If true brace yourself

Now it makes perfect sense why this is taking as long as it has.......the NCAA has nothing!

Oh, don't get it twisted my friend...the NCAA has corroborated evidence against Miami in regards to some of Shapiro's claims. There has been more than one canary that has sung because of a vendetta against the University or because they were ignorant and bought the tactics the NCAA was selling. This is just another tactic the NCAA is using to try and get more players to sit with them, because many have told them to **** off, didn't return phone calls, etc. So, consider this one more tactic to corroborate claims.

No one is talking about getting out of this without a scratch. But it shows that plenty of it can't be proven or just flat out isn't true. If whatever they were doing was so effective, no letter needed to be sent. A letter that as some people with legal backgrounds have pointed out could at least get the NCAA a cease and desist letter from some of the players.

As much as it pains me to agree in this situation; I am afraid this is the most likely scenario.

Every school in the NCAA better pay attention to this- if they do it to us, they can do it to them. This is going to cause a lof of backlash, talk about overplaying your hand. Now we see what kind of political pull Swofford, Shalala, etc. have.

This isn't gonna end well for us. The NCAA is a corrupt organization and they already have their minds made up. With all the **** that goes on in AAU basketball, the are worried about guys that played 10 years ago. Those old players are gone. Shapiro is in prison. We have a staff in place that had nothing to do with any of that. But, the NCAA won't just let us move on. We would have come out better raping young boys or stealing textbooks, or using tutors to take tests.

Here's an idea: vacate all wins from 2002 thru 2008, 2 year bowl ban, 15 scholly loss, 5 years probation, and be done with it. Geez.....

LOL, this **** is beyond ridiculous now. **** the NCAA, this is bull****. Where was the witch hunt for UNC, *, etc?

And we were the only school who was ******* cooperating with them.

WOULD YOU SACRIFICE THE 2001 NC?

Why don't the players just talk and if they're guilty just deny? What do they have to lose bull****ting the NCAA?

The answer to your question is because they don't have to. They don't give a flying fluck about the NCAA. But, I see your logic and thought the same thing..

I wonder what Dapper thinks of this....

a couple of important things to keep in mind.

1) Enforcement is like the police and prosecutors in one office. They have to investigate the case, then prove it in the infractions hearing. They will always sound over the top - it is their job.

2) There are frequently allegations in a Notice Of Allegations that are not subsequently proven at the infractions hearing.

3) The letter only states that Enforcement will take a nonresponse as an admission. That has no effect on the COI at the hearing - the COI will not draw the same conclusion. There will still have to be corroborating evidence. The COI will not just take Shapiro's word for things. However, circumstantial evidence such as photos and phone records can add up to corroborate things that Shapiro says. It is evident that there is not circumstantial evidence to support allegations violations by all 100+ former athletes - had there been, yahoo would have included all of them. Moreover, keep in mind that yahoo was actually incorrect on some of the corroborating information. Even if there is corroborating information on 60 former athletes, there is a huge difference between 60 and 114.

4) I had something else to say, but it slipped my mind, so I'll end with this - also keep in mind that there were very few specific allegations about any particular players. Most of them had to do with getting free entry into clubs and free drinks. Those are garden variety violations. Yes, its serious, but that's UNC serious (players getting a few thousand dollars), not USC serious (player getting six figures of impermissible benefits).
