would also pay him peanuts in order to surround him with the best staff I could possibly put together)

In a sane world, Miami would have a booster stand up, buy out Diaz, and then go out and make a hard push for Campbell at Iowa State.

You and I always seem to be close in opinion. I think Mike Gundy would've been a fun, charismatic, winner. Whats your take on him?

I’ve been wanted Gundy; what he’s able to do w 3 star talent is unbelievable!!! I just gave up on him and Patterson deeming them unrealistic.

If Gundy was afforded a good DC, I think we blow everyone out w him running the show. His play calling fits So Fla athletes.

Gundy has managed to be mediocre with TB Pickens money. Not the kind of guy Miami needs. Miami needs someone that can get more out of less and develop talent. Gundy doesn't do that, he lands some good talent, beats the teams he should, and rarely beats anyone of equal or better talent. At Miami, that'll get you 7-9 wins per year, maybe.

Once again, Gundy has had access to TB Pickens money and can't get better talent? I think people underestimate some of the guys he's had available to him, and how mediocre he's looked in a conference in which no one plays defense worth a ****. The guy is good where he is, but there are coaches out there that I'm more enamored with. Unless Gundy came in and really smoked the interview, I don't think he'd be my guy.

His charisma and Idgaf is perfect for us and would help in recruiting. He'd tell off the media, tell off the fans, tell off the players and then go win a game and we'd all be like okay coach. His O would be so much fun, and would eat the Corstal up. The only question would be can he win a National Title, but thats always the question until you do.

He coaches in Stillwater, OK. Its kind of amazing that Oklahoma has managed to be good in this day of CF, but OKST? He's done everything he can for them, the team has peaked.

I gotta disagree w u my man. I think Gundy does a really good job w the guys he recruits. He identifies who fits his system and exploit the chit outta them. OSU ain’t some recruiting machine.

Furthermore, were gonna be a 3* & 4* program for a few seasons under him. Its wise to get a coach that wins with them all the time, but is looking to try his hand at the big boy table.

Both Miles and Johnson were average at OkSt but left and won national championships at LSU and Miami respectively. I'd love to see what he could do here.

Unless Miami displays the financial commitment why would a successful coach already making $4-5M leave his job for an office in Coral Gables?

Gundy? All he has to do is win 9 games and occasionally beat OU or Texas. Win every other bowl game. Same with probably anyone else you can name. Miami needs a young, talented, ambitions mercenary.

If Miami called and inquired I tell them I want $6M and another $7M for staff. And a larger infrastructure budget than what Miami is spending now.
