Sign of the times: No elite talent

Some BS about "No Talent." Seantrel Henderson was the #1 recruit in the country.

And he 'played' like the #1 recruit in the country how many times??

Edit: very very very rarely. Like him and hope he has a long and prosperous nfl career...but he vastly underperformed while here.

I agree that we could use some more elite talent, but we had enough talent to beat Wake by more than a TD at home and to not lose to Duke by three TDs. To accept this argument is to accept that Va Tech and Duke have more talent than we have. Not true, and again, we returned the largest number of players with starting experience in the ACC this PAST season.

He's had three years...enough of this ****.

We are the only school where our coaches get an automatic 4 years to produce. Until that 4th year, bury your head and write checks. Its the new U fan!!!

Yeah lets fire coaches quickly so that future coaching candidates feel secure moving their families here.
Makes tons of sense.. You should throw your name in for the AD position whenever it becomes available.

LMAO This has to be the dumbest post of this year. Yeah, lets not fire an incompetent coach because other coaches might not want the 2mil gig with all the talent in the world in SFla. Good god our fan base has been castrated with the last 3 regimes.

Given how our last 3 coaching searches went, top coaches weren't necessarily speeding down 95 to Coral Gables to coach here genius.
But yeah, having a trigger happy Admin will make it all that more welcoming for top coaches.

Look Calamity Jane, if you don't get how stupid it is to hold onto an incompetent coach I can't help you.

Yea because everyone wouldn't take more money and go to their dream job.

Butch turned his back on us for Cleveland. Jimmy went to the cowboys. Howard left for a bad football league. But yea golden Is the first to do it.
The differences being

1. Those coaches actually achieved things here and didn't bolt once they realized they had no idea what they were doing (Golden)
2. They weren't complete **** ups who got turned down for those jobs

Golden is a lame duck now. The only thing left to do is to ride out the cloud he brought.

Possibly true. I'm just saying we need to stop acting like golden is the first to try and leave

And butch didn't accomplish anything big before he left. As far as wins. Talent he recruited is a different story.

You realize we only had 1 loss the year he left right?

You realize it took him 6 years Right? That unbelievable talent didn't start coming in until his 3rd year right?

You realize the sanctions laid on our program at that time are worse than the cloud and its following sanctions. Butch had to coach and recruit with the sanctions. Golden had the cloud, but no true sanctions other than our self imposed scholarships for one season.

Wow, will give Butch all his due before gracelessly bailing on the program, but it's totally disingenuous to even suggest Golden had just a mere cloud and no sanctions to deal with. ****, a large junk of the media portrayed the charges as SMU-like and went about for two years suggesting we might get something just shy of the death penalty if we were lucky. You see this negative **** that recruiters throw around this time of year. Petty stuff becomes juicy fuel - "Oh, fans hate the D coordinator. Golden is a short-timer. There's no on-campus stadium and a ****** fan base.
So, during all the NCAA and Nevin Shapiro stuff, do you have any idea the level of **** that was being thrown at Miami recruits by rival schools? End of conversation.

BTW, the "elite" talent still eludes us. The elite S FL talent bolted from the U like they had warrants.

3 years from now, the "Golden just lacks the elite talent neccessary to compete in the Coastal" excuse will be alive and well.

no matter the number - we were under ncaa investigation and some in the media thought we would get the death penalty - while there was no chance of that happening, tell that to an 18 year - if you dont understand that .........

