Who would you hire for HC?

Only way this works. Manny walks away. Blake gets gone somehow. Hire a REAL AD. Hire Urban (would not have believed I'd be saying this a year ago). REAL AD and Urban would clean house. Change everything. Build it right yet win early on in spite of total rebuild. Croots would flock here. We need a no nonsense HC backed by a REAL AD and others. Yes, it's gonna cost many pesos.

Urban would never come here even if we had the money.

I still like Mike Gundy. He's a hard@ss with charisma. He's good at developing 3* & 4* talent which is what we are now. He's also not BSing you when he says he knows how to win, that kind of genuine attitude will do recruiting good if can prove it on the field. He's developed a bunch of Coordinators. Get him & Yost together and your O is gonna put up 40+ most of the time. Add dare I say a Randy Shannon type 4-3 DC and your cooking. He's also done everything he can do at OKSt, all thats left for him is a program that has either money or access to recruits to win nationally. I think he'd win at Miami, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State etc.

Matt Campbell, Mike Norvell, Dino Babers, Herm Edwards, Cristobal, Venables.
Herm would be a home run. But I don't think he would leave ASU. Marvin Lewis is a special assistant there that could be interesting. He is not going to get another NFL job. Plenty of experience defensive guy. Think he could put together an empressive staff as well.

At this point from a HC perspective Norvell is the most realistic financially and best option given his seasoning and performance as an up and comer like Memphis. Also love Matt Campbell who is a couple plays from being 5-0 this year at Iowa State.

If we go the assistant route I would like to:

1. Fire Enos and replace with Sean Gleeson at Oklahoma State (formerly Princeton), Brandon Streeter (Clemson's QB coach last 5 years who also has been OC at Richmond), or someone like Yost. Guys who have been successful running or co-running exciting top offenses before with experience against power 5 defenses.

2. Fire Butch Barry and go hard after Alex Mirabal at Oregon to come home.

Am fine with remaining offensive staff. Yes Stubblefield has quietly improved our wide receivers.

For defense:

3. Fire Baker and go after: David Reaves at UAB (Broyles semi-finalist last year and doing great this year) or Phil Parker at Iowa. Seasoned DC with consistency of success.

4. Fire Stroud and replace with Charlie Partridge at Pitt (and make associated HC). They're second in the nation in sacks and he recruits South Florida very well.

5. Fire Patke and replace with Jovan Dewitt at Army, a good special teams and lb coach.

6. Fire Banda and hire: Fran Brown at Temple as assistant dc/db coach.

7. Remove Rumph and let Van Dyke be the assistant DB coach/recruiter who can learn under Brown for a couple years as the main guy and be a recruiter.

Doubtful Urban would come here for a number of reasons, including his UF pedigree, lack of prestige, and lack of money that Miami would put up. I also am not sure Miami would take the risk with him. He lets a lot of stuff slide. At Miami, that sort of stuff comes out, and we get hosed. That being said, he is easily the number one target in the country and should be. IMO, there is no better CFB coach in America, including Saban.

Realistically, Babers is probably the guy we would go after or Cristobal, though I am sick of the inbred hires. We need someone different, someone innovative. Norvell is a nice candidate also. I wonder if he has the defensive acumen or head coaching skillset to hire the right DC. Is he the next superstar or the next Sumlin?

Regardless, I think Blake James (who should be the first one fired) will give Manny a chance to remedy, ie make changes to his staff, allow the offensive playbook to settle in with year 2, and allow him to bring in some players. This wasn't a reload for Manny. It's a full on rebuild. Clearly, he has to make changes to his staff.

It makes me so sick we have this thread 5 games into the first season what most of us thought was a program headed in the right direction.

And I mean that in a way agreeing 100% Manny is awful.

Complete disaster. Thread is a pipedream. Manny is getting 3 years at least even if he goes 5-7

Just spit balling here, but say Manny is released because there's a new AD (I dont think thats gonna happen), what about a care taker coach like Cutcliffe? I know he's not 45 and charismatic, but he knows his GD football.

I’m gonna need a better reason to like Matt Campbell than that, because Manny is literally 3 plays away from being 5-0 this season. So that doesn’t tell me anything.
