Sign of the times: No elite talent

Where are all the mighty DUKE players that pushed our shizz in???

please talent is one of the reasons we cant compete for the NC yearly but to not be able to outright win the **** coastal division since we joined the ACC speaks to coaching

It's both coaching and talent right now. Duke has plenty of talent. They are bringing almost everyone back which is why they have nobody on that list. I'd also take their coach over ours eight days a week.

even with the facts dead in our face we still want to pile on Golden.
- The 2011 class was a patch job you cant really count that class. the guy came on-board like 1 month before signing day. which included the dead period, in the middle of the fiasco. C'mon lets be real.
-for the past two seasons the most talented players on the team were freshmen and sophomores. Not best(developed, strength, experience), but most talented(god given talent, innate abilities)

Regardless of how good/bad of a coach he is, its obvious that we are just out manned on the field. Any coach can win with the right talent(Coker, Erickson). and we all know these guys inherited great teams, when they came here.

The guy guided us out of one of the darkest periods of Canes football history, but we turn our backs on him just as quick
Oh, like how he tried to turn his back on the program at the first sight of greener pastures?

As someone already stated, Duke has no one on that list, yet they still beat us. How is elite talent relevant in those games?

Yea because everyone wouldn't take more money and go to their dream job.

Butch turned his back on us for Cleveland. Jimmy went to the cowboys. Howard left for a bad football league. But yea golden Is the first to do it.
The differences being

1. Those coaches actually achieved things here and didn't bolt once they realized they had no idea what they were doing (Golden)
2. They weren't complete **** ups who got turned down for those jobs

Golden is a lame duck now. The only thing left to do is to ride out the cloud he brought.

Possibly true. I'm just saying we need to stop acting like golden is the first to try and leave

And butch didn't accomplish anything big before he left. As far as wins. Talent he recruited is a different story.

Yeah, except assembling the greatest team in college football history and beating the **** out of UF in the Sugar Bowl.

Thanks Al Golden for barely beating a 4-8 UF at home.

******* lol at CrossdressU at saying Butch didn't accomplish anything at Miami

Sugar bowl win
Built the team that won the 2001 national title and played in 2002.

Where was duke after.season.3 of cutcliffe...hmm.. in fact I'd say duke is the perfect example for why a coach needs time to get his players in there.

That was in his fifth year. Just sayin'.

Yes it's his 3rd year, you want to judge him on talent put in the league it should be on the guys draft eligible next year and beyond. This group of seniors and underclassmen were recruited primarily by the previous regime, Golden solidified the class late and reached on some guys to fill holes and needs.

We have some underclassmen on this team that are going to be highly rated pro prospects they just aren't being used effectively up to this point or may have been forced to play too early.

Did he do that by his third.season? (That's a rhetorical question)

Pathetic is comparing Diabeetus Gut Golden to Butch Davis and Jimmy Johnson.

He's had three years...enough of this ****.

We are the only school where our coaches get an automatic 4 years to produce. Until that 4th year, bury your head and write checks. Its the new U fan!!!

Deficiencies aside, do you think Golden is getting the most out of what he has? Simple yes or no?

Yeah lets fire coaches quickly so that future coaching candidates feel secure moving their families here.
Makes tons of sense.. You should throw your name in for the AD position whenever it becomes available.

i can't really blame this draft on him...next years draft should have kids from Duke's class and beyond...
All of that is on AL...

I have not heard a single word out of coral gables since the whole Penn State thing...I am guessing they are
just gonna hold on to the class we have and role on..

Next year will be DP Dorsett and Chicks class... Duke will be a Jr.

but I keep seeing that we're so much more talented than everyone on our schedule, wonder why reality doesn't show that to be true.

Putting on the uni doesn't make one talented. We simply have not been more talented than our opponents recently.
