There are only three things fans can do...

You left out that fans can force change. If the fans didn't force it, then corches wouldn't get fired.

FROM CHAMPS TO CHUMPS. THANKS BUTCH!

That sign flew in 1997. When Butch was putting together the greatest college football roster of all time and a staff littered with future NFL and college head coaches.

I'm glad they didn't force a change then.
Forced him to shake up his staff. Glad that worked. As much as people want to revise history as it pertains to Davis, he never won anything here and gagged in 2000 with a championship roster.

haa! you have such one sided takes sometime. Butch would have won the ship that year if they had got it right and had us in the title game, instead they had a team we beat, FSU with their 30year old QB and dumb as traitor Snoop Minis… We ended up going to the Sugar Bowl in N.O. to destroy the Gaytors. ****, with Butch at the helm, we would have won at least 3 in a row. Coker is probably the worst coach to ever coach a Championship team and its all in thanks to Butch's recruiting….

You're all about the coaches sometimes. There are a lot of smart people who think Davis would have gagged away at least a game in 2001 just like he did in 2000, and we wouldn't have played in the NC game that year either. With that roster he had, he shouldn't have had to leave it up to fickle voters in 2000.

Could you imagine that spastic on the sidelines of the BC game or the VT game that year melting down and making his players nervous? I don't even want to think about it. Coker, for all his faults, wipes his *** with Davis on gamedays. He simply couldn't get it done in recruiting or keeping the program together.

I dont know who it was but some poster in this thread said we never turn out in force. Only for FSU other then that its about 45k? LOL. Dude, you just showed your age there. You clearly never went to any games in the mid 80s or early 90s. UM wins, people want to be at the games. Just like EVERY OTHER team in this city. Im looking at the Dolphin game on TV as im typing this and their attendance aint that great either. There is only ONE ticket in town at the moment and that is the Miami Heat. Hmmmmmmmm..I wonder why?

Anyway, I agree with all your points Dmoney. Anyone who bashes recruits and players on Twitter probably has no life or has no girlfriend/wife and you DEFINITELY dont have any sidechicks either. Because if you did, you wouldnt have time for all that kiddie crap.

But I disagree on Teddy Bridgewater. Dude is a lame, a disgrace to SoFla, and I wish him no luck. Turned his back on Al and then gave a lame excuse on why he did. Because of the fans?? Smh. Eli Rodgers too. Following Teddy around like a lap dog.

...to affect the outcome of a college football game.

Number one, show up to the games. Give the home team energy, make it hard for the opponents and create a good atmosphere for the recruits. Easy enough. But some of us chose not to go yesterday to "make a statement" or because "the kids are soft."

Number two, don't call active recruits ******s on the internet. Self-explanatory. But we can't do that.

Number three, give money to the program without turning into a ****ing snitch to the NCAA. We can't do that, either.

Yes, the defense sucks. The fans are sucking worse. Step your game up and be part of the solution.

The solution is coaching changes on the defensive side of the ball. And sometimes the best way to make your sentiment felt is to not show up or financially support the product.
Why do some people act like they are better than others because they go to every game and cheer?

It cost money & time to go to Canes games. Some people have families they'd rather spend time with than watch uninspired football.

So give me a break with the super fan ****. Put a better product on the field or at the very least one that looks like they want to be out there and you'll see more fan support.

how am i all about the coaches, i thought Coker and Shannon were a disgrace to this university and should never be even considered for a head coaching job anywhere ever. And i'm not confident D'onfrio is the right guy either, but Golden is confident he will turn this around with the right talent and i have Golden's back!

I think you're playing the result here. It was Coker that almost lost to VT and BC with all that talent he had, not Davis. In 2000 Davis beat #2 VT by 20pts and BC 52-6... Davis's only loss came in the beginning of the season up in Washington to a top 4 team in the nation with a young Dorsey starting his first game. He got behind in the first half and then proceeded to dominate from the 2nd half of that game to the end of the season…

Technically, the Washington game was his (Dorsey's) 4th start and he played a lot vs VT and Georgia Tech the year before. I think we lost because of a refusal to put Portis in earlier and an overall bad game plan vs T-Alphabet. Oh, and we got fuggin jobbed on virtually every call by the refs that day. But other than that.....

a championship roster that was not ready to win yet (at least not ready to win a tough road game at the beginning of the year -pretty sure they would have smoked anyone by the end of the year.) Listen, Butch may have had his warts as a gameday coach, but the reality is he put together the most talented college football team of all time. It was a team that was set up so nicely that even a boob like Larry Coker could lead them to the promised land.

We need our own stadium, smaller with seats closer to the field and it needs to be as close to campus as possible. My level of hate for that stadium cannot be expressed in words.

