Sign of the times: No elite talent

The last time we were good the recruits were 7 years old, the community turned on us after we fired the black coach, the NCAA investigation took 3 years and Golden was an up and coming coach brought in from Temple not Bill Parcels or the legend of Gruden.

People on here act like it is Bill Walsh failing under optimal circumstances. Like we had everything going for us and then flopped it away last year.
I'm just so sick and tired of our fan base. If you are optimistic at all then you are making excuses for golden and you are cokerized.

But these same people HATED butch Davis and flew a banner to fire him now these same people want him back and say he's a coaching mastermind. I love butch but he took over a top 10 team in the country and had 6 years to recruit south Florida.

This is stupid. So then how did Clemson manage to be top 10 and win 12 games with only an Elite WR, OG and place kicker? They have less "ELITE" talent than UF and UNC AND Louisville...

Absolutely anything to absolve this staff of its failures. Are you guys Canes fans or Golden fans?

Think you're missing the other elite player they have at the most important position on the field

but I keep seeing that we're so much more talented than everyone on our schedule, wonder why reality doesn't show that to be true.

I didn't see a single Duke player on that list.

They pretty much have most of their starters and best players coming back this year. Only Ross ****rell and the DT Anuike were major contributors that are graduating. They definitely don't have boatloads of NFL players though. They are a very well coached team.

Here's an idea. How about Golden do more with less, like Petersen did at Boise St, or Gary Patterson at TCU, or Cutcliffe at Duke or the many other coaches who don't have access to elite talent yet get results on the field.

Tired of the excuses, just ******* win and if we do happen to lose some games at least look competent doing it.

I don't think people understand the importance of the QB position. Regardless of how many stars he was in High School, you need your QB to make the guys around him better. Peterson had it in Kellen Moore. Patterson had it in Dalton and Cutcliffe is just nice as **** at picking out and then grooming young QB's.

Our last 5 starting QB's are Kyle Wright, Kirby Freeman, Robert Marve, Jacory Harris, and Stephen Morris.

We've been somewhere between mediocre and downright awful at the QB position for a very long time and until that changes, we won't win 10 games. LSU can stomach a terrible QB and even win a championship with one because they've had the most dynamic defense in college football for the last 10 years, we don't have that luxury.

We need better QB play.

Still falls on the staff JC. They recruit, develop, and play these kids.

petersen took over a program that was already successful.. patterson took over a 10-1 team, both of those teams where in lesser conferences, btw... Cutcliffe has been at duke for 6 years.. and on and on and on.. if this were year 6 and we were 9-4, i'd understand all the *****ing, if Golden had taken over a 10+ win team.. i'd also understand all the *****ing.. he took over a middling ACC program, who had a terrible coach there for 4 years who ALSO wasn't recruiting well..

I have been trying to inform the folks at the West End Zone of this same thing, but facts make no difference

when you think about it, it was amazing that Golden got this team a few plays away from a 10 win season with the lack of talent to work with

I remember that recruiting class- Shannon had like ONE commitment when Al walked in with just a few weeks until recruiting day. after four years of Corch in south florida

then he had sanctions on our heads, no bowls, and mass chaos.

He's had three years...enough of this ****.

he's had 2 recruiting classes.. this is his third..

No he has 3.... You can't discount 2011 he isn't the only one to come on short notice...

I love how the "ACC was down this year" is claimed by all the morons on this site and the West End Zone

When the ACC WON THE FREAKING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and beat the SEC for the first time in 8 years,

had TWO teams finish in the top five, Duke came literally three plays from beating the Heisman Trophy winner (DUKE!) and even Syracuse won its bowl game against the Big Ten!

The ACC was not down this year, 10 teams were bowl eligible, most of ANY conference.

Everyone knows we don't have the talent to be elite.

Everyone should also know we have enough talent to beat VT at home and at Duke (who has 0 on the list). We were blown out in both games, we were embarrassed in the bowl game vs Louisville.

Exactly. How are people in this thread ignoring Duke's lack of talent yet winning the Coastal and being competitive in their post season games?? Oh, BTW, they beat us...

Agendas flying around on both sides. Not a thoughtful, balanced moderate in the bunch of you.

Anyone can play that stupid game. We were also just a few plays from being 6-7 this year...

Expecting Miami to win more then 9-10 games with 3 draftees in rounds 3-7 just doesnt know Miami football

He was out shoe shopping with his wife. He didn't actually watch the game.
