Some Spring thoughts

I think you all are going to be surprised how high Morris ends up getting drafted. 6"2 QB's with above average speed and rocket launchers on their shoulders dont grow on trees.

The last qb that was 6'2" with above average speed and a rocket launcher on their shoulder that I remember in the draft was....,Aaron Rodgers.

*Poor awareness
*No touch
*No anticipation
*No quality attributes while rolling out
*Cant read a defense
*Doesnt have a signature win
*Sat behind Jacory Harris
*Below avg completion percentage
*Terrible on 3rd down passing situations
*Bad footwork
*Whats his record as a starter?

**** of a quarterback if he has 4 feet of open space to work with though...Neg away though, i know how much you all hate facts.

I agree with some points. Obviously he has a few things to work on, but who doesn't. Not everyone is RG3 or luck, but SM is very talented. I think if he has an outstanding season; sig win, better comp%, overall a nice improvement-- he'll go 2nd round. Coaches salivate over his arm. Can't teach that. His other hang ups can be fixed. Jacory was god awful and truly could never be a pro style QB. SM is light years ahead if J12

Man, the way you make it look Morris is the worst starting qb in college football, a poor man's Kenny Kelly.
I don't think he's the greatest qb who ever lived but right now I'd take him over 99% of the starting qb's in college football.

I'm not even going to go over your ridiculous list.
I'm just wondering what you are even doing on this site.

. He made some (dare I say) Aaron Rodgers-like throws in the red zone the past two scrimmages, particularly his back shoulder throws.

You shut your filthy mouth. Either you weren't watching the same game I was or you've never really seen a full Aaron Rodgers game. That dude is just unreal, he does things that Morris can't even accomplish in his dreams. Don't get the fans excited like that

Please read the post. Aaron Rodgers-type throws.

Watch the throw to Waters at 2:38, the two back-shoulder TDs, and the play where he read right to left, moved around in the pocket and found Scott for a TD. Those throws were as good as it gets.

morris was slinging it yesterday.. looked good on some of those touch throws too.

The whole post might have had some truths to it, but I threw it all out the window when you forget that he should have had 4 picks and threw none in the last 4 games of the year.

Our DT development, depth and recruiting is absolutely pathetic.

Its going to cost us games.

you can thank Uncle Jethro for that and this stand him up and think defense. Could you imagine if we had Bostwick and Clark bum rushing everydown? **** this scheme we run. We dont utilize our speed at all from what it seems

I'm all in on moving Bunche to Guard and leaving Flowers and Seantrel at Tackle. I get that Bunche might be a little too tall per se but I think we can get over that. Bunche is a strong ************ and we need him in there, I think guard is where he could maximize his play. Flowers is just too good to not be starting and playing, and the same goes with Seantrel when his wheels are all turning and there are no distractions.

I'm hoping Seantrel jumps up to a top 2 round OT draftee next year, and if that happens, it means we had a very solid year (which starts in the trenches). With these 4 OL verbals and Yearby and Alin, thats a very dynamic start to the class. This class is gonna be special, but more importantly this program is going to be special for a long long time since it all starts in the trenches. And our OL is stacked for the next 7+ years.

So lets get the thread back on track.

I wish Crow and Williams had some time with the 1st team ol to judge them better

Yeah, just based on what was displayed by the backup QBs yesterday. 2014 could be a year where we have everything we need except a competent QB

2014 is going to be a rough time QB wise. A shake out year for a group of hopefuls.

The catch @ 4:29 should tell you all you need to know about Sandland. THAT ability has been missing from the TE position for years.

Just looking around at some 2014 QB lists...Morris rates anywhere from 7th to 12th senior quarterback available. Obviously all this **** shakes out throughout a senior season...but if things hold form (and they won't), that would project him right now anywhere from a mid 3rd round pick to a 5th round pick and that depends on the number of underclassmen coming out and a ton of other factors, but in the spring, if you accept that he's somewhere from 7-12 QB available, that is where it'd place him.

All of this.

Tim Tebow went in the first round and he can't throw a football.

Where he sits, Morris is definitely not a first rounder but it only takes one team and he will likely have a strong senior season and should do well in the sit down interviews. Not sure how he will do as far as reading the defenses for the scouts though. Not saying he can't, just have no idea.

I think he ends up a late 2nd early 3rd though. Might be a bit higher than he should but there's just too much of a premium on the position and a lot of dogs hit NFL QB's.

Thoughts...

- Duke is the most talented running back in the history of UM. That's saying a lot, but, well there you have it.

- This year's spring game >>>> last year's spring game. Last year was full of mistakes, drops, penalties, and the team looked bad all around. This year, they looked crisp, just a really good all-around effort. You can't even compare this team to last year.

- That will translate to wins for us.

- Morris is a top 5 QB

- Williams and Crow didn't look nearly as bad as you guys are saying. However, the spring game is the spring game... so let's see them under pressure. Crow needs a QB coach.

- Would have liked to see Lassiter and Dewey get a couple.

- The Malcom Lewis thing was awesome

- Rashawn Scott = BEAST

- Jontavious Carter and Herb Waters impressed me at WR too

- Beau Sandland looked really good. You guys are blind if you don't think so. The guy can actually catch the ball, and doesn't go down on first contact. We haven't seen that at UM for a while.

- Raphael Kirby looked pretty good.

- Perryman is a future Pro Bowler.

- Our D Line looked pretty good, but we need the pass rushers like Bond and Kamalu and Al Qaeda to come in and help out there. Also, we need to send Perryman and even safeties on blitzes this year. This is college. Make the dumb college QB's make rush decisions.

- McCord did not look very good. He looked lost back there and plus, he didn't gain enough weight.

- Dallas Crawford is overrated as a RB. He's not the guy to spell Duke. He works better as a receiver.

- Mo Hagans is overrated as a RB as well. Leave him at FB. We better pray that Gus Edwards is everything we hope he will be, because those other two will not be that productive for us.

- Our D Line will improve.

- I predict a top 30 defense next year, and a top 15 offense.

- Kicking game scares me.

Good post.

I just don't see how you move Linder or Feliciano anywhere. Bunche will be a utility guy. He'll be used as a swing tackle and inside when necessary. I stand firmly where I was months ago when D$ and I discussed this. I don't care how much experience Bunche has or whether he'll play in the NFL. You don't sit a guy like Erek Flowers. He's a potential Top 8 pick and, while he has some work to do, he can do things our other tackles cannot. Point blank, the offense will depend on it.

As for Henderson, if he has the type of year I expect, I think he's a first rounder. Nevertheless, this is the guy I've consistently compared him to: Mike Adams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Adams_(offensive_tackle)). Adams was taken 56th overall in the 2012 draft. I think Henderson is more talented and can prove his stability/character this season.

It's potentially the best OL in the history of the school. They have a senior QB with a ton of starts under his belt behind them. They have a superstar RB with NFL versatility. They have reliable and complementary WRs who cut their teeth last season and remind me of those VTech WR corps of the 2000s. There are no excuses.

Coach Coley, it's your move.
