Utough Weight Room results for Offense

I am surprised at Tucker's numbers. Anytime your bench is the same as your squat, something is wrong.

I also think some of these guys squat #'s are a little low. JMO

Nobody comes close to squatting their true max for safety purposes. It's been that way for years and there are always guys with 400+ BP and ~500 squat.

Im not as concerned about the numbers as some of you, but the things i dont understand are a lot of the players verticals and power cleans. The workouts they are doing clearly don't translate to gains in those because so many guys decreased that I just dont get it. I sure hope those improve by the end of the summer.

Some positives though are seeing Feleciano and Isadora's numbers. They both did well on all their lifts. Flowers did pretty well on squat and bench as well, but im real confused by his clean. There's got to be a reason why its so low cuz a guy like him should be able to toss that type of weight with no problem.

One more positive is seeing the rbs. Dukes numbers were solid for a guy his size and im guessing they probably would have been even better if he didnt get hurt because im sure he couldnt do a lot of lifting for a fair amount of time. And Gus is definitely a freak. Some people love him, some people dont, but no one can deny that he is a crazy good athlete. He wasnt here during the spring or even the summer and he already squats 425 and cleans almost 325. His bench could be a bit higher but im sure when we see his numbers next year, it will be. Add that to the fact that he runs a 4.5 while weighing 235. That's some pretty good stuff. If he can actually learn how to play RB he really could be a good one.

Duke's 31 inch vert is a bit disturbing to say the least.

this. Went down 5 inches.

Not being a smart ***, but what were you guys expecting four months off a broken ankle? Were y'all expecting improvement or the same vert? Both seem unrealistic.

The one person on this team, player or coach, I am not worried about is Duke Johnson. Criminoles had to break hi leg to stop him. If we have 5 or 10 more Dukes, we would be the Canes of old. When have you seen a passing team's season end when a RB went down. He is the team.

Does anyone know how the testing works?

Is there just one "test day" where the players test all of their lifts, do they test them over the course of a week to allow some rest before maxing out, or are these just maxes based on whatever they did during the training camp?

But you can't know how he'll perform coming off a serious injury. Bush is a case in point.

I understand that but still, if you're bench shouldn't be the same as your squat. Unless he's nursing an injury or something.

Most schools have a week of testing before spring ball or things like that. Let's them get their numbers in whatever they choose to test but reduce the overall work they're doing so they're "relatively" fresh for practice and things.

Glad to see duke is coming on strong after that ankle injury.. 31 vert is pretty good considering he broke his **** in November

I don't think Vert is that important for Duke anyway... Yea yea explosiveness but Duke has proven his worth... He'll be explosive as he continues to recover. I just hope the added weight doesn't slow him down... Most of Duke yards came from out running people...

Bush had surgery for sports hernia in May. Not really a fair comparison. Duke will be full
go in the summer.

Stop looking at the max numbers and look at IMPROVEMENT instead. You can't blame Swasey for a guy squatting 400 when he came in here only squatting 325.

It's very obvious to me that many South Florida athletes don't (or barely) train properly in high school. That would explain the fact that they put up decent bench numbers but poor squat and clean numbers.

You can point to LSU or Bama all you want but those teams are RECRUITING ****-strong country boys who were DEVELOPED IN HIGH SCHOOL.

This is just another instance where the poor coaching in South Florida sets us back a little bit.
