New commit

I'm personally a South Florida apologist on many many fronts but a lot of people need to realize that the "underrated" or "diamond in the rough" type kids aren't just local kids. I'm constantly hearing demands to offer sooooo many local kids because someone just watched a practice or a 7 on 7 game or knows their momma or thinks it'll help get another kid. Then these same people go apes**t when we scoop a 3 star kid they've never heard of. Just chill or like I said before, start calling for Kehoe's head. Maybe Luigi Cristobal can replace him? I know plenty of Alabamy fans not too happy with his apparent actual corching abilities.

Btw, I'm not claiming this kid is even the next coming of Bibla or Ty Wise and people that want to make evaluations based on his film are obviously entitled. I just think we can all spot the chronic impulse b**tchers though.

We'll be getting blown out by every good team we play if we continue to recruit like this.

This class we're assembling is weak sauce.

OL is the hardest position to evaluate, especially how players transition to playing kids their own size or strength. A lot of these OL are just bigger than competition, that's why there's a good amount of flops there .

That being said, the film was very meh.

The late addition from Clay HS had a far more impressive highlight tape, against better competition.

Jermaine Johnson 4 star, Chris Barney 4 star, Reggie Youngblood 5 star, Seantrel Henderson 5 star (Yes he had flashes), Tyler Mcmeans 5 star

All these guys were so much better because they had huge names, and those stars!!!!

Lolz at all of the morons in this thread throwing the term "star whores" around.

You fail to acknowledge that star ratings are strongly correlated to future All-American status and whether or not that player becomes an NFL Draft pick.

You can say what you want, but these 4* and 5* players have a much better chance of turning into significant contributors as opposed to 3* and 2* players.

If we keep recruiting this way, the measuring stick for Al Golden will always be whether or not we beat Duke. That's pathetic, we should want to contend for National Championships.

Solid pickup..I'm not complaining about it...Coach Kehoe does a great with the OL talent...he one of the best in the entire nation....his track record speaks for itself, so before people criticize this commit, let it work...So. Florida doesn't have elite OL talent this year unlike last year we got the best 3 so. Fl had to offer McDermott, Darling, and Linder...I dnt mind the out of state OL...So. Fl isn't knwn for it...but the northeast where recruit at, does....

Go ahead and name all of the 2* and 3* players on the current roster that hasn't developed into higher talents. Our current team depends on the higher ranked players- Duke, Howard, Coley, Flowers, Burns, Bush, etc...

There is a plethora of evidence rankings matter, ******. Here's one of many:

Cane since birth said it best. If rivals or whoever raises his rating in a few months, everyone will suddenly be on board with this commit and he will be mentioned as one of everyone's favorite recruits in the class. It's just sad, the majority of this thread is bashing the kid. I trust Al and Co on their Oline evals, if they offered him so early in the game AND took his commitment 2 months later they obviously really like him and that's good enough for me. Plus it's kind of hard to get commits from the 4 stars on our board when the vast majority of them haven't committed yet. Should we just shut down recruiting until we can get a couple of 4 stars on board to satisfy the people who desperately crave that extra star? Btw Welcome to the U Hayden!

"The exceptions prove the rule: Overwhelmingly, setting aside every other conceivable factor that determines success and failure -- injuries, academics, even coaching -- individual players and teams tend to perform within the very narrow range their initial recruiting rankings suggest. Some percentage of both groups will not. But when it comes to forming expectations, it should go without saying that you never want to count on being one of the anomalies."

“46 players in the Super Bowl were UNRANKED or 2 STARS coming out of high school, keep working make your dream reality! Best tweet I've seen”

Anyone who only uses stars as their basis for a player's talent is being lazy. But anyone who dismisses stars as not important is being naive. The truth is that our coaches have NOT proven over their tenure that they can out scheme anyone OR develop lower rated kids into great players (like, say, a Virginia Tech). That means we need PREMIER talent to win. We aren't getting that and I don't feel confident in our staff to win with kids that aren't supremely gifted.

*Waits for someone to mention Denzel(who has played the same since he was a FR), Flowers(offered by big schools later), etc*

Denzel has played the same as a freshman? What?

As for Flowers, that speaks to the early evaluation skills. Just so happens he's SoFla so more folks could vouch for him, but at the time they took him nobody wanted him.

The star whores on here are the worst.

I'm no star *****.

The fact is, we have 7 commits and all of them except one are 3 stars. The one that isn't is a low 4 star on ONE site.

That might be OK at Duke, because they have the staff to coach them up. We don't. We need 4 and 5 stars if we're ever gonna do anything.

That's..... that's a star *****....

Nope.

I'm fine with taking 5-6 lower rated guys. Our entire class right now is low rated guys.

It's not even April.

Exactly. Are these clowns melting down? If anything they'd be more justified in overreacting.

So, I don't follow recruiting like most youse guysum, but am I supposed to be impressed that his other offers were BC, Akron, Elon, Old Dominion, and Villanova? So, one other BCS conference offer, one MAC offer and the rest I-AA offers. What are we doing? I know stars aren't everything, but I do look at who the other offers are from, and that's sad.
