Surtain sr

The powers that be of the college football world are running scared that the U is rising to the top! They underrate/undervalue our recruits and they show so much love for Jobe after being destroyed in the Army All Americans game. He got scored on twice gottdammit and still climbed 8 spots on 247. Little ole Miami will slay the giant! Go Canes! F@ck that trickster Satan

They don't have to run scared, only need to not call holding like this last year to tamper our ascendance. The only way to overcome that national bias (I was raised in 305 but have lived in all parts of country and THEY do like to HATE on our U) is to DOMINATE like we did with JJ & Butch. Take no freakin prisoners. And even with that, they still managed to take 2 titles away (PSU & OHS). But that us against the World IS what the SWAG was all about back in the day. "F@ck you all for trying to cheat us and keep us down we coming 4 you cause we are the meanest, fastest, hardest working MFs in the Game! We are the U! Sorry but just thinking about those two outright thefts always gets my ibis hard

posters went in on me for saying this a few weeks back.....bama interviews now it's ok....lol Miami needs to do this asap....winning battles like this (along with adding more trench monsters ) would definitely propel Miami to championship status on paper...seal the deal!

Yeah it F@cks with me also, and you are correct we just have to f@cking dominate and acknowledge that we won’t get the calls and not cry about it cause they will always try to f@ck is over. F@ckem we’re coming!!!

Supposedly interviewed for a on field position at bama.... richt come on hire him if he’s available. Move is there to be made

Would rather have rumph at cb and surtain coaching the safety position. Move Banda to linebacker and special teams coordinator giving him a raise

Why does Banda deserve a raise?

Some feel he is poor Xs and Os coach. Not sure what he brings to the table in the ST department either.

It's not "winning a battle" when you didn't want the guy. As far as I can tell Richt isn't interested in Surtain Sr. as a coach, so offering him a position just because saban interviewed him is silly. I get that saban is on top and we want to be there, but it doesn't follow that you make every move he does. Bama has unlimited money and a bunch of other sht we don't, so if they want to take a shot at a HS coach just to land his son, that's something they can do. Our coaching staff isn't as solid right now, so Richt better be making the decisions that work best on the field and in recruiting, not just for this year but for years to come.

We have had more production out of our safeties the past 2 years than we have had the last 10 plus years. Facts.

Bama just added a OC, WR , ST, and DB coach to staff, which fills all their current positions. Guess that makes discussing SR a moot point now.

it was a moot point the second the news came out because those that read that article read the second sentence which stated that they filled the position with another coach.

Honestly I feel as if Richt should have hired a 10th assistant by now, yet we don't even know about possible candidates. Weird.

It’s hard to pinpoint the time, but definitely around Clappy/Randy time.

I don’t remember the specifics, but there were some real beefs between Randy and some local coaches. Which is the last thing I would’ve expected, I was expecting loyalty.

OCC I had a former local player who was then playing college ball tell me that UM did not recruit in the inner city. To put our conversation in context, he was a student in my class who at the beginning of the semester revealed he was from Miami. After class I asked him about the Canes. He said what he did out of hand. He seemingly wasn't even mad about it, but I he believed it whether it was true or not. I wonder if during Shalala's tenure if there really was a disconnect between UM and the Black community in SF.

Bam it was Shalala and her trying to turn us into Duke bull**** that ****ed the black community off. No coach or parent wants to hear we're not recruiting your kid, because he's not smart enough. This is when the South Florida pillaging began in masses!!!

Actually, none of that is correct.

This is not s defense of Shslala. But Miami recruited the “inner city” schools during the Coker and Shannon years. Just look at our signees those years. Those statements aren’t borne out by the facts. The problem was apparently personal between Randy and some local HS coaches. UM not recruiting the inner city is just not true.

No, sir. Our team was 95% white kids from Pinecrest and Westminster during the Coker/Shannon years.

OCC it wasn't that it was true, it was that for some of those kids they had the impression that UM wasn't recruiting Black kids from the inner city. I'll add that that player played high school ball at Miami Central and was a year or two ahead of Joe Yearby. Shalala being concerned about the football team's impact on the institution's perception was discussed at length here with people coming down on both sides of the argument. It is possible that certain individuals, we used to talk a lot about "agents", or coaches in the SF community created a myth against UM to support their own agendas and perhaps benefit from our in-state rivals.

PHC I remember the discussions that were had on here though I didn't really join in being removed geographically from SF, but there certainly was a perception - right or wrong - that something was amiss. But was it really the case that it was Shalala or was it the case that certain individuals in the SF community - maybe a coach who was ****ed that we didn't recruit a particular kid - cultivated that belief in the SF community. Hey, maybe it was a bit of both.

Just noticing your avatar, whose coffin?

Read Tad Footeball and The Franchise comments regarding the treatment the University of Miami gets from some local high schools versus how they treat other universities if you want a dose of reality.

