The Official ****y Flowers Junior Highlights!!

Hey, you know where I stand with Winky. I don't care what we do to bring him in. Tell he'll play QB. Tell him to compete. Whatever. I've been saying that's the proper approach since the days of Denard and even Anquan.

But, I'm giving you my personal take, for whatever that's worth, that I rather not roll with the high highs and the low lows of Denard Robinson.

Fair enough, we're pretty much on the same page.

Like you said in another thread, the group of Olsen/Eduoard/Flowers is complementary as ****. I hope it plays out that way.

It's not about old-school thinking at all. I'm ready for spread elements. I'm ready for the right kind of mix.

My 'old-school' comment was in general for everyone calling for a rifle-armed Cali kid that looks great in a combine-style setting as opposed to a monster competitor/producer like Flowers.

You asked a few days back who's the prospect that attracts others to commit, only one came to my mind. Flowers is a must, for one he wants to be here (according to reports) and secondly he's an incredible player that I have no qualms offering as a qb and embracing the upcoming competition as I'm sure he would as well. If it doesn't work at that spot than so be it and let the chips fall where they may. At the end how is that so different than many of the recruits anyways?

In my book I take all three, or not necessarily Mahalak but someone with that type of skill set, but I sure as heck am not passing on Flowers.

I may be naive but I wouldn't want to play that game of "offer him and then change his position".

Taking everything into consideration, including recent events that could be considered fair or not, I'm not messing with this kid's mind or future.

I think it's either got to be:

a) we want you to compete for the starting QB spot from day 1, here's your offer to become a Miami Hurricane.

or

b) we just don't think you're best interest, nor ours, is at the QB position. We see Ed Reed not Jim Kelly.

as a QB... no but **** as a Athlete this kid can flat out make plays and we need playmakers.

Shame on all of you for not discussing what is the biggest hurdle in this kids recruitment.

There is no way we're getting him if Uncle Luke's track is on his highlight tape.

I just have a weird feeling this guy is gonna get offered, commit, come to Greentree and then transfer after year 2 or 3. Where are we gonna put him WHEN qb doesnt work out? With the WR classes we have coming in (knock on wood) he won't get any run there..DEFINITELY not getting any run in the secondary. To the guy who said he is a slightly more athletic Jeffrey Godfrey I agree. And are we saying that its either Winky or Treon Harris becuz god forbid we bring BOTH these guys in who are deadset on getting a shot at QB and both of them fail..

I like the kid but like Al said in an interview with Joe Rose..You are doing a kid a disservice by letting him come if he doesnt have the ability to contribute. He isn't an off the charts athlete like Denard Robinson so to the guys who like him where do you see him contributing?

Winky single handedly beat Heritage two years in a row. Heritage has a MUCH better team than Jackson, and they are now in the same district so they will play again it should be intersting

A two season haul of Olson and Eduoard is **** solid. Bring Flowers in as the second guy in the class. Give him the chance to compete.

I don't even look at the completion percentage. You had too see Jackson play live this season to understand how horrendous their team was. He really isn't a freak athlete either actually, he's just a baller. Miami needs ballers.

Pete, you might be a little too close to this one.

how so? I love Edouard and love the pickup, but Miami should offer this kid and give him the chance to play quarterback. I will take this kid over Mahalak or White any day.

I wouldn't take him over the pocket passers--I'm assuming that's what White is, since I haven't seen him play. Apparently we need two QBs in this class, and I wouldn't take this guy as the second QB. He won't have an NFL future as a QB. If he wants to come to Miami, he should come as an ATH. He's a baller, though.

Of course, I only look at some videos, and I don't know this stuff as well as Pete, but that's my humble opinion.

I dont love his tape, if I was looking for a QB. That is what my hope would be, he is ok not playing QB, then ok play safety or receiver. But QB, unfortunately you sometimes look bad when your receivers cant get open or if you have a bad running game. He will go somewhere and shine though. Just not QB here. I can see Edouard playing QB, Flowers, no.

Most people here would not have recruited Denard Robinson either.

So, I don't act surprised.

as a QB i still wouldn't take Denard. My best friend is a michigan fan and i've seen a lot of Robinson, michigan became a lot better and more balanced when he got hurt. i'd take him as a ATH maybe WR or CB

Only losses were to Notre Dame and Bama...Michigan was down 7-6 to Nebraska when Denard went down...didn't score again in the game. Also lost to Ohio State and South Carolina. Went 12-2 in 2011...losses both on the road.

Denard ended his career as one of the most prolific quarterbacks in the history of college football.

You wouldn't take him as a QB? Silly.

I wouldn't take him as a QB either. Being one of the most "prolific" QBs in the history of college football can be cool. Lots of QBs under June Jones are "prolific."

I'm trying to win Championships. I don't think you can win a Championship with Denard Robinson at QB. It's the same reason Jim Harbaugh took a calculated risk by going from Smith to Kaepernick. One can keep you in battles, while the other one can win you the war. Denard's game has certain limitations that tend to be accentuated against the tougher teams with tough defenses.

Completely agree.

First off, what happened to "Winky"?

Second, as I've said before, I'd offer this kid right now. Only thing I'd tell him is be up front with him and say that if the coaches see that he's not cutting it at QB, they move him asap. That has to be the agreement b/c this kid is not a miami type QB. Period. JMO

As for Mahalak, obviously I've seen less film on him but as a QB, I'd take him over ****er any day of the week.

I bet some of the people here saying no are the same ones who didn't think Teddy Bridgewater was a QB either....that worked out.

big Bridgewater fan. To me Edouard has a similar skill set but is a better runner.

I'm right there with you. I see a lot of similarities but Edouard runs stronger for a young kid. Seems like he can chuck it further as well but we will see if he progresses the way Teddy did.

First thread I've read from start to finish in a while. Really good information here. I admit my south Florida bias so having read the different opinions if I had a vote it would go to offer Winky as a QB and let that sort itself out through competition.

If he does switch to safety, his ceiling is as high any safety we've brought in. He is that kind of football player.

The Jeff Godfrey comparison doesn't work for me because Godfrey was a shrimp. Flowers is only six-foot but thickly built and very physical. He'd be a 6'0, 215 pound-safety with top-notch football instincts and athleticism. This isn't an AJ Highsmith situation, Flowers has played there before and performed at a high level.

Lol Denard was not going to help us. He sucks.

You're right...one of the best CFB players in the country from his sophomore year to senior year would not have helped.[/QUOT
You and S.Florida kids.Denard was not a good QB at Michigan. LOl at him being one of the best in the country in any year. Didn't he end playing RB at the end?

Ill take any 5-year spread of kids in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach and give you any State in the nation in the same span...and Ill beat you.

Miami just offered national pro-style QB Drew Bark. With the OK kid getting an offer last week, its clear UM wants a Pro style kid in this class as well, and that makes me happy.
