Who would you hire for HC?

Not Christobal. Getting shutout at home to cal in the 3rd qtr with a first round qb.
First off learn how to spell his name right. Second Mario has zero interest in coming back home. Third you are clueless.

You have to blow it up entirely unfortunately. From Admin all the way down to the recruiting assistants. Give Stephen Ross credit and I have been one of his harshest critics. It takes a lot to admit you failed your team and nuke the entire organization and build it back up from stratch.

Until you have a strong football guy as opposed to a yes man bureaucrat puppet like Blake James except more of the same perhaps even worse...

It doesn't matter.

The decision makers do not have the chest nor the capital to really play with the big boys. We are a nickel and dime operation just pulling on the handle of the slot machine hoping we win big on this embarrassing budget we've got going. Lightening in a bottle.

Miami has had a chance to get Mike Leach, Dan Mullen, Mario Cristobal and passed on these guys multiple times. I don't even think those guys are championship winning coaches, but they would not have produced this shameful product over the past 15 years. Those guys at least have their teams consistently in the Top 25 by seasons end or pull in an obscene amount of talent. Yeah, they are flawed, but they were on our doorstep multiple times and we've passed on them for legitimate cheap slop and this is where we are now.

Boxing another problem is that no top tier coach would want this job. Even the guys you mentioned above have zero interest of coming to UM at this point. Thank God I got to live thru the 80's, early 90's, 2000 and 2001. In my opinion, we will never get back to those glory days.

...at this point. I agree with you.

However, at different points, they all had legitimate interest (and yes, I know of your connection with Mario)...and we thoroughly passed. The Mullen interest was very real for years.

Florida is now a Top 10 team in the country. Miami is now in the toilet.

Mario and Mullen wanted this job badly, but unfortunately that ship has sailed and we cannot go back. We are in the toilet and we need to realize that this is not a great job.

I'd be fine with Norvell or Babers. I'd love to take a long look at Matt Campbell as well. But honestly, we need a quick fix. A big name that will bring a big staff. Our ***** *** administration won't do it, but you have to go for a proven coach at this point in time. No more cheap hires. Only legit coaches. Try and steal someone
I'm happy with hiring someone like Campbell and paying for his entire staff to come over.

We're not getting an established 'top tier' coach, no. We need to hit on a coach on his way up to that elite tier - entice him with the old 'sleeping giant' / recruiting grounds pitch over somewhere with more money / boosters.

Of course you need a competent AD to do that, so we're ****ed.

Only coaches who we have a shot at. Not saying I prefer these names or want these names. When it comes to coaches who have experience and major schools the list as as follows.

Mark Stoops
Hugh Freeze
PJ Fleck
Les Miles
Mario Cristabol

Young HCs and Assistants
Neal Brown
Jason Candle
Mike Norvel
LukeFickel
Alex Grinch
Jim Leonard

Outside the Box
Marvin Lewis
Eric Mangini

Greg Schianno

Get rid of Blake james first. This ticket panhandling ****** will just hire yet another failure, probably steal willie taggart from FSU or maybe see if al golden wants to go on a richt-esque redemption tour.

Way more than decent, he's doing a very good job at Cal in his 2nd year.

People don't know about Wilcox, but he's a young upcoming Defensive minded coach that came up under Chris Petersen at Boise St early in his career.

He always has a **** good secondary with his Defenses.
He has to get rid of his OC though. Dude’s #’s suck.

Diaz was desperate to come here from Temple, please tell me he doesn't have any type of buyout.

Here is the criteria

-Do not hire anyone that has ever been fired, anywhere, at any point. (I'll take my chances passing up on the next Belichick, who was fired by Cleveland)
-Do not hire anyone without HC experience. We don't have the decision makers to make a Frost type hire.
-Do not hire anyone from a failed regime
-Coach must show prolonged success vs peer opponents in conference.
-Don't even think about culture fit, **** it, thats peripheral nonsense that'll over complicate things
-Go with an offensive minded coach. Would much rather an offensive HC pick his d coordinator, than a DC picking an OC. Defensive minded coaches are often ****ed up in he head about what type of TOP oriented offense they want to run.
-This is probably going to overlap with not hiring anyone who's been fired or doesn't have prolonged success, but don't make a "Recruiter" hire. We need schematic advantage. No one, and I mean no one is talking kids away from bags to play at Miami at this point. Show kids schematic advantage and competency, and more will stay home.

Norvell fits the mold off the top of my head.
Although defensive minded, what Bill Clark is doing at UAB is eye popping, just want to see more sample. Would have to know his plans for offense.
