Sign of the times: No elite talent

If OP wants to say the talent was bad then you might as well say the development is worse... He's been here 3 years... No excuses... Besides Duke who was committed since his junior year to the previous staff, is there anyone in our roster that would be ranked amongst the best in the draft next year? I think lack of development is showing its ugly head...

what does a **** into if you spend a week polishing it? exactly.. development is one thing, but you can't develop studs out of guys that just don't have that ceiling.. it's not a reasonable expectation.

Are you telling me that the talent here is less than what other teams in the god**** AAC have!?

The Senior Bowl and the draft (plus player performance) at the next level suggests that the kids that sign here are getting nothing in terms of coaching.

All I've seen is kids getting older and not appreciably better.

He has had 3 recruiting classes, 2 full recruiting cycles, and 1/4 recruiting cycle without investigation uncertainty.

He's had three years...enough of this ****.

he's had 2 recruiting classes.. this is his third..

No he has 3.... You can't discount 2011 he isn't the only one to come on short notice...

The 2011 class just finished their Junior year. You think some of the players from that class should have left school early and be top 10 players at their positions?
Dam these people are nut jobs.

That's the point.

In a state/region that is LOADED with elite talent, this team is completely devoid of it.

There is nobody on this team I can point to, outside of Coley and Duke Johnson, that is that level of talented.

Talent identification, development, and schemes are pure **** here.

That's the disgusting truth.

even with the facts dead in our face we still want to pile on Golden.
- The 2011 class was a patch job you cant really count that class. the guy came on-board like 1 month before signing day. which included the dead period, in the middle of the fiasco. C'mon lets be real.
-for the past two seasons the most talented players on the team were freshmen and sophomores. Not best(developed, strength, experience), but most talented(god given talent, innate abilities)

Regardless of how good/bad of a coach he is, its obvious that we are just out manned on the field. Any coach can win with the right talent(Coker, Erickson). and we all know these guys inherited great teams, when they came here.

The guy guided us out of one of the darkest periods of Canes football history, but we turn our backs on him just as quick
Oh, like how he tried to turn his back on the program at the first sight of greener pastures?

As someone already stated, Duke has no one on that list, yet they still beat us. How is elite talent relevant in those games?

Dont let CAPS4LIFE see this thread, he's going to go on for paragraphs about how Golden is a fantastic recruiter.

OP...please respond to this one sir.

Lol so now Golden is responsible for recruiting while still at Temple? Please "lauderdaleballer". Face the facts.

Some serious reading comprehension gaps on this board.

Some BS about "No Talent." Seantrel Henderson was the #1 recruit in the country. Bush, Perrimen, Howard, Chickillo all stud recruits on defense. (Lst in the ACC) Duke Johnson? Stacy Coley? No talent? WTF??

I'm not in Golden's corner, and I would have been fine with him leaving for PSU. That said, it is naive to think a coach coming in with just four weeks to recruit can put together a complete class. Coaches start recruiting players YEARS before they sign on the dotted line. Relationships have to be established with high schools and their coaches, and it takes a long time to identify and build relationships with players that fit what a coaching staff wants to do at any college program. It is foolish and not at all objective to consider Golden's first class as completely his responsibility. There is plenty to ***** about with him. That's not one he deserves hung on him. I'm more concerned with his intransigence regarding our defensive scheme, and the fact the even the following (2012) class has already had a high number of players leave the program already.

Then you recruit guys who do. The problem is Golden can't recruit.

You're missing the fact that of all those players only Henderson is in the draft. So check back in a year or two.

Just curious, how does the board explain or who does it blame for Henderson's lack of development . . . top HS recruit who is not ranked amongst Top 10 tackles in the draft? Bogus evaluations from recruiting sites, Golden, Kehoe, Donna, the NCAA . . .Seantrel?

Where are all the mighty DUKE players that pushed our shizz in???

please talent is one of the reasons we cant compete for the NC yearly but to not be able to outright win the **** coastal division since we joined the ACC speaks to coaching

Yea because everyone wouldn't take more money and go to their dream job.

Butch turned his back on us for Cleveland. Jimmy went to the cowboys. Howard left for a bad football league. But yea golden Is the first to do it.
