based on Ofacekilla's eligibility chart this puts us at 79 currently. We were at 83 after Witt's career ended. Since then Junior Alexis, Vernon Davis, Jermaine Johnson, and now Kelvin Cain have left the team.

Guess Golden was pretty much nailed it when he said we would be playing with 80 players this year.

I would not be shocked if by the start of next season we see roughly 15 Shannon players left on the team. Six of which would be our starting offensive line and quarterback.

I can foresee some extra attrition of some guys that are just not playing or need to make room for the young players. I still think we end up with roughly 20 freshman...a bit of a jump from the 16 or so that was projected.

Jumped the gun with that, but it seems likely that he's going to transfer.

You would think that by now Jermaine would realize he has no football future. This is his 6th year out of high school. By the time you are 23 or 24 you just have to know the truth.

Kayne was a model 'Cane though...represented Miami well. Just was way behind as a skill position player when he was here. He only started playing football during his first year at a JUCO and while he dominated the JUCO ranks, while at Miami, so-so player. FWIW, he's dominating the Arena League he plays in now.

Kayne is always going to be a case of "what would have happened if this kid played football in HS"...he would've been really really good, I think.
