For the record this is the real Chip. I verified this by checking his email address that he verified when he created an account.

How do you think the teams moral be after a tough loss to FSU and a huge game for the division this sat against VT

First off, it's morale. Secondly, I was in the postgame press conference at FSU and I won't say the team looked infuriated or out for blood, but they did show signs of defeat and frustration more or less at themselves. They kept saying they didn't execute to the level they're capable of which I believe to some degree, but FSU was clearly the better team last night. I honestly believe that these players believe in Al Golden and his process so much that they will be ready for VA Tech. People tend to forget, Al Golden's goal for the team this season as well as last season is to win the Coastal Division. and his goals are the teams' goals. Yes they hated getting pounded by the Noles on national television and to have all the critics have their doubts validated, but they also understand that in the grand scheme of things, the loss is just a loss. And i think that is a sign of the maturity this team has taken on. We didn't see Miami commit 7 penalties or initiate in foolish unsportsmanlike conduct (yea FSU was really laying it on thick). So I am not worried about their mental stability moving forward. Besides if Miami can win the Coastal they'll most likely get another shot at FSU for the ACC title on a neutral field

What is the main difference that you see in the team from this year to last? Not only from a physical standpoint, but also from a mental standpoint? (Thanks for your answers)

The biggest point you look at is not getting too high or too low, and understanding what the ultimate goal is within the team. As I said, winning the Coastal is the only thing that matters this season. That's a step forward in Al Golden's master plan for resurrecting the U. Looking at last year, Miami had a lot of tough and marquee opponent on the schedule. We all saw how K-State went, but Notre Dame I think is the game that is the best comparison between this year and last. The players overhyped themselves and ended up losing due to nerves of potentially upsetting the Fighting Irish. Then you look at the Florida game (even though they have fallen off the grid) and the players came ready to execute and fight for every yard. They did that last night as well, but couldn't do it for 4 quarters since FSU is so good offensively and got out in front at the start. So mentally, not overhyping games and just trusting the process. Physically, the off-season conditioning programs Golden has brought in have a made a world of difference. They're more conditioned, they're stronger and bigger. And it's not just the coaches making them do it, it's the players taking control of the program and operating and motivating themselves to be better. That's how the U was great during the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It's all about commitment to the cause and for both parts of the question, Miami continues to improve in both. They'll grow even more by the time next season rolls around

Moving past the message board grammar/spelling ****... I couldn't agree more as before the season started I was hoping we would be in this spot with a clear shot at the costal division and going to Charlotte. But to avoid the obvious question of how will the loss of duke will effect the team as you've seen the team practice more live than any of us on the board. What's your impression on Gus? We have seen him play next to zero snaps the past couple weeks which has surprised me. Is it poor performance on the practice field or just the guys in front if him are that much better?

Had you asked me this during Canes Camp I would have picked Kevin Olsen hands down. But my updated version, with new recruits for 14 class:

1) Ryan Williams
2) Kevin Olsen
3) Brad Kaaya
4) Malik Rosier
5) Garrison Lassiter

As for who will win the job next year: I think Ryan Williams believe it or not. Golden likes to go with experience, and even though Olsen is impressive, Williams has looked good in spurts as well. Coming in for Morris against USF may not have been too telling, but he was efficient in distributing the football and he didn't ever seem to force the issue. Plus he does something more than Morris does, THROWS THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS AWAY FROM DEFENDERS. Olsen will have his time, and when he does I truly believe he will be great. The more time he has to prepare the better off he will be. By that timeframe, Olsen will be a RS Sophomore with three good years in him, pending NFL draft. And when he gets the start, he's going to be really good. Remember, Canes are still building. And Olsen is a part of that process. No need to rush him into action and risk him either getting hurt or degrading with a team that isn't as talented as it might be two years down the road.

I'm not around the team as much as I was during camp due to classes, TV and radio and my internship with WPLG Local 10 sports, but I'm with you in my surprise of Gus's disappearance. He's a big body that can move well and has a knack for finding the hole and going north/south. I'd say you're right in assuming that Dallas and Eduardo are more trustworthy as they've been in games that matter. Yes games that matter; SSU and USF aren't that great, and Gus is a freshman. Want to make sure kids are ready mentally when they take the field, or risk them making a crucial error and then doubting themselves. That's what happened last year with a young team. Stacy Coley doesn't suffer from this because he is incredibly talented and will be a UM great at receiver when he leaves. Write that one down

What's your thoughts on jamal carter

As I said, not around the team as much as I used to be, but from what I did see he's been solid on special teams. needs to get bigger and make quicker/smarter decisions to compete at LB. his speed is already there.

Carter is a safety, Chip.

Case in point don't see him enough to have a very accurate response. explains why I always thought he was a bit small to be an LB

Thoughts on the improvements Tracy Howard has made from last year to now? Real bright future here at UM, and in the pros, in my opinion.

Lol, it's all good.

Is your name really Chip or is that a nickname?

Excellent Question! My real name is.... get ready for it......
