Questions For Chip

Thanks for the answer Chip. Fundraising for a stadium wouldn't be too difficult. The alumni who come back for games want to stay close to campus and show their family where they hung out, not drive 45 min away. The fan base would still be fickle, but it would be an incredible feat for somebody to accomplish. Hopefully in our lifetime

Chip, before the wake game, there was a banner which flew above the stadium thanking Al, Donna, and Team. Do you know if Al or any of the players saw it and if he/they did, what his/their reaction were?

They didn't say they saw it, but they heard about it. They were very very thankful. Golden publicly thanked the fans after the game in press conference.

Excuse me for my ignorance, but Chip what is your role with the team? Are you a reporter or something? Sorry if your credentials have been discussed before.....

Chip were you a Canes fan before college?

Oh **** yes. I didn't come into the world a Cane, but after I moved in with my aunt and uncle when I was nine years old my uncle, Jeff, was an big alumni and huge fan of the Canes as he was there during the 80s and was close with Paul Dee. I remember my first game as a Canes fan was in 2000 when he took me and his daughters to the West Virginia game in Morgantown. I was such a shy kid back then, you could imagine how terrified I was going into that place. After the Canes won and we were riding on the booster buses, I'll never forget sitting next to the window, seeing a WVU fan, and then him pegging a FULL beer at my window. It spewed all over the window and I was scared S***less! Went to a ton of Canes games after that, and it led to the 2001 Rose Bowl in Pasadena where my whole family went and watched the best college football team ever beat down Eric (Nobody will ever remember me) Crouch and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It was when the confetti was falling and I saw Andre Johnson and Ken Dorsey lift up that crystal ball that I knew, I was forever going to be a Miami Hurricane. Have never waivered since.

Quite all right. When I came to the U as a freshman I had already been talking with Stewart Cramer the video coordinator for the football team. He hired me as a runner in the first year and that's how I got so close to the team. So all the seniors that are on the team now I came in when they did and I tried to make friends with em since I had nobody to hang with during fall camp that year. It was rough let me tell you. As the years went on, and I started to be more and more involved with media, UMTV and WVUM I started to shoot practices, cover press conferences, go on road games to shoot sideline highlights and edit. All the while integrating myself more and more with the team. After Stewart Cramer left to go work for the Philadelphia Eagles, Coach Golden came to me with the idea of Canes Camp Report. That's right it was HIS idea to show the fans what's going on during spring and fall camp. He knew I was a media guy and that I had the team's back, so he gave me the opportunity and there you have the Canes Camp Reports you guys loved. After that, I left my job as videographer for the football team to focus on my endeavors in media. It was a mutual decision. I still am friends with and stay in touch with coaches and players on the team. But I do want to make something clear, I am a media person and it's my job to report on breaking news and developing stories, but unless there is a mountain of evidence I won't reveal anything inside the organization and team. It's just how I operate since they were great to me and taught me great life lessons as well as letting me live my dream of being "a part" of the team.

I'm a lover not a fighter, but if Pete did something DRASTIC to make me change that philosophy, I think it'd be a pretty even fight. I've got height and reach on my side, but he's got that Miami spunk that I'll never have being from Richmond, VA

Chip you didn't answer the second part of his question, lol.

Whoops missed that one! I've only seen Pete out on the town I think two, three times. And we were both pretty sauced. But no I haven't. Besides I'm pretty sure Pete pulls his fair share of dames
