New 2014 DT Signee; Joe Brown

He has no explosion off the ball at all. He is consistently getting blown off the ball and making plays due to lack of pass rush. He has great lateral quickness though which he looks like a linebacker at times. Overall this a reach and fail by the staff.

Wait, if you are correct, he fits the scheme perfect. 1) get blown off ball. 2) Make plays after 8 yard gain because of no pass rush 3) DL chases rb or WR on sideline pass routes. Amazed he is still available. Wait, the rest of college football is trying to STOP the other team before they gain 8 yards. We ahead of the curve, on the cutting edge of the new age defense which focuses on exhausting the other team by letting it gain more yardage than they are conditioned to handle. See NCAA is adding a 5th quarter and only Al know it. We will be the only team ready for the 5 quarter game.

Yes, it's a double-secret new rule.

I love the fact these are this guys highlights. What do the low lights look like?

NOTHING like these two ******' morons. And the ****** who lost to a 1-AA team.

JAG special, the more I look at his highlights, I'm not sure if he's worthy of a preferred walk-on spot here, WTF is the staff doing?

Watched the highlights and saw a very different player from the complainers. Handled double teams very well and slipped them go get into pursuit. Stood up blockers and able to work his way through trash to get to the ball-carrier. Needs to get into program to work on quickness. Might have potential to be very solid college player.

Not excited about this, but I'm not gonna **** on him either. We all know we don't ask our DL to make plays so if he just takes up space his job will be done.

Agreed. The **** we want with a DT with dominant highlights for?

Be big. Eat up space. Play for the U.

Jedi,
Where do you see King in this kid? He's half a foot taller than King and about 75 pounds heavier coming in. King was one of our stronger players and this kid is so underdeveloped he can't bench his weight. Is it his style of play? How can anyone know wether this kid is going to be any good now! If he has work ethic and smarts to go along with that size, he'll be able to contribute eventually. And our fans/this board have become unbeliveably petty and irrational.
Welcome to the U kid!

does signing Joe Brown count toward our scholarship reductions for NCAA purposes?

5.8 40 laser time? No thanks

Haven't seen the film yet - gotta run to class - but 40 times are close to useless for DTs. They tell you absolutely nothing about what they can do on a football field but they can be used with other testing numbers for a general picture of athleticism.

Look at 10-yd splits, broad jump and vertical jump for DTs in general. Short shuttle and 3-cone are good for change of direction, but some techniques (3-tech) require more CoD than others, and there are plenty of good college 3-techs who are stiff (ex. Jernigan).

this commitment is the epitome of the state of this program right now

of course. its not flipping michael wyche who was a handpicked player of orgeron, or getting moten who is a stud, or courtel jenkins telling osu and psu no thanks, or getting heurtelou out of nowhere.

They're just on the rag again and a little over emotional. They have to have something to ***** about.

Ok, we signed Moten, guess that gives our staff the freedom to sign a trash bag full of fish heads that benches as much as a very strong housewife.

**** out of here.

A guy with good numbers in those categories will have a good 40. A guy with a good 40 will have good measurable a all around. You won't find 5.8 40 with a 30in vert or a 4.6 shuttle

I'm sure the professional staff knows a **** of a lot more than some nobody sitting on his couch and surfing the web. Brown may not be a star, but he has the potential to add quality depth at a position of need. Someone to plug into the rotation who will likely be better than King or Moore.

Welcome to the U kid!

It's a figure of speech....it's my way of saying they are both JAG's.

The stench of desperation coming from staff reaches all the way back to the Pennsylvania area.

Lol @ "how can anyone know if the kid will be good?"

Well, he's slow, weak, and ****** at football. Strong indication that this won't end well.

And wow at the "oh, so now you know more than the coaches?" Haven't seen that line thrown out since the days of Daniel Stegal and Daniel Adderly. Some people never learn.

He may not be explosive but he makes tackles "As a senior, Brown recorded 82 tackles (nine for a loss) and six sacks. He also had a fumble recovery."
