The sad part is we're 7-1 and can have a rematch against FSU. If we fix some things on offense, marone'.
Miami gave up 413 yards to Florida.
Florida's offense was on the field for 38:20
Miami's offense was on the field for 21:40
Just like FSU, Miami's defense was on the field for 2/3 of the game while the offense was on the bench.
How did UM's offense do at converting 3rd downs against uf.ag and fsu?

Against FSU, Miami's offense was **** near 50% until the game was already over in the 4th.
They had a real good game converting.... the defense was the issue.
against Florida, Miami was terrible, but the game plan changed.
It's a scheme issue
I was a D'onofrio supporter but i see the big picture now....
you cant have a DC who strongly believes that "yards allowed" doesnt matter only scoring defense and expect to ever have an "elite" defense.
I wouldnt mind if D'onofrio left for a HC job after this season.
Exactly. This is what people keep missing. Going into the FSU game, most believed to win the game we needed to control the clock and run the ball. Why, because they have more talent than we do at the moment. To shorten the game and control the clock is universally recognized as the way to beat a superior team talent wise. Along with a few breaks and turnovers.
Well this same game plan is what less talented teams use against us. Some do it with the run, others with the short passing game. But both can be VERY effective against our style of bend don't break defense. We are doing EXACTLY what they want us to do. Were playing right into their hands.
That is the reason we play these close games until late in the 4th with NC, Wake, GT...etc. That and our own stupid turnovers. These teams are content to take 5 yards, 8 yards, 3 yards. Why, because it chews up clock and keeps OUR explosive offense on the sideline. We allow them to stay close, instead of attacking and pressing the issue. We should make their inferior athletes make plays against our superior ones.
But remember yards don't matter! lol Our offense is sitting on the sideline for 5 to 8 minutes at a time. No wonder they are cold as **** and go three and out. Or defensive philosophy never allows them to get in a rhythm and get a feel for what the opposing defense is trying to do.
And before I get the talent argument. Even with RS sleeping at the wheel in 2009, 2010 and 2011, we still have better players than every team on our schedule other that FSU. FL only has more talent than us on the defensive side of the ball.
And you really believe our d talent is better than VT, who I believe is in the top 5 defensively. 31>5?

Dumbest post of the year. We missed 6 tackles on 3rd down against Wake Forrest on the opening drive. All of which would have forced a punt.

okay not in the 4th but Miami did a very good job on 3rd downs overall.... they were just under 50% going to the 2nd half but 50% if you count the 4th down conversion after the 9 yard run on 3rd & 10. Count that and it's 50% which still makes my point that Offensively Miami did a good job converting it was the defense that killed any chance for Miami to stay in that game.
Potential recruits watch teams play. They watch, and they analyze. They try to figure if this program/scheme is one they want to play in.
Teddy Bridgewater recently gave some additional insight into why he decided NOT to come to Miami, and it was telling.
It's entirely possible that some of the more elite DT's don't like the scheme, and don't want to play for D'Onofrio. Time will tell, but one must ask why in **** some of the more elite DT's have no interest in coming to Miami. The NCAA BS is done. It's over. And so are the recruiting excuses.
I'm just curious that if you're a five-star DT prospect, and you want to excel at your position, but you don't want to fool around with this head-on, read and react BS, if you'll not want to play where you can make the most of your talents.

So why do we have Wyche Valentine and maybe Cory Johnson???? guess they like AG
It's part of the staff problem about the talent. They take to many of these project recruits. Skai & bain wanted to go to miami and instead of lockley and knighton those ships could have went to them. This year you can't tell me that wilson kid ain't better than mayes or turner.

No we didn't. Before the 4th quarter we were 3 for 9. That is not good, that is utter dog SHlT. If we completed 3 of 9 on 3rd down (34%) for the season we would be 104 in the country (see the chart below). http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/699/p3
You don't count completing on 4th down because the stat is 3rd down completion percentage. We did not do well even if you include this 4th down statistic. We played crappy on offense. Deal with it. It is not 50% either.
Here is adding on to your stats (remember we were 3 of 9 above)
Miami (FL) at 2:05 (2nd Quarter)
1 for 1 on 4th Down (4 of 10 Overall)
Miami (FL) at 3:41 (3rd Quarter)
0 for 1 on 4th Down (4 of 11 Overall) 36%
Zone no disrespect but your bias towards Morris and this offense is disgusting.
VT has a great D with a bunch of 3 star recruits so they are not "catalog shoppers". VT offense is awful yet somehow their Defense can gets 3 and outs. Yet our ****ty can't keep Wake, GT or UNC off the field. There is always an excuse the TE is a 1st rounder, Wakes WR is really good, GT offense is really confusing and stuff.
LoL at giving Coach Golden and D another 4 years to rebuild.
