Kelvin Cain kinda sorta no longer on the team ????

.

I actually remember a few people saying Gaines could actually be ok here(and for what he came in at I think he has lived up to that) but people were flat out baffled by Cain.

And again two very very lightly recruited LBs are/were in our top 3 DE rotation.

As I've mentioned before...Kelvin Cain's other legitimate offers were San Jose State and Portland State. This guy should have been no where near the program, but was a true Randy special. One of the coaches at Buchanan is one of Randy's boys.

I don't make excuses for Golden on everything but dammit mane, some things are just so ****ed.

I think maybe some guys that don't follow recruiting and didn't get the insight you and I did back then from some guys that knew their stuff, don't realize the amount of WTF's we had back then.

Agreed.

The sad thing is, I've talk to some who do follow recruiting like You and I do and they still blame **** on him. It just shows how clueless some fans truly are.

Man I don't want to go off on a tangent here but **** talking about this boils me.

We have harped on and on about the defensive recruiting and for good reason but that doesn't even hold a candle to our QB recruiting. If I could ask Shannon one question I would just want to know how long he thought Jacory Harris could play until he had to actually go find someone else.

The plan was for Teddy Bridgewater to come in and play QB for us after Jacory. Morris would've been his backup.

What baffled me was that Shannon went across the country twice to get two 2-star linebackers. (Cain, Gaines). You're telling me there was no one in South Florida that they could get with similar or better upside? He went straight up Coker with this class. Out of the 5 LB's he recruited to play there (Only Gaines ended up an FBS LB) only Nelson was from Florida and he wasn't offered by a team in spitting distance of him.

Does that maybe say something about the relationship between Shannon and South Florida coaches/players in his 4th season at Miami?

Bingo.

And as we all know its completely foolish to put all your eggs in one basket, let alone basically do it twice in a row. You know same as me how many guys we passed on along the way.

And for most of the season he was our 3rd DE, a 2* LB from California. Let that sink in for a minute.
Our 2nd DE is a former 3* LB with 2 reconstructed knees. Let that sink in for a minute.
Now go look at the .gif of King and our LB (think Gaines) getting trucked by the FSU OT.

And yet there are still people who think this should be a good defense.

Diego, my man...you know my thoughts. Corey King is FCS talent. Shayon Green is a bionic should-be Ole Miss level player. Jimmy Gaines is and was a MAC talent. It is, what it is, at this point.

CORAL GABLES — Miami lost a little depth on its defensive line this bye week.
A UM spokesman confirmed to the Sun Sentinel that Kelvin Cain left the Hurricane teams as it prepares for the final four games of the season.
Cain played in the first seven games, but not in Saturday's 33-20 loss to Florida State. Cain made 11 tackles this season including one sack. He was a backup defensive end.
More details to come on this developing story.

How many CFB squads have half the team mysteriously disappear over the course of a season? Jesus, this program was a mess. Golden must be wishing for the simple life at Temple.
