Golden's First True Senior Class

our defense sucks on it own, but the offenses inability to sustain drives made them look even worse

Miami's offense was 16th in the nation in yards per play. Miami's defense was 82nd. That's with injuries to Duke, Dorsett and Morris. This was an 11-win offense and a 4-win defense.

And before anyone says "the defense wore down from being on the field too long," Miami was 97th in the nation in first quarter scoring defense. These guys were getting smacked around from the jump.

I'm not saying anything we all don't already know: Miami's future depends on the growth of the defense and, most specifically, the defensive line.

From a raw talent standpoint, I really like the talent we've accumulated on the DL these last couple years:

McCord
Kamalu
AQM
Thomas
Harris
Moten
Heurtelou
Wyche
Jenkins
Jackson

It's too bad that we still have to rely on guys who appear to be jags, but perhaps they're ready to take the next step.

Chickillo
Pierre
Hamilton
Moore
Hoilett
King

Skewed by explosive plays from Coley, Duke.
Problem was when those 2 didn't make big plays the offense stalled, couldn't sustain drives, or convert on 3rd downs.
Really those 2 masked deficiencies on offense that were exposed.
And Morris wasn't a the type that could extend plays on his own and convert when needed to which compounded the problem.
DL is important, but not so more than a heady playmaking QB. Look at Masiel at A&M. Switch QB's and A&M is a .500 team with Morris and we're going to BCS bowls with Maisel.

The discussion alone isn't about talent in a vacuum. We aren't talented enough to win, say, a NC. But the coastal division? Yes, a half retarded group of monkeys can win this division outright. No one on our side is worth a ****. Besides FSU, we have the talent alone to beat everyone on our schedule. But will we? I'm not holding my breath. Every team in the ACC besides FSU will be rebuilding or sucks to begin with. I think 6 of our conference opponents will have a new starter at quarterback. Seven if you don't count Williams at UNC. Our marquee OOC opponents will have turned over rosters. Our cross over game vs. Louisville could not have come at a better time (new coach, new QB) and we'll probably get routed on the road. I have no faith that our coaches will put our talent in a position to win this division, and this division is hot dog ****. Someone prove to me that any team this year besides FSU is more talented than us.

Win the coastal, or get the **** out.

Two biggest games for the Coastal title:

Virginia Tech
-Virginia Tech had the 4th best defense in the country
-We put 24 points on them

-Virginia Tech had the 101st worst offense in the country
- We gave up 549 yards and 42 points at home, in a monsoon

Duke
- Our offense totals 565 total yards, 30 points, and only 1 turnover

- Duke's 47th ranked offense totals 543 yards (358 on the ground) with 48 points and 0 turnovers.

Just ......Just....Just make it stop

Cant believe the depths people go to defend this sorry excuse for coaching and players on defense. I mean your really blaming the offense?..3rd down efficiency??...

GTFOH......they got their doors blown off by avg offenses since Goldy's been here. Stephen Morris really had something to do with Duke's rb doing the WOBBLE DANCE for **** near 400 yds down our throats. Or their fake tebow running the ball like the Icebox on little giants through our d.

This all day. It's not like we are getting lit up by Oregon or TAMU or something. We are getting lit up by teams literally ranked worse on offense than we are on defense. Virginia Tech PUNKED us on national TV with an offense that literally could only score 10 points against ECU. Duke was ranked close to 100 in rushing before they tuned us up for almost 400 on the ground. You want to talk about offensive efficiency, what about the fact we REGULARLY surrender 3rd and 10s and longer for first downs? For ****'s sake we are terrible and I don't understand how people don't see it or act like our talent is awful. Most of our defensive players would play on any team in the ACC besides FSU or Clemson. Cutcliffe would cream in his pants if they had guys like we do :ohlord:

Lmao at saying the two best offensive skill guys "skewed" the offenses stats.

Really? No ****. If you eliminate an offense's top two weapons they stall and aren't as productive!?

Ya don't say!

We are dealing with one of the following:

1. A troll
2. A moron
3. Donofrio's son

Yeah, Texas A&M's offense was skewed by explosive plays from Manziel and Mike Evans...

If your team scores 30 points, you should win 99.9% of games. Not a herculean task for a defense to hold the opposition to 29 points or less, even with today's rules that favor offense.

who the **** is defending D'onfrio or that wack defense??

facts are that the D sucks and our offensive efficiency sucked too.

#113 in the nation in 3rd down efficiency. ****, we didn't even convert 1 3rd down in the bowl game.

if we had an efficient offense, would our defense have been good? **** no! But, the offenses inability to sustain drives definitely hurt the defense.

Many here are so blinded by their hate for "NoD Dorito" that they don't see that we had serious problems on both sides of the ball. Truth be told, the most successful unit our team was the punting unit.

That statement alone should have Golden fired. If the punting unit is the best unit on the team after 3 years, then the head coach and his staff should all be fired.

Oregon was second to last in the entire country in TOP, but their defense was still ranked 37th. Their defense manged to not get butt****ed when their offense was giving the ball back to the opposing team at a breakneck pace.

Not interested in any excuses.

Win the Coastal or get out of my sight.

Given what those guys were coming in, he's actually done an ok job with their "development." Some of the defenders look worse than what they are because of what they're asked to do. From that list, I think 6-7 guys have a chance to be drafted or get a shot at an NFL roster. 3 on defense.

Add in a very talented Junior class, and really, it's ACC Championship or bust.

Thank you.

It's not just about the senior class. We also have a really talented junior class, combined with the senior class that forms the backbone of this team. Mix in some extremely talented sophomores that'll help us in Coley, AQM, Burns and Carter and there's no reason this team shouldn't win 10+ games.

And they weren't playing teams like Virginia and Pitt. Those Pac 12 offenses are no joke. Over half their teams are in the top 40 in total offense plus the meat grinders that are Stanford. Us? Nope. We give up 360 yards to Wake Forest, who averaged like 290 YPG and finished ranked 118 out of 123

Naw this isn't his true senior class but I definitely agree there is enough here to win the Coastal.
If our QB play is solid we should do just that. If we have issues there then I'll spend another year standing in ProRobbie getting wasted to drown out the pain.

Not only talented, but very experienced. Most of them have been playing full-time for two seasons now. There are literally no excuses for this not be Golden's best defense ever.

those two games were the nail in F.A.G.s coffin. just unreal that no one was fired

Miami's future depends on hiring a real ******* coach. this F.A.G. BS defense will not get us anywhere regardless of the talent level. AND recruits will stop coming. the veil has been removed. there is no more uncertainty. the defensive coaching/scheme is pathetic. there is ZERO question about that
