Surtain sr

If he actually interviewed then how would it turn him off?

Because he didn't get the job.
The "not getting hired" smells so much like a Saban smokescreen. No way he wants the "quid pro quo" avalanche that would rain down on him if he was that obvious. But let's be clear, this is ALL about MONEY. Just a question of which road leads to the most, the fastest, with the least amount of risk; just like ANY other business transction. That is the reality of P5 football in the 21st century where kids leaving school after 3 years is the goal (not to mention after 1 in Bball). So PS1 is just trying to maximize the business opportunity for his family however he can and the Bama Boosters will be very happy to oblige in their most crafty manner. At the same time, PS2 goes to play for the top program of the last decade (tough reality to swallow 4 sure) where his probability of jumping into generational money in 3 is at least as good, if not better, than anywhere else. No doubt, staying home, going to a better academic U (Jobe's dad notwithstanding lol), playing with your friends etc all weigh into the equation BUT in most all cases pail in comparison to the $$$ when most of these kids choose their roads.

Have you seen the house PS1 lives in? Man didn’t take any money...he probably legitimately interviewed and was asked to “deliver” and he followed with can’t guarantee that. Just like Chise said.
Do you know the size of his mortgage? Bank account and future cash flows? Yes, understand your point, but by that logic, should you stop wanting more just because you already have some? You know the name of that governing system right?

So you think 300,000(like Cook got from Texas) would fix any of that? LOL dude stop. Guys worth 20.5 million dollars and would make 300k as a salary as a position coach if not more.

Yep! That’s his career earnings...he didn’t sign a 7 year/50.8 million dollar contract after the fins traded him to the chiefs or anything.

Wow. Saban power move to get the AH kids. It's safe to say he feels threatened by Miami. Surtain must've not guaranteed AH kids would come to Bama or Saban didn't believe he could get them there.

Sorry man. I hate it, but he isn't scared of Richt or Miami at all. This guy has a free pass from his partner Emmert to do whatever he wants.....he has already pillaged out backyard pretty well...just time for us to get ours.

UM

Prior years yes, this year no, he has not gotten crap.
Exactly!!!Not this year Jackie!!! Not this Year!!!!

The powers that be of the college football world are running scared that the U is rising to the top! They underrate/undervalue our recruits and they show so much love for Jobe after being destroyed in the Army All Americans game. He got scored on twice gottdammit and still climbed 8 spots on 247. Little ole Miami will slay the giant! Go Canes! F@ck that trickster Satan

Surtain's got money. Yes, having more money is great and all. But in this case, if Surtain Jr. gets caught taking money, there goes his collegiate career and potentially his NFL career as well.

I meant after taxes LOL. But I think he only played 4 of those years and not sure how much was back-loaded, not guaranteed a la NFL. In all cases, really coincidental that he "interviews" during PS2's OV. Does that mean he also did that with Coach O and we just haven't heard and is planning on doing it with CMR too? If not, then surely he was leveraging his son's Bama commit. Logic says it got to be one or the other.

Ok. It would not be PS1 getting caught per se and remember, Bama elite @ playing this shell game like we used to be in the old WWW days. Just think, if your honest logic prevailed then nobody would ever talk about Bags and Michel etc. Tis a Brave New World we living in, just check whats going on in DC.

It’s a rule that a coach can’t have their kid recruited 2 years before or after a hire, so this wouldn’t have been about PS2 this would have been for Campbell

Thanks! Great info, although I thought it does not apply to non-field personnel? Either way, if they do it "booster ball" nobody the wiser anyways is all I was trying to say.

The rule doesn't apply to an on the field coach only advisory/support staff...

It’s hard to pinpoint the time, but definitely around Clappy/Randy time.

I don’t remember the specifics, but there were some real beefs between Randy and some local coaches. Which is the last thing I would’ve expected, I was expecting loyalty.

OCC I had a former local player who was then playing college ball tell me that UM did not recruit in the inner city. To put our conversation in context, he was a student in my class who at the beginning of the semester revealed he was from Miami. After class I asked him about the Canes. He said what he did out of hand. He seemingly wasn't even mad about it, but I he believed it whether it was true or not. I wonder if during Shalala's tenure if there really was a disconnect between UM and the Black community in SF.

Bam it was Shalala and her trying to turn us into Duke bull**** that ****ed the black community off. No coach or parent wants to hear we're not recruiting your kid, because he's not smart enough. This is when the South Florida pillaging began in masses!!!

You're a ******* idiot if you're quoting celebrity net worth.

Actually, none of that is correct.

This is not s defense of Shslala. But Miami recruited the “inner city” schools during the Coker and Shannon years. Just look at our signees those years. Those statements aren’t borne out by the facts. The problem was apparently personal between Randy and some local HS coaches. UM not recruiting the inner city is just not true.

Had another extension before that worth 27 with the fins.

No, sir. Our team was 95% white kids from Pinecrest and Westminster during the Coker/Shannon years.
