is it really gonna matter what he did anyway when he is in the league ballin out makin millions. no not at all stupid nc2a

Repeated dumbassery is missing summer workouts and the first 4 practices of fall. Who Ray Ray shacks up with and goes to dinner with one night is not the NCAA's business. What he did on the internet may have been stupid at the wrong time but he doesn't deserve to be kicked off the team for it Senior Season after he stuck with the team and didn't try to go pro like the other juniors who declared.

Continuing to do stuff and post pictures of him doing that stuff on social media when the coaches told him to stop is dumbassery. Best for both parties to move on.

Continuing to do stuff and posting pictures of that stuff? Again, who Ray Ray dates and what they do on those dates is not a violation. Dating somebody has nothing to do with benefits from Miami to gain a competitive advantage. The NCAA isn't god. It isn't best for both parties to move on when you're talking about kid being disenfranchised of his education and his senior year of football when he didn't violate NCAA rules. That's exactly what isn't supposed with the NCAA but they can't get anything right.

I think you are missing the point. He didnt get kicked off the team because he violated NCAA rules, he was kicked off for violating team rules. Two completely different things.

You guys keep harping it was team rules but that's complete BS. Golden said it was administrative and it wasn't his decision. We all know why Ray Ray was kicked off the team. Because the NCAA has an ongoing investigation and anything that may be perceived as looking bad even though it may not be will be held against them by the draconian NCAA dictators. Wouldn't want the public which has become nothing more than mob rule crying afoul even though it isn't.

The father of former University of Miami safety Ray-Ray Armstrong said even though his son initially lied to UM administrators, the school’s decision to throw him off the team is “unfair to extreme measures.”

In a phone interview late Saturday night, Albert Armstrong revealed the incident that led to UM dismissing his son from the team on Wednesday.

He said that Ray-Ray’s girlfriend, whom he declined to identify by name, owns a public relations firm that reportedly works with professional athletes.

He said his son’s girlfriend was staying at the Loews Hotel on Miami Beach during Memorial Day weekend, and while visiting her there, Ray-Ray took pictures of the hotel room and disseminated them via Instagram.

UM became aware of it and confronted Armstrong, who initially told the school he wasn’t there with the woman, his father said.

He said his son initially lied because “he felt pressured to be untruthful” and did not want to be suspended again after being suspended twice last year — one a four-game suspension for accepting impermissible benefits from Nevin Shapiro, and the other a one-game suspension for dining at Prime 112 with that same girlfriend, and then tweeting about it.

“She owns a P.R. firm, which is not illegal,” Albert Armstrong said.

“There’s no proof that she is affiliated with any agent. She is not.”

Albert Armstrong said Ray-Ray “told them the truth eventually” about the Loews Hotel incident, “but it was a day late and a dollar short.”

Still, Albert Armstrong said it did not warrant a dismissal from the team.

He said the decision was UM’s, not the NCAA’s, and that his son was “shocked.”

Though the NCAA cleared him for the Prime 112 incident, Albert Armstrong said he did not know if the NCAA would suspend Armstrong for one or multiple games for the Loews incident.

“If it wasn’t for the NCAA being involved with UM [in] the past year, we wouldn’t be talking about Ray-Ray being dismissed,” he said.

“They need a sacrificial lamb to show, ‘We’re putting our foot down.’”

Asked why his son publicized the Loews pictures via Instagram, Armstrong said, “He’s involved with 2012 social media. That’s what kids do.”

Armstrong said that Ray-Ray has been approached by 20 schools and will definitely play college football this fall.

UM declined to comment.

I think the quicker he moves on the better. His stock won't be hurt if he goes to the combine and runs 4.5 - no matter where he plays. His stock is going to fall if he runs 4.7 though.

