Ray-Ray Armstrong to file injunction

He's still a better safety than Rodgers and Highsmith isn't he? Why wouldnt we want him back?
Maybe cause hes an idiot and could possibly hurt the team more with his stupid **** he pulls especially while were under the eye of the NCAA right now

Not to mention hes been given 3 or 4 times to get his **** right and keeps ******* up. Thats not good senior leadership

Its funny how the "fans" complain about not having enough players who give their all to be a part of the U but when a KID messes up, gets suspended, has his spot taken away, skips the draft and COMES BACK for his senior year, and gets kicked off the team for some bull****, those same "fans" want to bad mouth, criticize, and wish bad things on that same KID. I wish some of u so called fans werent fans and could get kicked off. RR wants to be a Miami Hurricane and I dont blame him for that. Let him come back, help the team out and let him earn some playing time. Simple as that. And yes, I know that first sentence was a run-on.

How many times should he be allowed to mess up?

Those are all negatives. We don't need a player like that on our team right now. Ray Ray has had a lot of chances, maybe if he wanted to play so bad he wouldn't have kept on ******** up. This is all on him, he needs to own up that he was an idiot and move on.

I hear ya Ray Ray

Some of you clowns are ok with Seantrel being a distraction missing summer workouts and the first four practices but Ray Ray takes some picture of a date with his girlfriend and posts them on facebook and you all crucify him? Nice to see just how dumb our fans are. Yes, you know who you are. Ray Ray sticks around for his Senior year and doesn't jump ship and this his is the thanks he gets from the fans when he needs their support? What a bunch of pooshawhs...

What am I missing?

Breaks rules gets suspended.
Breaks rules again gets suspended
Breaks rules again ... Then lies about it ... Gets kicked off team

Why should he get a fifth chance? Just say he broke team rules and be done with it. Move on!

I'd like to see these rules you guys claim Ray Ray broke. Posting pics on facebook of a date with his girlfriend is breaking rules? GTFOOH?

He's made multiple errors, not learned from them, and lied about them. I doubt the staff trusts him, and have dismissed him to prevent his next maybe bigger mistake. This is on the kid, and I see three strikes and a smart move by the staff here. Being a Hurricane is a privilege, and you owe it you your teammates, coaches, and classmates to act like one. He blew it, many times, and that's not the culture we need at Hecht. Best of luck, son. Hope you learn from this and prosper.

Continuing to do stuff and posting pictures of that stuff? Again, who Ray Ray dates and what they do on those dates is not a violation. Dating somebody has nothing to do with benefits from Miami to gain a competitive advantage. The NCAA isn't god. It isn't best for both parties to move on when you're talking about kid being disenfranchised of his education and his senior year of football when he didn't violate NCAA rules. That's exactly what isn't supposed with the NCAA but they can't get anything right.

I think you are missing the point. He didnt get kicked off the team because he violated NCAA rules, he was kicked off for violating team rules. Two completely different things.

You guys keep harping it was team rules but that's complete BS. Golden said it was administrative and it wasn't his decision. We all know why Ray Ray was kicked off the team. Because the NCAA has an ongoing investigation and anything that may be perceived as looking bad even though it may not be will be held against them by the draconian NCAA dictators. Wouldn't want the public which has become nothing more than mob rule crying afoul even though it isn't.

The father of former University of Miami safety Ray-Ray Armstrong said even though his son initially lied to UM administrators, the school’s decision to throw him off the team is “unfair to extreme measures.”

In a phone interview late Saturday night, Albert Armstrong revealed the incident that led to UM dismissing his son from the team on Wednesday.

He said that Ray-Ray’s girlfriend, whom he declined to identify by name, owns a public relations firm that reportedly works with professional athletes.

He said his son’s girlfriend was staying at the Loews Hotel on Miami Beach during Memorial Day weekend, and while visiting her there, Ray-Ray took pictures of the hotel room and disseminated them via Instagram.

UM became aware of it and confronted Armstrong, who initially told the school he wasn’t there with the woman, his father said.

He said his son initially lied because “he felt pressured to be untruthful” and did not want to be suspended again after being suspended twice last year — one a four-game suspension for accepting impermissible benefits from Nevin Shapiro, and the other a one-game suspension for dining at Prime 112 with that same girlfriend, and then tweeting about it.

“She owns a P.R. firm, which is not illegal,” Albert Armstrong said.

“There’s no proof that she is affiliated with any agent. She is not.”

Albert Armstrong said Ray-Ray “told them the truth eventually” about the Loews Hotel incident, “but it was a day late and a dollar short.”

Still, Albert Armstrong said it did not warrant a dismissal from the team.

He said the decision was UM’s, not the NCAA’s, and that his son was “shocked.”

Though the NCAA cleared him for the Prime 112 incident, Albert Armstrong said he did not know if the NCAA would suspend Armstrong for one or multiple games for the Loews incident.

“If it wasn’t for the NCAA being involved with UM [in] the past year, we wouldn’t be talking about Ray-Ray being dismissed,” he said.

“They need a sacrificial lamb to show, ‘We’re putting our foot down.’”

Asked why his son publicized the Loews pictures via Instagram, Armstrong said, “He’s involved with 2012 social media. That’s what kids do.”

Armstrong said that Ray-Ray has been approached by 20 schools and will definitely play college football this fall.

UM declined to comment.

