Gt dogged whoop us on the ground attack but we also blamed the secondary for that game. Guidry has to go but someone needs to get this fan base more knowledgeable with schemes and responsibilities
 
I know more about football than most on this board, Lancy Guidry and his defensive staff had a terrible year, and so did the players. Typically what that means is: the guy who coordinates the terrible defense is replaced, and the team finds new players.

I think it’s the latter. i think our talent on defense was worse than we all thought going into this year.

He is the DC, so he shares equal responsibility for acquiring defensive talent. He and Mario both failed miserably in this area and Mario isn't going to fire himself (one can hope though)

Yes, players were substandard. But Guidry did nothing to scheme and playcall in a way that reduced the deficiencies. He constantly had the line stunting inside, as teams kept attacking the undefended edges. He often made no adjustments until after halftime. He changed how Kiko was used compared to last year, often negating Kikos strengths and exposing his weaknesses . Against Syracuse for some odd reason he had DEs cover backs out on the flats at least 4 times that I saw, probably more than that...i just happened to notice the times we got burned on them.

When your entire unit looks bad against the run and pass; that's on the coaching... I keep reading about in-game adjustments; my question is why defense was never prepared going into a game. Even the games we won the 1st half was brutal on defense

The secondary's blame in that was the missed tackles and embarrassing angles. Yes, they weren't the first line of defense against the run, but when RBs got to the 2nd level the secondary was terrible at tacking them, allowing 7-8 yard runs to turn into 20 yd runs

I called The bullsh*t last year when people was scared he would leave. Saw right through, yes the players are making mistakes but we look unprepared in each acc game we have played other than fsu and wake forest which is unacceptable

Cristobal may deserve some of the blame. How much? Not sure. But he aint gonna fall on the sword. He's the HSIC. Guidry, on the other hand, probably will, and should. Truth is last year is the past. He was good then but not now. Why is of minimal concern as I pay to watch the product. They are paid handomsely, and deserve every ounce of scrutiny directed their way.