They’ll let Saban use their field to fly in like a pimp on a chopper, but make our people wait like Jehova’s witnessses at the front door, metaphorically speaking. These other schools can cuck, mistreat, and disrespect coaches and players down here and there are virtually no repercussions. If Miami isn’t constantly kissing *** or is perceived to have committed some minor slight, there is no slack at all. A lot of spoiled people with no appreciation.

Hopefully Rick is changing our hat-in-hand culture.

Ain’t this the truth, my question is when did it truly begin? Was it during Coker’s latter years or Randy? And if it was Randy, why the love when he went to UF?

that's a great question. It's an important subject. And it's the reason that I hope Mario cristobal is successful at Oregon. Because if Richt is unable to change this way of thinking. We'll need someone who refuses to let Miami high school coaches and handlers treat Miami to some unfair double standard.

But I'm hoping Richt has/is winning most over and they'll see he's a great coach, and a better human. The type of guy you'd want your kid to play for.

it is very easy to destroy just about anything (you can burn a house with one match) and very difficult and time consuming to create a culture and program. richt's thursday night outings/speeches at youth football games is laying the foundation for the future. those kids and their friends are the one that are going to say in 5-7 years "i grew up loving the U and only wanted to play for the U". by the time they are recruits, Richt would have known them for many years. this is the strategy IMO that will pay off down the road.

as to wanting your kid to play for a better human, this assumes that there is a culture where this is really the objective. unfortunately, i think the single criterion for many recruits and their families is which is the best avenue to get into the league.

Wow. Saban power move to get the AH kids. It's safe to say he feels threatened by Miami. Surtain must've not guaranteed AH kids would come to Bama or Saban didn't believe he could get them there.

Sorry man. I hate it, but he isn't scared of Richt or Miami at all. This guy has a free pass from his partner Emmert to do whatever he wants.....he has already pillaged out backyard pretty well...just time for us to get ours.

UM

what we need is someone like Mario to literally get in Saban's face and physically threaten him. He is a maricona that could defeat a gadfly.

If he actually interviewed then how would it turn him off?

Because he didn't get the job.
The "not getting hired" smells so much like a Saban smokescreen. No way he wants the "quid pro quo" avalanche that would rain down on him if he was that obvious. But let's be clear, this is ALL about MONEY. Just a question of which road leads to the most, the fastest, with the least amount of risk; just like ANY other business transction. That is the reality of P5 football in the 21st century where kids leaving school after 3 years is the goal (not to mention after 1 in Bball). So PS1 is just trying to maximize the business opportunity for his family however he can and the Bama Boosters will be very happy to oblige in their most crafty manner. At the same time, PS2 goes to play for the top program of the last decade (tough reality to swallow 4 sure) where his probability of jumping into generational money in 3 is at least as good, if not better, than anywhere else. No doubt, staying home, going to a better academic U (Jobe's dad notwithstanding lol), playing with your friends etc all weigh into the equation BUT in most all cases pail in comparison to the $$$ when most of these kids choose their roads.

Have you seen the house PS1 lives in? Man didn’t take any money...he probably legitimately interviewed and was asked to “deliver” and he followed with can’t guarantee that. Just like Chise said.
Do you know the size of his mortgage? Bank account and future cash flows? Yes, understand your point, but by that logic, should you stop wanting more just because you already have some? You know the name of that governing system right?

you can determine price, present value of the home and amount of debt on the house. this is easy to do.

LOL, y'all must be new. Stop trying to out devil the devil.

The way it works at UM is we hire Surtain, Sr and his son still goes elsewhere anyway. 100% serious.

Then, 50 other high school coaches get mad we hired another rich guy to a six figure job and destroy UM through all outlets possible.

Honestly I feel as if Richt should have hired a 10th assistant by now, yet we don't even know about possible candidates. Weird.

According to Pete, the 10th coach has been hired and will be announced on NSD unless they allow him to release the name earlier. My guess is it’s Patke when it’s all said and done.

Anyone with eyes and an IQ over 65 knew UM never stopped recruiting inner city kids or even kids with questionable character. Remember Finnie and Terry and all those guys? This was just another in the long line of tin foil hat theories adopted by UM’s dramatic fans.

We sucked because we hired a string of amateur HC.

Co-signed. Again, just look at our rosters from those years...there are your answers. Some local coaches were just finding any reasons and any excuses to **** on the local team, and the fact we sucked didn’t help.

Part of it was our fault, because I think we were so defensive we didn’t “stand up for ourselves”. Rick is changing that. Plus he reaches out to the community in a better way, in my opinion.

If Miami hired PS Sr and jr chose another school, fans would automatically want him fired. "How could he not even get his own son to go to the school he coaches at?"

I thought Pete said the position being filled was off the field, Cooney type hire. He wasn't sure of the 10th coach but had heard high praise for Patke.

Is your news from the podcast? Or was their another update I missed?
