There are only three things fans can do...

FROM CHAMPS TO CHUMPS. THANKS BUTCH!

That sign flew in 1997. When Butch was putting together the greatest college football roster of all time and a staff littered with future NFL and college head coaches.

I'm glad they didn't force a change then.
Forced him to shake up his staff. Glad that worked. As much as people want to revise history as it pertains to Davis, he never won anything here and gagged in 2000 with a championship roster.

haa! you have such one sided takes sometime. Butch would have won the ship that year if they had got it right and had us in the title game, instead they had a team we beat, FSU with their 30year old QB and dumb as traitor Snoop Minis… We ended up going to the Sugar Bowl in N.O. to destroy the Gaytors. ****, with Butch at the helm, we would have won at least 3 in a row. Coker is probably the worst coach to ever coach a Championship team and its all in thanks to Butch's recruiting….

You're all about the coaches sometimes. There are a lot of smart people who think Davis would have gagged away at least a game in 2001 just like he did in 2000, and we wouldn't have played in the NC game that year either. With that roster he had, he shouldn't have had to leave it up to fickle voters in 2000.

Could you imagine that spastic on the sidelines of the BC game or the VT game that year melting down and making his players nervous? I don't even want to think about it. Coker, for all his faults, wipes his *** with Davis on gamedays. He simply couldn't get it done in recruiting or keeping the program together.

how am i all about the coaches, i thought Coker and Shannon were a disgrace to this university and should never be even considered for a head coaching job anywhere ever. And i'm not confident D'onfrio is the right guy either, but Golden is confident he will turn this around with the right talent and i have Golden's back!

I think you're playing the result here. It was Coker that almost lost to VT and BC with all that talent he had, not Davis. In 2000 Davis beat #2 VT by 20pts and BC 52-6... Davis's only loss came in the beginning of the season up in Washington to a top 4 team in the nation with a young Dorsey starting his first game. He got behind in the first half and then proceeded to dominate from the 2nd half of that game to the end of the season…

Davis also struggled badly with Louisiana Tech that year, and that cost us dearly in the polls. Had he made up for his early season gag against Warshington and buried La Tech like he should have, then we still would have gone to the NC game. Instead, he choked up again when the chips were on the table. The dude was a bum the whole time he was here aside from one year where he did well. He did the same **** at UNC when he stockpiled their roster with NFL players and still couldn't even win the sorry *** ACC Coastal.

Our defense sucks, but our fans are a disgrace!!!

LULZ. The fans who are upset and raising **** are trying to force necessary changes. Change doesn't happen on its own. Getting sour at UM fans for being fed up with a historically bad defense 3 years in and trying to force a guy to fire his clearly incompetent pal seems misplaced at best. Some of us are unwilling to sit back and pretend things are fine and hope that he fires his best man of his own volition.

Thing is, if Al DOES choose to fire Donofrio, you'll sit back pound your chest and claim you "actually FORCED change". When in reality it could have been his plan all along.

Al will make a change if HE feels it necessary to help move the program forward. Not because a couple dozen internet commandos are going ape ****.

I'll credit the hardcore Canes fan nation for forcing the change, not myself. You can poo poo the affect of disgruntled fans all you want, but you sound like a dinosaur when you do it.

P.S. It's a lot more more than a couple dozen internet fans who want this defense changed.

Except you'll (and the hardcore canes nation LULZ) take credit for something you haven't earned. Fact is Al will make the change HE feels is best to move the program forward. If he feels removing Coach D will help accomplish that, then I'm sure he'll make the change. He made the change, not you.

I highly doubt that the admin is going to step in and give Al an ultimatum. Anyone with a brain knows that isn't happening at this stage. Now maybe in two, three years, but Al has EARNED the right after this NCAA mess to right the ship, how HE sees fit.

If in two years Al is still getting "drug by his nostrils" by these mediocre teams, then the admin. will prob. step in.

