The Truth about the Defense - For those who say it's talent

Will I ever be able to guess the correct coach?

I have faith in you, here is another clue:

Year 1: 4-8
Year 2: 5-7
Year 3: 5-3 (through 8 games and 8-5 on the season)
---------------
14-18 through 32 games, who am I?

I get what you're doing and I like it, I just don't think the comparison of the two programs is a valid one.

What am I doing?

you pointing out that if a good coach has a difficult rebuild (or just a build up it that case) it doesn't happen overnight, but it will get done so don't try and determine the final picture so soon. Pay attention to the process bec once it's done the right structure will be in place that it won't fall apart easily. At least that's what I thought you were doing. I just don't think the people in charge have the same in game (or atleast I hope not for Miami's sake)

After what we all saw last year, and considering the caliber of talent to go along with all of that 'experience', you may want to temper those expectations a bit...or a lot.

How did VT get all that talent? most of their talent are 2 and 3 star kids with a couple of 4 stars and 1 Five star.

I don't give a ***** about Vag Tech. The only thing I know is that we probably have only two guys who could play defense for them.

Yeah but why are they an elite defense? while we make every QB look good?

FWIW they have been recruiting for their system for 10+ years, every player there on D was recruited to fit their system. We have been recruiting to our system for 2, those kids are FR and SO. Pretty large difference.

That's only a half truth. Yes they recruit smaller faster athletes to better suit their scheme but many of them are raw. They do a **** of a job developing their athletes and coaching them up.

I am pointing out simply that sometimes it takes time to get everything in order. Thank god that coach who went 14-18 through his first 32 games at that program wasn't thrown out the door. The guy started with 2 losing seasons!

Our program hasn't had much success since 2003 (orange bowl), in fact we haven't won a bowl game since the MPC Bowl. Why did people think this would happen overnight?

As for the amount of games it will take, I don't know. It appears we're on pace but give it time and trust the process, I think people will be happy.

Al is building this the right way. And doing things the right way usually takes time.
He's not cutting corners.
This tells me he's committed for the long haul and not looking to bail out at least until he sees through the finished product.
