Proof of Randomness in College Baseball

This guy sounds wonderful.

Kingston is the nadir of all of your asinine postings. Why not hire Mike Martin instead..... This Kingston would be a TERRIBLE hire. He had a losing record last year. Heck, in our worst year, we were 31-27.

How can you argue that 24 wins is leagues better than 31. We play in the ACC.....

Thank you for proving that you know absolutely nothing about college baseball.

Tell me how many games Kevin O'Sullivan won before he started raping and pillaging our program. Or Dan McDonnell. Or Pat Casey. Tell me about Paul Mainieri's success at Air Force.

Kingston is going to be a star. Remember where you heard it.

In 1993 we hired a coach who had advanced out of exactly zero Regionals, and that turned out pretty well.

In a completely different format as the one we're currently in.

And I bet nobody at the time claimed that this new guy would soon eclipse Ron Fraser.

Somebody just did that with Lovelady.

Well lets see, he finished 1st in his conference 3 out of those 4 years, and 2nd the other. He has also made 3 regional appearances, only missing in his first year at Wright State (hardly UM with the tradition of the Wizard).

He coached in the Horizon League which is in the bottom half of Division 1 conferences. Wright State was routinely the only team that wasn't 200+ in the RPI.

This is the thing. Now you're making me say bad things about Lovelady and I don't want to do that.

But this obsession with Morris hate is borderline mental.

No one did that with Lovelady. The context was a ranking of coaches in Florida, not career win totals. And there's nothing wrong with that statement. Lovelady isn't going anywhere, so it's entirely plausible that if Jim stayed three more years that Lovelady would have a better program.

As for Morris at GT.....yeah, blame it on the format......

I think it's possible to predict that Lovelady is going to do great things no matter what one's opinion on Morris is. Like I told Dartmouth, Lovelady should be compared to Gino, not Jim. That's who Greg would replace.

nep·o·tism
ˈnepəˌtizəm

noun

the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

I underlined the part that you seem to have neglected.

What relative did Jim Morris hire? What relative did Blake James hire?

You're deluded.

That's disingenuous. Blake is under extreme pressure when it comes to DiMare. Everyone knows that. Again, you can love Jim Morris AND understand that Paul DiMare is a major factor in this coach-in-waiting thing.

Power 5 programs that sleep on Mark Kingston and Greg Lovelady do so at their own peril.

It's funny how you couldn't run away from Kingston fast enough last year when he went 24-33.

Now P5 programs shouldn't sleep on him because he went to a Regional where his team was eliminated by Bethune-Cookman.

Any updates on your other man-crush, Rob Cooper?

South Florida was 42-19. It's difficult to find things like that, I know.

You entered witness protection last year when he went 24-33. You wouldn't even utter a syllable of his name.

But now he's back in your good graces after being eliminated by Bethune-Cookman in a Regional.

Whoa, I never ran away from Kingston. Don't make stuff up.

You know better than this. I know you do. The list of coaches that come up for ACC and SEC openings doesn't include a bunch of guys who went to Super Regionals. He's a big name and you know it. That's arguing just for the sake of arguing.

I think Coop screwed up by taking the wrong job.

Or now that he's on South Carolina's short list.

Who did Sully beat in a regional to get Florida's attention? You're failing on this one.

Ha!

You fled in disguise last year when he went 24-33 in his second year at USF. You disowned him and disavowed any knowledge of his existence.

But now he'll be a star because he under-performed his seed and was eliminated by Bethune-Cookman.

It's too much.

2017 - Mark Kingston (42-19) finished with a top 25 RPI.
2017 - Jim Morris missed the NCAA Tournament with Miami's history and resources.

I will take a drink every time you employ a one-off sample size.

I'll be drunk by dinner time.

Yeah, missing the tournament means nothing. Like Duke missing the NCAA basketball tournament. Nothing to see here.

Any word on the 288th best offense in college baseball? Another outlier? No one's fault?
