How long are people going to use we're everyone's Super Bowl when we lose a game and it's hard to recruit at Miami because everyone negatively recruits us? The teams taking "our recruits" don't have to negatively recruit Miami because we've done that for them with 20 years of crappy football. It sucks, but the reality is we are a mid-level program...and yeah, I know we draw big ratings because people want to see us lose and laugh every time someone says "Miami is back"

You do realize Chip Kelly took Oregon to a NC game in 2010 and lost vs Auburn and Mark Helferich took Oregon to a NC game in 2014 and lost to Ohio State. GTFOH with Mario putting them on the map...that is TOTAL BS that too many people on here believe

Bruh nah we been ***, this was always going to be the toughest job for any head coach and these types of builds take time. But you have to stay near the top 5 each recruiting cycle to get there faster. He’s done well, 10 wins in year three with his first year having an arena league roster. That’s not bad, I would have signed up for that in the beginning of the season.

we had a top 5-7 class and a top 3-5 class back to back. our defense and giudry being a mess killed us this year. thank good it wasnt an overly talented class. 2026 we can let this happen again.

Just want to ask…. If Mario can’t win here who will? He’s getting the most help from boosters no other coach will get it I think if Mario fails

An actual Xs and Os coach, who can also recruit, which is what you need in this day and age to be successful. If you're not a strong Xs and Os coach, you need to get coordinators who are some of the best of the best (or at least hihgly competent). The successful Miami coaches of the past were great X and O guys/coordinators . Butch Davis may have been the outlier as people on here have questioned Butch's play-calling as HC, but he was a pretty good D-Co under Jimmy for 2 seasons and truly had to rebuild Miami. Mario has one year of experience as a Co-OC at Oregon under Taggart and it constantly shows when coaches of lesser talented teams coach circles around him on gameday.

If Mario doesn't succeed here and the admin/boosters don't want to pay what it costs to have a successful team beyond him, then fold the program.

Defense has to get a stop regardless. It was 4 minutes left in the game. I could see them trying to take advantage of a 1 on 1 matchup especially if we got Harris in man specifically. To get some more breathing room

I would think a predictable offense would be easier to defend. 4th and goal at the 9 with 4 minutes left in the game is unnecessary aggression. We don’t convert the game is over.

Taking mid programs to decent bowl games literally has no correlation to the skill set needed to compete on a national level. The CIS legend of Mike Leach’s greatness has no basis in reality.
 
I see several warning signs under Mario. First, in his first two seasons here we finished in the mid-90’s in the country in penalties. This year we were 115-116, something like that? That’s the sign of an undisciplined and poorly coached team. Second, this team seems to fade in the second half every year under his watch. Typically, you want to be peaking and playing your best football in late October-December so this is another troubling sign. Lastly, this program still suffers from a lack of motivation on too many Saturdays. We still don’t have enough dawgs on this squad who hate to lose.

Mario left him with a 10-3 team and a roster stacked with talent. So far, all he’s done is lose games where he clearly had the better roster. Saying he’s better than Mario already feels like a huge stretch.

He didn’t have to rebuild anything, he was handed a loaded squad, especially in the trenches. The foundation was there; he just hasn’t delivered.
 
I wish we had a Lanning…sigh. Win 10 games next year and my tune changes. I just want some **** consistency with 9-10 wins a year. We can’t even do that right

Correct and after 2014 that program was dead until they hired Mario…now Lanning has taken it to the next level exactly how he is supposed to