"What is known: This was a University decision, likely in tandem with the NCAA, not a football team suspension for a violation of team rules. The University is not releasing any details, but CaneSport has been told that everything that has been speculated about reasons for him potentially getting in trouble over the past two weeks was inaccurate."- Rivals

"UM's only comment on the matter is a release that reads "The University of Miami has dismissed senior Ray-Ray Armstrong from the football team. Armstrong can continue to be enrolled as a scholarship student at UM to complete his degree or the University will grant him a full release should he elect to transfer to another institution.""- Rivals

"Although UM has yet to explain why Armstrong was dismissed, the school did say he can continue to be enrolled as a scholarship student to complete his degree. Should he elect to transfer to another institution, UM said it would grant him a full release."- Miami Herald

Why would they keep him around unless maybe they were going to wait and see if they couldn't pull some strings to keep without causing a rift with the NCAA? Put the ball in the NCAA's court and let them decide.

You got links I got links too...

How can he ***** about this at all? Whether it was for breaking NCAA rules, school rules, or team rules; he broke ******* rules and was punished for it. I don't think he has a leg to stand on here.

If he didn't violate school rules or team rules then it's a huge deal! Smearing a kid just because the NCAA is incompetent and power hungry isn't a good enough to derail anybody's life. Did he violate NCAA rules which is most certainly why he was shown the door? If the NCAA finds he didn't violate rules then it's up to Golden and the team to decide if he can come back since he is still on campus after all. Might as well put that scholie to use IMO.

I'm pretty sure associating with an agency that represents athletes is against NCAA and team rules. Ray Ray new this and continued the behavior. Thus, he was shown the door.

Says who? I haven't seen much hostility with the Ray Ray situation at all. I'm sure Golden would have a team meeting "if the NCAA was ok with it of course, wink, wink" and put him right back and make him play with the 3rd stringers for a bit. Maybe they knew this would be the procedure to take to cover their *** with the NCAA.

Ray Ray was about to breakout IMO. It would be nice to ease the other safeties in slowly with Ray Ray and VT as 1st stringers.

How is this not a bad situation? Ray Ray was kicked off the team by Golden for repeated dumbassery. Ray Ray had multiple opportunities to get his **** together and he didn't. Golden was fed up and gave him the boot. You think Ray Ray filing a lawsuit is gonna make Golden forget why he was given the boot? I don't.

Also, Ray Ray ready to break out? If I recall from the spring game he was still looking bad out there. What makes you think he was ready to break out?

He was suspended last year mid-season for breaking team rules. He again broke those rules this year. I don't see why this is tough to understand. Coaches told him to stop, he didn't, he broke team rules and is now off the team. Not sure why you keep bringing up the NCAA. Posting Rivals quotes isn't fact, read between the lines, it's not hard to see what happened

I wish him the best but he screwed up.

This is what I'm talking about! It's not any of the NCAA's business who Ray Ray is dating or what she's paying for. They have once again overstepped their bounds and forced Miami's hand at dismissing Armstrong.

Armstrong was expected to start this year opposite Vaughn Telemaque before UM dismissed him in mid-July after several incidents, with the final straw reportedly lying about going to a South Beach hotel with his girlfriend who works for a sports PR firm.

"We would understand if he did something wrong," Morgaan said. "But we have no violation whatsoever of the NCAA rules.

"We have him at a hotel with his girlfriend and his girlfriend paid for the entire bill on a personal credit card and they want to ask him a thousand questions about his stay at a hotel. It seems invasive considering that this is his girlfriend and they are prying into his personal life. He has been going out with this girl for a long time."- Albert Armstrong

Ray Ray may not have been smart on the interwebs but he did NOTHING wrong! Want to talk justice? Let the kid play his senior year and make his millions in the draft next year. I'm sick the NCAA playing god with peoples lives and our fans should be too.

OH NOES!!!! He took pictures while on a date with his girlfriend and posted them on the interwebs!!!!

Cam Newtons father was given $200,000 cash and the NCAA said that was just fine. Makes total sense IMO. GTFOOH!

I give it ~3 months until this becomes exactly like the Grassy football board. We're well on our way.

This ridiculous. Does this crap happen at other schools? Kids get dismissed all the time for much less than what RR did. Dude is looking so pathetic. I was actually going to root for him to somehow make it in the league still, but probably not now.

I don't even think they would have any legal recourse even if Miami was a public institution. It's not though. Miami is a private school. They can probably dismiss you for giving Donna a nasty look if they feel like it.
