Lanning is a fine coach....but if you dont think Phil Knight is taking it to the next level....The same way Saban did it...just stockpiling 4/5 stars. Not hating on the guy either...like he said he has support. Just elite level support.

In 2-3 years if Lanning hasnt won he is a failure by most fans standards...including this site. All the support in the world, big bank roll, facilities, etc. No excuses. Heck maybe he gets it this year. He can prove all the haters wrong then.

It seem youre having trouble with reading comprehension.
Let me try this again, Lanning took over a perfect situation with the best donor in the NIL. Mario left him a clean program after taking over for the worst stretch of Oregon in 20 years from Helfrich and Willie. Chip hated recruiting and barely stepped foot outside of Eugene and neglected California during his entire tenure. Mario took advantage of USC being down and opened up Cali and poached their best players up and down the coasts. High draft picks like Dorlis, JP, Franklin were all there along with a ready made recruiting class Conerly, Iuli and Ferguson.
Mario took over a dumpster fire of an operation from recruiting to culture. Is Mario perfect? Nope but he hasn’t meddled and we’ve improved every year.
Again, in year 2 Lanning had everything setup to win a natty and couldn’t even win the P12. When he wins something this year, he’ll get credit

But that's exactly it. You're only as good as your record. Lanning can never get a fair comparison as Mario left him a better roster and locker room culture than he inherited here.

Now comparing the actual game time decisions, it's impossible to say that Mario is even close to Lanning.

Lol, Oregon was very solid to very good program before Mario...they played for NC in 2010 under Chip Kelly and 2014 under Mark Helferich. Take your reding comprehension and shove it up your ***

Oregon had played in 2 Natty's in the decade or so before the Willie/Mario **** show at Oregon. Chip Kelly had an 87% winning percentage and Helfrich was close behind him ...Oregon didn't do ****? Think again

and we have Mario to blame for at least 1 of those losses ...hopefully there is no argument on that and that makes us an 11 win team and had we not squandered a 21 point lead we would be a 12 win team and part of the conversation regardless of how weak the schedule was

Mario doesn't have the candle power to do what Lanning has done....Mario can't develop players because he doesn't have an eye for potential talent or developed talent with room to grow. He has zero game management skills and has proven time and time again that he isn't capable of getting smarter.

You know the craziest part. We have posters put up charts on how the talent in 6 or 7 position groups has been upgraded tremendously since Mario got here. But say oh the safety and corner position is still bad.

Do you what that means!!! If Manny would have had 3 or 4 groups looking Miami caliber Mario wouldn’t have to overhaul the r ENTIRE team. Mario could have just focused on the groups that were lacking.

That’s the answer to the riddle…the whole team was lacking and not championship caliber!! And that’s not fixed by 2 recruiting and portal cycles, it’s just not.

I think he’s being sarcastic and making fun of the MarioBro contingent on here that defends the hometown guy relentlessly. Lanning’s been a great hire for you guys.

I think Mario has stabilized our program to a degree where we are no longer a total laughing stock but there’s still a good ways to go. I personally, think Mario’s limited as a coach so he can only take us so far unless he catches lightning in a bottle with coaches and players. He had that on offense this year but the defense was wretched.

WTF are you talking about? They were 11-14 the previous 2 season with 2 different coaches. Helfrich never got another job he botched it so badly. In fact he’s been out of football for 5 years and then there’s Taggart. Recruiting classes were 27,19 and 21 the previous 3 years. What a gift to Mario 🤣 Jesus Christ some of you a tards
