Mark Walton Arrested Again

The dude has been in trouble with the law since 2019 (when he was 21 years old). How about he’s just a lawbreaker until there’s evidence to suggest otherwise. Because him being a lawbreaker is a fact, blaming his behavior on CTE is conjecture.
You are correct the facts speak for themselves at this point, I still wont be surprised if he has CTE tho...

He is struggling. Some of you peeps are a holes. Imagine. Here is a Liberty City kid who's Dad was murdered when he was 7 years old, his brother was shot and killed and his mom died from a stoke at 45 years old... I ain't saying what he's done is right, but no one should have to go through what he has had too...
He also almost certainly has CTE. He didn't have nearly this many issues when he was a student.

CTE is serious and a good deal remains unknown, but if remember correctly Walton had concerning off-the-field issues as far back as 2016. There was the crazy story when he was 19 of impersonating a police officer, tracking down a young woman in her car. Believe it was his first public screwup and he got off. Young man needs to be taken off the street before he hurts someone or himself. Very sad.

CTE can start as far back as youth football. However, didn't the PD say that Walton wasn't even involved in that incident? It was just a dui.

There were conflicting stories at the time and in retrospect Walton was probably fortunate charges were dropped. Again, can't suggest CTE every time someone screws up. And if there's evidence of youth football triggering CTE, then a very frightening indictment of the sport.

Nobody from Liberty City would know anything about robbing dudes at gunpoint. Where did he learn this? Gables? CTE my ***.

We throw around CTE too quickly with stuff like this. IF it was as prevalent an impetus in these behaviors as we tend to make it then pro/former pro athletes would have higher arrest rates than the general population and they don't.

Could it be CTE? Sure. But it's wayyyyy more likely to be a mental health and/or substance abuse issue combined with obvious maturity issues.

Not really. Richt was very strict with this type of stuff. If Walton actually impersonated a cop and groped a woman he probably would have been kicked off the team. I also highly doubt Dade PD would have dropped those charges if they where true.

There is tons of evidence that you can get CTE from youth football. Why do you think football membership is dropping in most places.

If it was substance abuse he would have most likely failed a drug test by now(other than weed). Not everyone reacts the same to CTE. Its just like with drugs. I knew tons of kids at Miami that would do all sorts of crazy drugs and never hurt a fly, but other people try meth one time and go out and cause a hostage situation. The same is clearly the case with CTE. Some people get it and just forget things or little minor inconveniences. Other people turn violent or lose impulse control etc.

Also, its not like CTE is common in every pro sport. Its not like golfers and tennis players are getting tons of CTE. You would have to compare NFL/boxers/mma fighters/etc against the general population. You also should be comparing those guys to people in similar financial brackets since being poor is a major factor in getting arrested.

This does get thrown around quickly by the doctors here at CIS. Could be that, who knows, some people are just born fuqing crazy and are extremely good at hiding it while they are happy. Either way without ball this man is completely lost and you hate to see it happening to a Cane. Hopefully this is the push he needs to get the help he needs.

If you revisit the story, it was odd and conflicting to say the least. It perhaps makes more sense now in light of Walton's other odd behavior and arrests. As for Richt, he's a great guy and thankfully started to turn around the program, but he's also a Bowden disciple and wasn't a strict disciplinarian. His Georgia program had all sorts of off-field issues.

Would love to see the tons of evidence related to CTE and youth football. Believe the sole method for medical researchers to identify CTE is through dissecting brains after individuals have passed away. Typically, the process includes prior agreement with the family to donate the family member's brain. Not familiar with any studies involving youth football.

Whatever the specific diagnosis, one thing is certain, Walton is suffering from a very serious brain condition. His behavior is not due to a lack of values, or morals, or not learning from his mistakes etc.

He needs to be held accountable for his actions but that doesn't mean we can't have compassion for the man.

Are you kidding? Richt was incredibly strict. UGA fans used to complain all the time about Richt suspending for minor off field issues. He did the same here.

So you think children are magically protected from brain issues? Do you realize how little impact your head actually needs to get damaged? Youth soccer teams are removing heading the ball now because that can cause brain damage. Let alone actually getting tackled.

This is a study that shows CTE players who started playing younger showed signs earlier.

It also doesn't matter if it isn't expressly CTE. No one would argue that youth football doesn't cause brain damage. And brain damage is frequently linked with violent crime.

Not opining on whether or not he has brain damage - he very well might - but regardless of that, some people are just bad people.

Not everyone is inherently good or moral.
