Part of the problem with Guidry

I had my doubts. I saw him at Michigan St and Harmon was the better player. But he looked active

Took him a little bit to get going but he’s been amazing

This year it's the exact opposite and he refuses to adapt and acts like the DBs can play sticky man coverage. He's overly aggressive with stupid stunts and **** but it never works.

He needs to play more base zone D and make offenses actually earn points. He's been a massove disappointment this year and may need to go if he doesn't adjust in the next game or two.

You were correct with the first two sentences which leads me to believe this secondary must be so God awful in practice playing zone that he wouldn't dare try it in a game
 
A lot of things can be true at the same time. As ludicrous as it seems to drop Baron into coverage, what's he done otherwise since UF and the weak sisters of the poor on the schedule? And Bain's a beast, but still may not be 100%. Is Alston playing/coming back? So yeah, pass rush is a problem. Even good secondaries struggle w/o one.

Everyone except OJ struggles in man, yet we keep playing it. Does Guidry think half the field is 'shut down' so he can manage? Opposing coaches consistently 'scheme up' Guidry with large chunks of the field wide open, and obvious mismatches. Kiko again iso'd into yielding a big gain.

Sometimes the other guys just make plays. As poor as Duke's offense has played this year, the qb dropped a couple dimes and had a solid first half before crashing back to earth. And there were a couple highlight reel catches (one particularly), that led to points.

Seemed like each of their scoring drives has an absurd catch like that push off toe drag and obviously the one hander.
 
Guidry is this years Dawson..yall hated Dawson last year even though we still had a pretty good offense but TVD kept throwing to the wrong team..Dawson has a better QB and now Dawson might be a head coach next year…this year we know Guidry doesn’t have the experience/talent on the backend and yall want him gone….

He needs to simplify the defense, so guys don’t have to think so much and just play fast. I said it a couple of weeks ago. Dude is too hard headed, and he’s gonna cost us a game. Just simplify it and let our dogs hunt.

What are you basing that off of? We have yet to drop 8 and let 4 rush to even know if they can get home or not. Like we legit haven't done it all season long.

We consistently stunt and blitz, with soft coverage behind it, leaving huge holes in the secondary with easy hot reads that nullify any type of pass rush advantage.

So, the talent is good enough to hold Duke to 3 in the 2nd half, but not the 1st half? Gtfoh with that BS.

That would be impossible, as there can only be 11 men on the field at once, and your math adds up to 12, which would result in a “too many men on the field” penalty.

Also, I don’t know which game you were watching, but we barely blitzed today. Guidry was rushing 4 and playing man-to-man in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, he played a lot of zone, and it gave Malik a lot of trouble.

Duke literally scored on 3rd and 5 because he sent pressure and played soft coverage behind it. Pitch and catch.

Duke OC adjusted to Lance by 3rd series.

Lance let's him run up 28 points before he counters. Unacceptable.

Should have been in zone the entire game. Nothing about Murphy film says play man.

We blitzed a couple of times in the 1st half. The rest of the time we were just rushing 4 down linemen.
 
Cover 2 would be nice. But that requires a quick MLB and Kiko doesn't fit that mold at all.

I think Guidry makes it worse. OCs know we have a good pass rush, so they make sure QB gets the ball out of his hands quickly. Simply no time to let the DL get to the QB. And with man coverage and the lack of talent at DB , plus the 10 yard cushion, they will find an open man. I’m not a football guru but seems to me that rushing 4 and playing zone might give more opportunities to make a QB take time and scan the field, and the DL will have time to get pressure. Frankly maybe the best D we can run with what we have is what FSU ran against us. Nobody gets behind the D. You can dink and dunk down the field all you want and score FGs with 8 min drives , but we’re not going to give up explosive plays.

Dude wants his gimmicks and BS to be the reason for our success and not the players abilities.

Why tf we in man? Knowing Maui1 is going to be isolated and picked the entire game? I mean how many games he going to let this happen?

That’s what annoys me with the cushions and bailing out. Quick easy throws takes away from your strength which is the pass rush.

I agree with you.

…and it’s not semantics. I’m just stating facts. We barely blitzed in the 1st half and hit zero pressure on Malik. If he simplifies our D, our dudes should play much better.

Guidry also didn’t start disguising coverages until the 2nd half. Why? I have no idea.

if u were in the gameday threads u would see i said he gets killed inside. He doesnt want to play there either and it shows. Its why he came here from WVU..hes to light to play there consistently if your not slanting him or something. At end he makes plays