"What is known: This was a University decision, likely in tandem with the NCAA, not a football team suspension for a violation of team rules. The University is not releasing any details, but CaneSport has been told that everything that has been speculated about reasons for him potentially getting in trouble over the past two weeks was inaccurate."- Rivals

"UM's only comment on the matter is a release that reads "The University of Miami has dismissed senior Ray-Ray Armstrong from the football team. Armstrong can continue to be enrolled as a scholarship student at UM to complete his degree or the University will grant him a full release should he elect to transfer to another institution.""- Rivals

"Although UM has yet to explain why Armstrong was dismissed, the school did say he can continue to be enrolled as a scholarship student to complete his degree. Should he elect to transfer to another institution, UM said it would grant him a full release."- Miami Herald

Why would they keep him around unless maybe they were going to wait and see if they couldn't pull some strings to keep without causing a rift with the NCAA? Put the ball in the NCAA's court and let them decide.

You got links I got links too...

Really, some opinionated article from CaneSport?

Let me ask you this, have you ever heard of a player being reinstated through the court system after being suspended from a team for violating team rules? Regardless if the motivation was because of an NCAA investigation, I am pretty sure Golden told all of the players to stay away from questionable behavior. Taking pictures in a hotel with some chick that got you suspended last year can easily be deemed questionable behavior. If Ray Ray doesnt like the rules, quit the team.

All this does is bring more negative press and internal strife to a team that is dealing with ongoing investigations and losing on Saturday's. I am not sure how you can be a fan of the TEAM and support what Ray Ray is trying to do.

Can't believe we're actually discussing the possibility of a guy coming back who hasn't done a **** thing in 3 seasons and clearly thinks about himself first and then the team second. Would Ray Ray really improve our team upon returning? He had his chances. Good bye

When I think about it. Ray Armstrong has never been in any trouble while at UM. Last year he was suspended for BS and was cleared of any wrong doing.

Yes he would help us when a few games. Trust me you are going to wish he was here

How can he **** about this at all? Whether it was for breaking NCAA rules, school rules, or team rules; he broke ****ing rules and punished for it. I don't think he has a leg to stand on here.

If he didn't violate school rules or team rules then it's a huge deal! Smearing a kid just because the NCAA is incompetent and power hungry isn't a good enough to derail anybody's life. Did he violate NCAA rules which is most certainly why he was shown the door? If the NCAA finds he didn't violate rules then it's up to Golden and the team to decide if he can come back since he is still on campus after all. Might as well put that scholie to use IMO.

Ray has never done anything wrong while at UM. Ray did not commit that recruiting violation. Coach Hurtt did. This is why I would welcome Ray back because he was never a problem athlete who had off the field problems. He stayed out of trouble and kept a 3.0 GPA. People are afraid of the NCAA and he is the one being punished

Judge orders Tech to reinstate player

By Associated Press

ATLANTA - A Fulton County judge ordered Georgia Tech to reinstate defensive back Reuben Houston to the team Tuesday even though Houston is facing felony drug charges and has been suspended from the team all season.

The ruling from Superior Court Judge M. Gino Brogdon shocked Georgia Tech athletic director Dave Braine, who nonetheless pledged to abide by the decision.
Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey said Houston might play as early as Saturday, when the Yellow Jackets visit No. 3 Miami.

The 22-year-old Houston, a two-year starting cornerback with seven career interceptions, was arrested June 21 in Atlanta in connection with a marijuana distribution operation based in California. According to a criminal complaint filed in Fresno, Calif., Houston conspired to possess and distribute about 100 pounds of marijuana, which has a street value of about $60,000.

At the time, Houston was suspended from the team and from the school, but while appealing those suspensions he was allowed back into school and granted the room and board privileges given other scholarship athletes.

"My decision, upheld by the athletic board, is Reuben had violated a student-athlete code of conduct by being charged with the felony and in so doing he should not be able to play," Braine said Tuesday.

According to Braine, Houston's appeal of the suspension was denied by Georgia Tech's student affairs office less than a month ago, and Houston had to leave school.

However, Houston continued to seek legal relief and he was readmitted to school on Thursday, according to Braine. Brogdon's court order means Houston also must be reinstated to the team.

"I feel compelled to say that this decision will send shock waves through college athletics programs around the country," Braine said. "Playing college football, especially at a school like Georgia Tech, is a privilege, not a right. We must be able to set standards of conduct for our student-athletes, and we must be able to enforce and maintain discipline."

In the order, Brogdon wrote his ruling came despite having "wariness and trepidation regarding inappropriate judicial scrutiny and interference with the operation, management and administration of an educational institution."

Brogdon said Georgia Tech's decision to expel Houston, then readmit him but exclude him from football "was arbitrary and strikingly dissimilar to the school's treatment of other similarly situated athletes who have been accused of breaking the law."

An openly incredulous Braine questioned the basis for the judge ruling
that Tech had used uneven standards with Houston.

"I don't know how you can read into that because we've never had a felony charge before," Braine said. "How it could be uneven, I don't know."

Houston was with the team, but not in uniform, during Tuesday's practice. "He ran a little bit today," Gailey said.

Houston is expected to join practice Wednesday.

Gailey said he discussed the court order with the team and cautioned against it becoming a distraction. Gailey said Houston may be able to make an immediate, but limited, contribution on special teams and even on defense.

"I think first there will be an evaluation process of where he is physically and mentally," Gailey said. "If he is capable, we might spot play him on defense and on special teams.... I'm worried about his conditioning more than anything else."

Added Gailey: "My responsibility in this whole thing is to treat him just like I would any other player."

Yes he would help us when a few games. Trust me you are going to wish he was here

He would probably loose a few too .. So it's a wash, not to mention the fact you are cleaning out the crap from the last administration. Kid obviously doesn't get it, doesn't care about the team or team concept. Move on with those who care.
