Part of the problem with Guidry

The 2nd half "adjustments" totally destroy the narrative of void of talent, pass rush... blah blah blah.

Kind of an underappreciated observation. The UM D somehow gets better in the second half of games all season. If it was a pure talent issue, you wouldn’t see that. It would be much more variable- sometimes locking down first half, giving up points second half. But we always get better in the second half. So that suggests to me that there is a coaching problem in the first half- not able to adjust to what the O is doing. Second half he starts to figure out the offense and the calls get better.

I have noticed that our D could not stop the opposite speedsters in short pass situations. It needs to be addressed.

Man on the back end in the 1st half, and yes, the D-Line stunted a lot.

if u were in the gameday threads u would see i said he gets killed inside. He doesnt want to play there either and it shows. Its why he came here from WVU..hes to light to play there consistently if your not slanting him or something. At end he makes plays
We’re on the same page as usual. I haven’t liked it from the moment I heard he’d be inside majority of the time. He’s too light in the *** on the first two downs and like you said he doesn’t want to be there. He’s fine on third downs or obvious pass downs but even then he’s not getting much pressure.

This is exactly why I'm upset with Lance.

Once coach Brew realized Guidry was going man heavy he adjusted on Dukes 3rd series.

He isolates Maui1 against their back and got a huge deep ball. At that point Guidry has to recognize that he's in checkmate and make a move to protect his players.

No..... that's too easy. This MF arrogant Cajun stays in Man and let's them rail off 28 in the first half and I see fans complaining bout pass rush and ****.

Only to play more zone In the 2nd half and totally dismantle Dukes offense.

That same adjustment should and could have been made in that 3rd series. He's too reliant on his gameplan and methodology going into the game. It's pure arrogance. Make the ******* adjustments and let go of your ego dude.

**** Guidry.

To your point, after FIU canned Mario IIRC part of the reason he didn't stick around Golden & Co were issues with team leadership like Dorito wanting high IQ low upside guys over athletes. Guys who were averse to playmaking altogether.

I just think Guidry is a McNeese St tier coach & hope he gets ****ed ASAP.
I like this energy let’s keep this narrative going this week because LANCE needs to go regardless 💯‼️

Off the dome

1. Limit snaps for #7, #19, #1.

2. Play more #20, #22, #33

3. More simulated pressure. Your defense sucks, force offenses to communicate and keep that RB in the backfield to block. This especially makes sense if you’re gonna stunt harder than G-Unit in 2005.

4. Whoever is teaching this technique where our slot CBs are in a side shuffle trying to create leverage needs to be shot. We will force a WR outside with no help so they just run an out 😖

5. Please stop the hockey line changes on the defensive line. Taking the entire starting dline out is like saying “Hey let’s just pretend our whole starting unit got hurt for this drive.”
Rotate the youth with experience don’t put them all out there together at once idiots.

I think the biggest issue with the pass rush is being too cute with all the stunts and twists. We had a lot of success in the second half with Bain just bull rushing and man handling the tackles. Nothing creative. Btw he low key dominated in the fourth.
It reminded me of him against Clemson last year

He’s inside because we’re stocking g to a more traditional 4-3 and Clark is just not good enough next to Barrow at that spot. I agree with your 3-4 suggestion where we’d have a NG, Clark or Moten, inside. Barrow and Mesidor further out, and Bain and Baron further out still.

Guidry is a fine DC. Feel free to disagree but I am a firm believer in talent over scheme most of the time. Our DB/LB talent (or evals if you will) is behind our offense.

Just like I think Dawson is a very good OC but once Cam leaves and we start averaging 30 ppg instead of 40 we'll all be wondering how he "forgot" how to coach offense.
The D is worse at explosives than the D of nerd schools that don't recruit in the top 50 and teams that were G5 a few months ago, something is sub-optimal beyond the talent issue.

They need to hire some NFL defensive analyst and make some emergency tweaks, I am not tryna waste a championship offense and Heisman QB after 20+ years of watching booty cheeks teams.

This is astonishing to me

But I also don’t think the backups are the answer. I don’t even feel like debunking the stuff in the OP because people are all in their feels about backups

But the pass rush has absolutely sucked for a while
We’re not rotating them. It’s late in the season, they probably have tired legs.
