Surtain sr

Honestly I feel as if Richt should have hired a 10th assistant by now, yet we don't even know about possible candidates. Weird.

According to Pete, the 10th coach has been hired and will be announced on NSD unless they allow him to release the name earlier. My guess is it’s Patke when it’s all said and done.

Serious question, what would not announcing the name of the 10th coach until NSD accomplish? Wouldn't it be better to announce it now? If he's a position coach wouldn't it be a selling point for the recruits?

Why are we so hush hush about every **** little thing at Miami... on NSD? why does that even matter it's not like it's a big name hire seriously question Richts's tactics sometimes

posters went in on me for saying this a few weeks back.....bama interviews now it's ok....lol Miami needs to do this asap....winning battles like this (along with adding more trench monsters ) would definitely propel Miami to championship status on paper...seal the deal!

It's not "winning a battle" when you didn't want the guy. As far as I can tell Richt isn't interested in Surtain Sr. as a coach, so offering him a position just because saban interviewed him is silly. I get that saban is on top and we want to be there, but it doesn't follow that you make every move he does. Bama has unlimited money and a bunch of other sht we don't, so if they want to take a shot at a HS coach just to land his son, that's something they can do. Our coaching staff isn't as solid right now, so Richt better be making the decisions that work best on the field and in recruiting, not just for this year but for years to come.

Landing Surtain jr. and Campbell would be "winning a battle." This is what I mean by sealing the deal with Sr...I mentioned this way before the bama interview...

It isn't Richt's tactics as you state, it's UM. This has been going on long before Richt stepped foot as HC..

Bam it was Shalala and her trying to turn us into Duke bull**** that ****ed the black community off. No coach or parent wants to hear we're not recruiting your kid, because he's not smart enough. This is when the South Florida pillaging began in masses!!!

Actually, none of that is correct.

This is not s defense of Shslala. But Miami recruited the “inner city” schools during the Coker and Shannon years. Just look at our signees those years. Those statements aren’t borne out by the facts. The problem was apparently personal between Randy and some local HS coaches. UM not recruiting the inner city is just not true.

No, sir. Our team was 95% white kids from Pinecrest and Westminster during the Coker/Shannon years.

OCC it wasn't that it was true, it was that for some of those kids they had the impression that UM wasn't recruiting Black kids from the inner city. I'll add that that player played high school ball at Miami Central and was a year or two ahead of Joe Yearby. Shalala being concerned about the football team's impact on the institution's perception was discussed at length here with people coming down on both sides of the argument. It is possible that certain individuals, we used to talk a lot about "agents", or coaches in the SF community created a myth against UM to support their own agendas and perhaps benefit from our in-state rivals.
Anyone with eyes and an IQ over 65 knew UM never stopped recruiting inner city kids or even kids with questionable character. Remember Finnie and Terry and all those guys? This was just another in the long line of tin foil hat theories adopted by UM’s dramatic fans.

We sucked because we hired a string of amateur HC.

Not a lot of folk with IQ over 65 apparently. In any case, it's clear that somewhere along the way kids and even adults in the community have felt the need and even been given the platform to disrespect the program. And maybe it was as simple as we sucked, but it's not a lot of programs that have their hometown radio stations regularly have rival coaches from other parts of the state or local kids who not only chose another program, but they also go out of their way **** on the hometown time.

Lol you guys don't think they're telling croots who the new hire will be?

Sometimes, man. I wonder about ya'll

Co-signed. Again, just look at our rosters from those years...there are your answers. Some local coaches were just finding any reasons and any excuses to **** on the local team, and the fact we sucked didn’t help.

Part of it was our fault, because I think we were so defensive we didn’t “stand up for ourselves”. Rick is changing that. Plus he reaches out to the community in a better way, in my opinion.

Absolutely agree that Richt is doing a much better job of being in the community. Someone, perhaps you, mentioned in a previous post that his visits with the local youth league teams is priceless. Couldn't agree more.

Just sick of SF traitors.

For those of you that don't know. Bama wanted to get a 5 star DB at any cost. They interviewed Surtain Sr. to get Surtain jr. But they realized that they actually have a good shot at Surtain jr. regardless because, as evidenced by his actions post visit, he is not in love with LSU.

So they decided to focus on getting another 5 star DB with their DB coach hire. They went out got the lead recruiter for Isaac Taylor-Stuart from Texas A&M. They were leading prior to the coaching change and now that he is at Bama they practically locked him up. Now they are going to try and get Surtain jr against us.

Saban still bought a recruit with this CB hire don't be fooled, if Taylor-Stuart were signed he would of hired Surtain Sr.

They hired a quality control. The 10th coach is Patke for right now.

wonder if the quality control guy is DVD.....or Ed Reed :)

I do think the QC position is DVD. Makes sense that we would be happy with it. Won’t be Surtain because we could t have PS2 on the roster. Waiting to signing day makes even more sense it’s DVD because he’s actively recruiting for ASA Miami.

My homeboy was killed in a car accident 6 years ago. He loved the Canes and as you can see his last ride is in a orange and green casket.
