I say no because of the competition he faces at Tulane

He had a few good games vs solid competition as a freshman. The potential is there.

Ward played in pac 12 prior to coming here. We saw him against p5 comp every week.

We did have talks with Arch last year btw.

If I’m looking for someone to step in and do as close to what Cam Ward could do from arm talent, pocket awareness, pre snap IQ, etc.. obviously you won’t be finding it in the portal this year at that level. If you’re trying to get the closest for next year, I don’t think it’s Mensah. I think you’d have to take a chance on Arnold’s tools and IQ.

If you’re wanting a possible 3 year guy that gets there in year 2-3, he’s your guy. But there’s going to be a short fall next year and he’s going to have growing pains.

Joe Craddock did a good job easing him in, which you obviously have to do with a first time starter RS freshman with multiple solid P4 opponents in the first 3 games.

I’m going to get negged but I like Braylon Braxton over him. IQ matters to me as well.

Plenty of dudes have tools but don’t have the IQ to execute and Mensah’s game vs. OU is a problem for me.

At least with Braxton, I don’t have the same high dollar amount, he’ll make a play here and there, and won’t turn the ball over. It allows to use money elsewhere as well.

Let’s face it, we were blessed someone on the level of Cam was transferring. Only way we come close to matchingit is if Ewers transfers. We should focus on being a power run team who eats TOP and the middle of the field. That’s going to be our strength.

I watched him against Memphis on Thanksgiving. He dropped more than a few in the bucket. Also had a few bombs that ended in fumbles. Throws a **** good deep ball. Now what he looks against better comp, idk. But he’s a good young QB.