Just my opinion, but this is what's REALLY holding the program back. Coaches come and go, but we simply cannot stay in that shytehole and expect to ever maintain an elite program. Again, just my opinion, and I realize that it's a pipe dream that we get our own stadium any time soon.
Agreed. There is no other legitimate program with a gameday atmosphere this bad.

Not showing up for games does not help the already difficult stadium atmosphere. That is a poor excuse for those jumping on Golden for making excuses. The players deserve our support. They have nothing to do with where they play. If you think acting like bit*** about the stadium does not effect recruits you are sorely mistaken. It is what is it is. Get over it and go out and watch the **** game.

Which is precisely my point. The stadium is awful. And our awful play amplifies it. Whatever home field advantage one is suppose to have is sucked right out of that stadiums far away seats, the concrete that absorbs noise, and a stadium that magnifies we are playing in a place roughly double the size of our needs. I hate every aspect of that stadium, from the overpriced parking to the overpriced food to the vantage point I have even while paying three times what I payed at the OB.

D$, start banning the ******** that keep posting negative stuff. Frankly, they ruin the site anyway.

And for the record, I was there yesterday, supporting the seniors and my team. You are not a fan if you didnt go because you are ****ed, or you want to make a statement.

The stadium makes our fan support look a lot worse than it is. We are a small private school in a big city, very difficult to fill up an 80K stadium for a game against 2-8 Virginia. Even when it's a decent crowd of 40K or more the place still looks empty and pathetic. Oregon has one of the most hostile venues and it holds about 50K. That is what we need, when we play the no name schools and bring 35-45K, that crowd would still create a decent environment for the team.

Stadium has nothing to do with why Miami loses football games. The 1987 Canes, for example, would have been just as good if they had played all of their home games in a high school stadium.

Our defense sucks, but our fans are a disgrace!!!

LULZ. The fans who are upset and raising **** are trying to force necessary changes. Change doesn't happen on its own. Getting sour at UM fans for being fed up with a historically bad defense 3 years in and trying to force a guy to fire his clearly incompetent pal seems misplaced at best. Some of us are unwilling to sit back and pretend things are fine and hope that he fires his best man of his own volition.

Thing is, if Al DOES choose to fire Donofrio, you'll sit back pound your chest and claim you "actually FORCED change". When in reality it could have been his plan all along.

Al will make a change if HE feels it necessary to help move the program forward. Not because a couple dozen internet commandos are going ape ****.

I'll credit the hardcore Canes fan nation for forcing the change, not myself. You can poo poo the affect of disgruntled fans all you want, but you sound like a dinosaur when you do it.

P.S. It's a lot more more than a couple dozen internet fans who want this defense changed.

Except you'll (and the hardcore canes nation LULZ) take credit for something you haven't earned. Fact is Al will make the change HE feels is best to move the program forward. If he feels removing Coach D will help accomplish that, then I'm sure he'll make the change. He made the change, not you.

I highly doubt that the admin is going to step in and give Al an ultimatum. Anyone with a brain knows that isn't happening at this stage. Now maybe in two, three years, but Al has EARNED the right after this NCAA mess to right the ship, how HE sees fit.

If in two years Al is still getting "drug by his nostrils" by these mediocre teams, then the admin. will prob. step in.

And the New Orleans Saints would be the same team regardless of where they are playing. But we are talking about the overall picture of the program. We need a stadium. I wish UM had built one in 1926 when it was on the campus plan but we didnt. I wish the city hadn't back doored a deal that got the OB demolished and put South Florida on the hook for a cool $Billion in bonds, but they did. The point is the stadium is awful for the university and the program. But, yeah, the 1987 Canes were special, so special if they played in a high school stadium, they still would have been the 1987 Canes.

This is the EXACT reason we lost that game. I remember screaming from the stands to put Portis in. First play in.....**** near houses a screen pass. Refs were HORRIBLE.

There is no other program as "big time" as Miami with an enrollment that small. You realize as far as students s and alumni go, our peers are Tulane, Northwestern, SMU and Vanderbilt? Why don't you compare is with them? You can't compare our fan support with Florida or Tennessee. It's apples to oranges. Florida's student section has 10,000 more seats than the emtire enrollment of our school

This isn't the nfl either, so you just say, we're winning, so we should have more support in South Florida. There are as many or more UF and FSU alum in south Florida as Miami alum

+1... Our fans don't go to games to support the team. Most feel their time is better served Monday Morning Quarterbacking as though they have the credentials to do so.

DMoney's post is on the money. This place is becoming worse than Grassy.

My favorite part is the same people who are "making a point" by not going to the game are the same ones who anointed golden the savior 6 weeks ago.