LMFAO. No because only SRs can make plays. Only SRs can tackle and catch passes. GTFOH with that bull man. The SR class was void of talent, but it was also void of numbers. Golden purged alot of the players who were here. Alot of them transferred. He brought in over 50 players in 3 cycles. Stop this crap. Tracy Howard is a match for anyone of those CBs on that list even though he is rising JR, Stacy Coley is better than alot of those WR bar a few etc etc. IT doesnt matter if they are SO, FR or upperclassmen, they were at the staff disposal and they got blown out. Chickillo had a pretty good FR year, they bulked him up, he can barely move. None of our DL can get off blocks. Since 03, we have a few DL who are in the league balling and still our D was harrassing QBs. That is totally gone from our team now. Thats Golden's fault and No D. Big Question, who were the most talented players on our 08 squad on.....08 FR Sean Spence, SO Colin McCarthy, Fr Marcus Forston, FR Marcus Robinson, FR Brandon Harris, So Adewale Ojomo, FR Micanor Regis. Our D was miles better coached by a terd of a HC. Randy got them on the field under a new DC and they had some bad games, particularly against GT but at the end of the season they were miles better than we are now and they got better every year to number 1 in the ACC in '10. Shouldn't you guys be so confident its going to turn around the coming season. But you know u have no confidence or proof it will so keep on bringing up excuses months out in his 4th season. His *** is gone if they get mauled by FSU again.

...and the excuses continue.

There is no excusing the fact that Golden & D'Onofrio have absolutely destroyed defense at Miami. We are at the very bottom of the ACC in almost every statistical category worth mentioning. And talent becomes the excuse each year.

Is it up to Miami standards? Of course not.

Is it up to bottom feeder ACC schools standards? Fvck yes, it's better.

Clearly our talent has been lacking for several years. It is also clear coaching has been lacking. I think coaching has improve some under Al, but it is still miserable. The whole ncaa thing colors everything, but still, we are missing on to many of the top kids and the on the field product is at best disturbing. This year's class puts enough talent on the team to be make or break for this staff. Many of us have already decided, but the field we be the final arbitrator. Anything above a base fan turnout here has always been based on success. 500 yard losses and attendance are inversely related. More losses = less attendance.

Al's flirtation with PSU probalby lowered Donna's love level for him. "We don't know what is going on," is not exactly a comfortable feeling for a power freak like univeristy presidents. Mid-season last year, Al was untouchable, now he is surrounded by banana peels. He needs to win, win big and win something that matters.

******* lol at CrossdressU at saying Butch didn't accomplish anything at Miami

Sugar bowl win
Built the team that won the 2001 national title and played in 2002.

Did you even read my post? Wow

He built the team but didn't coach it....... got you.

The last time we were good the recruits were 7 years old, the community turned on us after we fired the black coach, the NCAA investigation took 3 years and Golden was an up and coming coach brought in from Temple not Bill Parcels or the legend of Gruden.

People on here act like it is Bill Walsh failing under optimal circumstances. Like we had everything going for us and then flopped it away last year.

Coley, Burns, Howard, Figs, Duke, Lewis, missing a few more. All pretty good right? When the majority of your best players were Freshmen and Sophomores, you have a bright future. In this game 2 things are important, talent and experience. When your talent has experience, its game time. With some help from some vets and some help from a few incoming freshmen, 2014 and beyond look very promising.

Come on AI, you're better than this. That's a BS comment and you know it. The ACC was down this year, we had 2 ops to win the coastal and **** the bed both times. No one is saying we should have been playing in the NC. Incremental improvement was the high bar for this year. Didn't happen. Everyone knows the issue and the lollipop gang pops in and starts laying down the excuses why it didn't happen. Now we are waiting to see how recruiting ends and we will go from there.

The ACC was not down this year, 10 teams were bowl eligible, most of ANY conference.

I'm on board with Golden needs to prove it on the field and close out this recruiting class strong.

There are those on here who are absolutely unwilling to acknowledge that Golden's tenure has not been the ideal circumstance for him and that his "plan" and "process" were completely interrupted in terms of time frame.

Unfortunately our team got killed in the RAB -- but Louisville only exposed what we already knew --- if our O can't score, we will eventually be in trouble in any game.

We do not have the ability to take the chance with a reset button for Golden (giving him the 3-4 years to put the plan in place on a level playing field). If there is no improvement this year (like ACC Coastal), we may need to look elsewhere. I only used may to be fair to unknown circumstances.