Go ahead and keep believing the fans have nothing to do with corching changes. I'd direct you to Donna Shalala's comments after she fired Shannvo. She clearly stated that a big part of the reason she got rid of him was the fans' discontent. Happens everywhere.

Don't be so naive to think that teams and universities would choose to eat big contracts if the fans didn't start withholding their money. It's a money-driven game. If you think a career .500 corch like Al Tin, who hasn't stopped anyone here in 3 years, has complete autonomy with this football program, then I got some great swamp land to sell you.

I will never blame another fan for not wanting to go spend their hard-earned money to go sit in an empty stadium to watch their team get dominated by a 2-8 UVA team.

UF's attendance has gone down because they suck. FSU's was down when they sucked too. Only difference is our attendance was already bad to begin with.

I thought Miami won that game?

School wasn't in session so attendance was going to be impacted. The rain certainly didn't help. Many of you "F@ck Manny Fire Dorito" guys are screaming about boycotting and the sky is falling and then you yell at the fans for not showing up.

Bottom line is stadium seats something like 75,000 while total enrollment is 15,000ish. Stadium is over an hour away from campus. Sitting in the heat and/or rain is an issue. Finally, this isn't Ames, Iowa and there are a few distractions around town.

I live in California so I can't go but I would if I could. Maybe more people would go if there was a more positive attitude about the program from its hard core fan base (internet Discussion Boards) and a little more patience (this isn't 2001). Barely a month from the end of an NCAA scandal that surely slowed momentum and team is 8 - 3. Few cupcakes along the way, maybe, but sh@t could be a lot worse.

I never said fans don't have a say. I said "isn't happening at this stage", which it won't. Al has earned the right to make those decisions autonomously, at this point in time.

So what was the excuse against Wake Forest when they were 6-0?

Still trying to force changes?

People in SoFl don't want to see Wake Forest. They never have.

Although, UM says there were 66,160 for that game.

Don't yell at me, they aren't my numbers.

And for the record, I was there yesterday, supporting the seniors and my team. You are not a fan if you didnt go because you are ****ed, or you want to make a statement.

Likewise and the weather for over a half was terrible. I can understand those who don't live here not showing up but there's no excuse bailing on your team on senior day.

Understood but I disagree with #2. If you have a recruit, acting like a ****** (Lane), he deserves to be labeled as one. I can understand if people disagree with that, but that's how I feel.

Wait until after signing day.

If a guy like Sony Michel starts having second thoughts, you don't want him to have a negative impression of Miami because of our fans. He is a guy that can make a difference in wins and losses.

Bridgewater cited Miami's "abusive" fanbase as one of the reasons he chose Louisville. The fans said "that shows he isn't mentally tough." He is now considered one of the most mentally tough players in the country, as well as one of the best.

This isn't about what's right or wrong. It's about doing our small part to help this program acquire talent and win games.

Aren't you the one that's running a very popular message board that gives a very loud voice to said abusive fans. I'm not saying.......I'm just saying.

We give everyone a voice. I'm giving my opinion.

The fans will be heard one way or the other. If it's not here it's Twitter or other social media. Doesn't mean I agree with it.

Al hasn't earned **** at this point. He's barely earned the right to keep his own job. He's barely a .500 corch.

We need our own stadium, smaller with seats closer to the field and it needs to be as close to campus as possible. My level of hate for that stadium cannot be expressed in words.

Just my opinion, but this is what's REALLY holding the program back. Coaches come and go, but we simply cannot stay in that shytehole and expect to ever maintain an elite program. Again, just my opinion, and I realize that it's a pipe dream that we get our own stadium any time soon.

Stadium has nothing to do with why Miami loses football games. The 1987 Canes, for example, would have been just as good if they had played all of their home games in a high school stadium.

