Tulane QB Darian Mensah enters the Portal

Why would he be #1
He’s only a freshman and i think he has the highest potential of who is in the portal so far, 3 years of eligibility left. Mobility, arm talent, accuracy and processing, good pocket management, attacks the mof.

I think he would fit with dawson, and im not completely sold on mateer fitting..Wont be mad at getting him either tho lol

I think you follow Tulane

Would you pay him?

I don't know, honestly. The coaches did a lot to protect him at Tulane. He was good, don't get me wrong, but he was in a run first offense that had a 1,400 yard RB. Tulane ran for over 200 yards a game. He wasn't asked to throw it 30+ times a game, and rarely did. Tulane had very good WRs in Mario Williams and Yulkeith Brown too, which helped him.

All that to say, I don't know how he'd look in Dawson's offense. Maybe he'd be fine. He is talented, obviously, but the coaches protected him this year for a reason. Part of it was he was a freshman, but part of it was they didn't think he could go out and win games on his own.

Now, with all of that said, I'd take him over Jackson Arnold in a heartbeat. Arnold can barely complete a forward pass.

I'm saying I'm not sure I'd pay him, specifically, that much. He's good, but he was a game manager this year.
The market for transfer qb's will only increase. He definitely doesn't deserve Cam money but he'll get 7 figures considering he was productive and has the multiple years of eligibility. I think he fits here very well. Our OL and run game takes pressure off him and he's great with his legs and we need that.

If I’m looking for someone to step in and do as close to what Cam Ward could do from arm talent, pocket awareness, pre snap IQ, etc.. obviously you won’t be finding it in the portal this year at that level. If you’re trying to get the closest for next year, I don’t think it’s Mensah. I think you’d have to take a chance on Arnold’s tools and IQ.

If you’re wanting a possible 3 year guy that gets there in year 2-3, he’s your guy. But there’s going to be a short fall next year and he’s going to have growing pains.

Joe Craddock did a good job easing him in, which you obviously have to do with a first time starter RS freshman with multiple solid P4 opponents in the first 3 games.

they are definitely looking at him. I just dont love the idea of a G5 guy.
Ya want more years of Ward but would pass on him coming out of incarnate world (not saying this kid is Ward at that level) Disclaimer.. You want multi year QB, well get in on ground floor.. Or you want sure thing with experience and 5 star.. Call up Manning and offer 100 mill to leave texas LMAOO

Ward played in pac 12 prior to coming here. We saw him against p5 comp every week.

We did have talks with Arch last year btw.
