Here is the ENTIRETY of my post, with emphasis added:

"Yeah. Imagine what would have happened in Mississippi if 3 black students in, say, Omega Psi Phi, went to "downtown" Oxford and shot up a statue of a Confederate general, and then posed for photos.

I just WONDER what would have happened then..."

Don't blame me for your stupidity and lack of reading comprehension. I clearly and obviously speculated on what the REACTION would have been if black men defaced a Confederate memorial. It's not my fault that you mistakenly tried to equate the regular and ongoing defacement of various Emmett Till memorials (which I did not even include in those paragraphs) with the hypothetical defacement of a Confederate memorial.

It's sad to see that some people cannot handle adult logic and discussion. When a person provides an EXAMPLE (not an "equation") to illustrate a point about how the reactions would have been vastly different.

Keep your ignorance to yourself and stop trying to intervene in discussions that are beyond your intellectual level.

I am not mad at the racist idiots who did this. I am mad at the black parents who keep sending their kids to these schools knowing this is going on. At some point, we need to cut the snakes head off by having some pride and shame as a black community and stop funneling black athletes to schools who don't clearly are not opposed to racism at the school or the community.

What is the purpose? Try going to law school, then maybe you can comprehend what it is like to discuss hyotheticals. You give examples for purposes of analyzing what is similar or different in each outcome, and trying to determine why. And you clearly do not understand the definition of "comparable". Here's a hint, it's not the same as "identical" or "equal" or "same".

Broke no laws? Defacing property, whether public property or private property, is a violation of the law. Whether Mississippi has enacted enhanced penalties related to motive (i.e., hate-based) is a separate issue.

And, yeah, we're going to have racist-defenders talking about how "it's just a picture". Fine, collect shell casings, do ballistics tests on the guns, show photos of the memorial before and after those guys took their photo, do whatever it takes to build the case that these guys did more than "just take a picture".

Schools have kicked out kids for violating a code of conduct. Maybe the code of conduct at ole miss doesn’t include damaging that sign. What they did carries a lot of historic and symbolic significance.
Other schools have in theirs code of conduct specific language to avoid and expel students for acts like this.
I’m sure if a student at another school poses in front of a holocaust monument off campus with a gun after he shot it up he would be kicked out.
I’m pointing out that it’s legal. I’m also pointing out that ole miss doesn’t have anything in its code of conduct to expel or suspend students that perform act like this.

Before you speak on Malcolm X, make sure you know what the **** you are talking about. After he came from Mecca, he realized that his original thinking was wrong and he actually ran into some white muslims while there. He brought that message back to the Nation of Islam and that is why the Nation of Islam turned on him, labeled him a traitor and ultimately assassinated him. Stick to heavy metal rock bands and football. Leave the black history to those who actually know it.

Excellent points, and the LACK of specific rules, throughout the South, constitute further evidence of how this kind of behavior has been tolerated, accepted, and celebrated (in certain circles) for centuries. This isn't the first time something like this is happened, but it's about the millionth time that something like this has been tolerated because "there isn't a rule or law against it".

Yea im familiar with the emmit till story but still dont know what is wrong with taking a pic in front of the sign?
unless im missing parts of the story, i dont see the offensive part. the only insinuation im getting is its wrong because they are white kids and they are holding guns?

Did they shoot it? I thought it was just a picture of them standing there.

Go back and re-read the story.

The sign was shot up. They defaced it (may be hard to prove, but that's why they took the photo, to either rightly or falsely claim credit). Defacing Emmett Till memorials is somewhat of a sport in Mississippi, it's been happening for years.

It's not "3 dudes randomly standing in front of a random memorial while randomly holding guns".

You're right. When dudes go out hunting and shoot a deer and then pose next to the dead deer while holding their guns, it's "just a picture of them standing there". Yep, happens all the time. Nothing to see here. You are a fantastic denier of reality.

No lawyer, but I think a strong argument can be made that this is a hate crime, and isn't protected as freedom of speech. This is an overt threat to blacks. You don't need to physically harm someone to assault someone. Mental abuse is an assault, and I think this is abusive.

Does anyone believe these kids would still be in school if they went to Harvard or Yale ... or Miami? They'd be expelled instantaneously.

I know what happened at mecca with malcolm. That doesn't change his quotes about ALL white people being evil and devils.


By the way i dont listen to heavy metal. Unless the temptations, otis redding, muddy waters are considered heavy metal these days.