And the New Orleans Saints would be the same team regardless of where they are playing. But we are talking about the overall picture of the program. We need a stadium. I wish UM had built one in 1926 when it was on the campus plan but we didnt. I wish the city hadn't back doored a deal that got the OB demolished and put South Florida on the hook for a cool $Billion in bonds, but they did. The point is the stadium is awful for the university and the program. But, yeah, the 1987 Canes were special, so special if they played in a high school stadium, they still would have been the 1987 Canes.

My point is that if Miami is back to a championship level, it doesn't matter where Miami plays games. Furthermore, Miami has been fine without its own stadium, winning five national titles. If having not having an on campus stadium was such a detriment, Miami would have never won anything. Miami recruits at an elite level without an on campus stadium. I just do not see any correlation between a stadium and winning. In fact, Miami's history clearly shows otherwise.

I'm not saying you are doing this, but many that blame any of Miami's failures on the lack of its own stadium are just deflecting/making excuses from the real problem. Miami has been terrible the past decade because of bad coaching (Coker and Shannon, Golden yet to be determined) and not by any stadium issues. By virtue of its location in the most fertile recruiting ground in the country, Miami will ALWAYS be just one good coach away from competing for national titles (I hope Golden will be this guy but if not, on to the next).

Don't get me wrong, I would love for a new on campus stadium. But not having one has no bearing on the on field play of the football team.

So what was the excuse against Wake Forest when they were 6-0?

Still trying to force changes?

Compare the Weak Florist turnout to the Uvag turnout. Not even close. The fans were still warming up to the team at that point after many years of being fed garbage. UM's a small private school. I'm not sure you guys get that. And the stadium we play in is nowhere near campus.

It's pretty tough to expect the locals to fill an 80K stadium that's nowhere near campus when the team has sucked for a long time. They showed up for FSU and wound up eating another giant ****.

I dont know who it was but some poster in this thread said we never turn out in force. Only for FSU other then that its about 45k? LOL. Dude, you just showed your age there. You clearly never went to any games in the mid 80s or early 90s. UM wins, people want to be at the games. Just like EVERY OTHER team in this city. Im looking at the Dolphin game on TV as im typing this and their attendance aint that great either. There is only ONE ticket in town at the moment and that is the Miami Heat. Hmmmmmmmm..I wonder why?

Anyway, I agree with all your points Dmoney. Anyone who bashes recruits and players on Twitter probably has no life or has no girlfriend/wife and you DEFINITELY dont have any sidechicks either. Because if you did, you wouldnt have time for all that kiddie crap.

But I disagree on Teddy Bridgewater. Dude is a lame, a disgrace to SoFla, and I wish him no luck. Turned his back on Al and then gave a lame excuse on why he did. Because of the fans?? Smh. Eli Rodgers too. Following Teddy around like a lap dog.

I am old fart...sat in the OB in the 80s and 90s to ****** crowds with good teams being played...sat in the OB on a thursday night when we played WVU...we were number 1 or 2 ESPN game had not been beat in 20+ games and there was like 40K of is there....I will post attendance for you on every game played by um in the 80s and 90s...fans only sell out FSU, UF OK, Washington NIGHT GAME....that is it....

The social media outlets aren't a central meeting place for all the loud mouths. When guys want to talk sh*t and be heard, they know exactly where to go. If not for this and other similar sites the vast majority of these guys would just be a tree falling in the wilderness. I am not bashing you or your site, I'm here quite often. I am just pointing out that you are complaining about what guys saying while you (and others) are handing them a megaphone. Its been well established that once you get enough guys in a room without any rules, a lot of dumb crazy things will be said and done. I am not even advocating censorship, because it would be suicide unless all the sites agree to do it. I am just pointing out a little..........

UM does not have an attendance problem, they have a lousy business model problem. No ceo worth his or her(hello donna) salt would put a super-walmart in the middle of a one horse town in the middle of Idaho and expect to succeed. One of the most important things in business is to know your market, and UM clearly doesn't. You will never succeed if your sales plan is to beg or shame uninterested consumers into buying your product. The stadium is too big for UM's market, plain and simple.
