Part of the problem with Guidry

He's stubborn in his philosophy too. Famu wrs were streaking open. That should of been his sign that what he is doing was getting exposed by lesser talent and would only get worse as the competition got better. He going to keep getting that work by other OC's until he shows he can stop what they are doing with what he wants to do or he's going to have to change his philosophy.
Definitely seems to have a smartest guy in the room mentality

well teams are getting the ball out quick at times too. They know are DB's arent very good. I just dont get it. Harris is a mess and every time Zaquan is on the field he makes plays. if not for Richard, they probably only score like 7 points today. I dont get it.

DBs 10 yards off at times as well. When they do play up, they don't press and just give free releases. QBs rarely have to move off their first read against us. Guys are running wide open immediately.

Guidry is an aggressive playcaller.

He has a thin secondary that struggles with communication and man coverage at times.

He needs more from his DL.

Man, stop it.

Guidry is full of himself. He doesn't even give the DL a chance. He continues to stunt and blitz, unnecessarily.

Dude could've easily played less man and sent less pressure in the first ****** half..

But nooo, the same Duke who couldn't score 28 points with 6 TOs and overtime score 28 in the 1st half on his defense because he refuse to adjust.

He schemes and gimmicks the players right out of position to make plays.

He can go to ****.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I was pleasantly surprised by improved play by the secondary in the 2nd half of the game today. Hopefully it means guys are learning on the job, but being that we're 9 games into the season, probably not.

The first half was absolutely horrible though. The 2nd Duke TD was especially ridiculous. A WR running a crossing route with 3 Hurricane defenders all within 5 yards of each other in the middle of the field. No one following the guy at all.

Not much of a pass rush should be the biggest surprise which doesn’t help an already suspect secondary.
This is astonishing to me

But I also don’t think the backups are the answer. I don’t even feel like debunking the stuff in the OP because people are all in their feels about backups

But the pass rush has absolutely sucked for a while

Do we ever blitz..the dline gets zero push and Bain and whoever is opposite him don’t seem to be getting any pressure either…you give anyone 10 seconds to throw and the DBs are going to have trouble staying with their guys.

Not saying this is all the problem but having a qb have to rush would help things instead of what Don Meredith said one time “ he had enough time back there to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich”.

You guys keep saying " not much of a pass rush".

What are you basing that off of? We have yet to drop 8 and let 4 rush to even know if they can get home or not. Like we legit haven't done it all season long.

We consistently stunt and blitz, with soft coverage behind it, leaving huge holes in the secondary with easy hot reads that nullify any type of pass rush advantage.

So, the talent is good enough to hold Duke to 3 in the 2nd half, but not the 1st half? Gtfoh with that BS.

Gotta remember who they played. I watched them beat fsu and they couldn’t complete a pass. Three and out after three and out. They are not good.

Gattis would light this defense up. I’m convinced Guidry goes into halftime and calls someone smarter for help
Gattis? Nah bruh. **** no😂🤣😂. But No. Guidry just takes too **** long to adjust to what offenses are giving him. It’s like he sees it…. but he not believing wtf he seeing. Halftime gives him the time to decompress, scrap the original game plan, and finally adjust to what’s going on in the game. Our coverage schemes, ran with the dudes we putting on the field, is ***. Not necessarily cause the talent is bad, it’s because we have a DC that refuses to switch up from time to time. Think of a baseball pitcher that only throws fastballs. If the opposing team can get the bat on it, it’s gonna go a long way. I get it…. Part of the reason he sits on his hands is he’s probably scared of having multiple coverage busts like we saw stay at Cal. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Idk. 2nd half, he throws in some zone coverages , some zone some different blitzes, and we look like a totally different defense. I just wished he would do the **** earlier.

We all knew the secondary was the Achilles heal. Why are we acting surprised we are struggling in coverage?

I'm confused - we seem to be playing something similar to a Prevent Defense the entire game - game after game.

Rushing 3? And they're picking us apart?

Balls.

You gotta play like you have a pair.

You guys think we've been getting burnt by the same themes the last 4 weeks and they haven't tried to coach it up?

I liked some of the 2 high stuff today, but our dl has to get home. We haven't been running as much simulated pressure either.

The stunting **** isn't working.

Nah bruh you can’t convince me Enos/Gattis aren’t putting up 30 on Guidry lol.

I’m also not convinced that Guidry alone is the one making the adjustments. Hes completely lost me
